Update []: Assassin's Creed Shadows' substantial final update is now available to download on PS5. It's just over 10GB in terms of file size.
The patch adds a concluding chapter to the game's main story, alongside an endgame activity that should have even the most hardcore Shadows players scrambling to better their character builds. There are loads of unique rewards to unlock, too.
You can find the full patch notes in the original article below.
Original Story: Ubisoft has blown the lid off the final update for Assassin's Creed Shadows — and it's packing a lot more than most people were expecting, including myself.
Firstly, it adds a brand new main story chapter that completes the tale of protagonists Naoe and Yasuke. The duo will have to face off against two elite Templars who have sailed to Japan in order to hunt the unlikely heroes.
There's also a not-so-subtle hint towards a Kassandra (from Assassin's Creed Odyssey) cameo. She gets around, doesn't she?
But it's the inclusion of 'Domains' that'll probably be of more interest to hardcore players.
These endgame dungeon-like activities will apparently push your skills and character builds to the limit. There are five combat-focused arenas to conquer across ten difficulty levels, complete with individual gameplay modifiers.
Domains offer up unique rewards like gear sets, weapons that "fans might recognise", and "game-breaking" engravings, which sounds fun.
The final patch is out tomorrow at the time of writing, on the 16th June, and Ubisoft has been kind enough to share the full patch notes beforehand. They are as follows...
Assassin's Creed Shadows Final Update 1.1.11 Patch Notes
New Free Story Quest: Black Tides
A new threat washes ashore!
Two elite-level Templars known as "Black Cross" are called to Japan to hunt Naoe and Yasuke for all the trouble they have caused. But as is often the case with the Templar Order, those Black Cross may have additional goals of their own: It's up to our two protagonists to prevent them from acquiring whatever they seek - and manage to stay alive...
Conditions for Black Tides
- Complete Naoe & Yasuke's main story
- Complete "A Critical Encounter" post-launch quest
- Complete "A Puzzlement" post-launch quest
New Crossover Projects: Riptides & Undertow
We’re releasing two new crossover Projects available in the Animus HUB called Riptides and Undertow, in which you can unlock new themed outfits, weapons, trinkets and more!
To activate the new Projects, complete Anomalies and progress through the rewards like previously released ones. These include rewards for both Shadows and Black Flag Resynced and can be progressed by completing Anomalies from both games.
New End-game Feature: Domains
A brand-new Animus activity that will put your RPG build crafting skills to the test as you tackle 5 new gameplay simulations across 10 challenge levels.
Unlock conditions: Reach level 30
New Animus Rift: Horizon
Another Rift has opened to reveal trouble stirring in its depths.
The Eagle has more information to share about the Guide.
Quality of Life HUB Improvements
Change to the access to Animus HUB features in the main menu.
We've changed the access to the HUB features in the main menu to harmonize with how they are accessed from gameplay. The System menu will now only be accessible through the Shadows' Memory page.

I've just uninstalled the bleeding thing! (Starts sobbing). If its robust I'm not complaining. Give it another run later on in the year.
Awesome! I'm still playing Shadows here and there so I'll obviously be downloading this. One last hurrah before Resynced.
So many updates, and still no option to change controls. Souls are popular, so you will attack with R1 and you will like it!
Just when i thought i was out they pull me back in.
How is the performance meanwhile on ps5 and ps5 pro? Stable 60 or at least around 50 fps?
I need to get back to this some time. Loved it initially but the amount of busy work to find assassination targets grew tiresome and moved me on to other games.
@Reeneman base ps5 is a good 60 fps with a bit of a stutter in one of the first towns near the docks, otherwise is runs quite nicely.
@Reeneman if you're playing on the base ps5, I'd strongly recommend the 30 fps over the performance mode if u can tolerate the lower frames. The visual difference in lighting and shadows is jarring and i find the performance mode ugly
I've only just got back into it after a good few months, nowhere near the end so I guess I've got a little more to look forward to when I get there.
Ubisoft are always on point with graphics but they really need to do something about their busy work gameplay across all their franchises. Seriously!
I would normally be annoyed at having to redownload a game from 1+ year ago to 100% the game again (for like the fifth time) but actually this could be really good for the game. It’s a very good game, but its biggest issue to me was that Act 2 was like 60 hours and the Act 3 finale was about 1.5 hours, so I was in a bit of disbelief when the credits started playing suddenly. The end of the story resolution could’ve used some more work. Curious to see what this entails. Not really interested in grinding thru 10 difficulty levels of “domains” or whatever.
I imagine the final actual thing is massive layoffs…
@Reeneman Pretty much a near locked 60fps on Pro with PSSR 2.0 and RTGI.
@For-Kier Considering Shadows is a success i doubt it.
@TheArt That's their formula and lots of people love it. Why change?
Ghost of Yotei >>>>>>
I'd like to play this eventually.
So is that weird Attack on Titan crossover DLC canon or what?
It seems silly to Black Flagify this AssCreed.
@DennisReynolds So successful that Ubisoft has since closed multiple studios, had massive layoffs, did not support this game anywhere close to Valhalla or Odyssey, and is a constant punching bag for mockery by a large swath of fans. A very successful outing for AC Shadows
Any new trophies does anyone know?
@DartLOD Can always tell when someone is not arguing in good faith when they repeat the same tired grifter chud BS they have been trained to parrot.
Those studios were closing regardless, a single game was never saving them. Odyssey had a big season pass to honour. Valhalla over-performed because it turns out a big Viking themed game released along side next gen consoles during convid actually does insane numbers. Shadows DLC got cancelled because of the delay and they didn't want AC games overlapping with each other.
Who are these fans? Racist incels and grifters on YT aren't fans. A quick look on the AC subreddits show a lot of like or love for the game.
Finally as for sales Ubi have only ever expressed positivity with its sales. It sold well within what they expected and actually over performed when the Switch 2 version dropped. Still though prove me wrong with sales data and Ubi saying it didn't do well, i look forward to you giving me nothing.
@DennisReynolds I love how much in your feels you get. Every single article just arguing day and night. AC Shadows flopped. It underperformed. It didn't sell well. It lost money. These are all hurtful statements to you that also happen to be the truth.
@DartLOD https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2026/02/assassins-creed-has-overperformed-this-quarter-says-ubisoft
@DartLOD Now how about back up your statements with a source.
@DartLOD
That’s total rubbish. The game cost around €100m to develop and was estimated to have sold 4.4m copies before the end of last year. It was definitely profitable.
@MrPeanutbutterz it's fun for some time but gets tiring and then you need to bounce off and come back later.
I like the addition of the black cross characters. The elite hunters from the Order of the Templars. I only remeber seeing them in extended media, so it is a welcome thing!!
I'm doing the Claws of Awaji right now, and clearing the main map too to get the plat. Gonna do everything I can.
@GamingGod For sure they will add it tomorrow. They always bring new trophies with those content updates.
@For-Kier assassins creed is one of the few things keeping ubisoft going lol, if any one is safe its them.
I might go back for this and play the whole thing again. Best open-world game set in Japan!
@TheArt I agree completely, I can't remember the last time I finished a Ubisoft game.
But the fact is these things sell and makes them bank, so it makes sense they haven't mixed up the formula much.
@Dalamar It's not to copy DS for the sake of it. The reason DS did it in the first place is so your thumb is freed up to either move the camera or hover over the dodge button. Same as in FPS with R2 being shoot, though it's even more important in them since you aim with RS.
@Matroska that's all nice and good, but in Origins and Odyssey there was an option to switch combat to face buttons and parkour to triggers. It was even possible in Valhalla, even though you had to remap everything manually. But Shadows just tells you to go fork yourself.
Well Kassandra is the oldest living assassin. I had been hoping her role would get fleshed out beyond little cameos but I will take what I can get.
The story is getting a conclusion this long after? So the game was that blatantly unfinished at launch?
Wait, so the game didn't launch with a finished story ?
@DennisReynolds aaaaand they are gone. Once somebody asks them to evidence their wild statements. Accountability has been lost. People just say whatever they want and act as if it is fact. I wonder which world leader they are taking their cues from...
@MrPeanutbutterz I haven't tried a Ubisoft game for so long after tiring of the formula.
I do sometimes wonder whether enough time has passed that I may enjoy one again.
This game frustrated me so much. All the enemies level up when you do, so you never become a bad-ass assassin - every battle is the same. When you are a level 40 master of death slogging through some Ronin hanging around a bridge shatters the illusion.
Just started Mirage ( bought it for 8 euro's, disc version), played it for an hour and its the same game as number one. I'm done with Ubisoft.
@HerlockSholmes Worth a punt so. And their games usually go to rock bottom discounts.
For what it's worth, Far Cry 6 is my favourite in that series (played 50 hours, didn't finish it), and I thought AC Shadows was great too (also 50 to 60 hours played, also never finished it). Actually the weather system in AC Shadows doesn't get enough praise, was one of the best I've seen in any game, really made the setting feel more believable.
@DennisReynolds
Says Ubisoft. Other sources?
@DennisReynolds You're so much fun to mess with. Your source is the company that made the game. The same company that had to write down $1.4 BILLION with a B because, in their words, "lack of long tail revenue from premium titles" (Say Hi to AC Shadows.) Also, the same company that refuses to disclose how many copies they sell (wonder why?)
@Blauwe_Chimay Of course he had another source. It was nintendo life sourcing Ubisoft lol
Borrowing this from the library since they don't have Ghost of Yotei. Seems like the right time. Though the length does gave ne worried about a library Borrowing. Oh well, we'll see how it goes.
@Blauwe_Chimay What you think Ubi are lying? You know how illegal that would be. Give me a credible source that contradicts Ubi.
@DartLOD Give me a credible source saying the game bombed in sales. I keep asking but you have yet to give me anything but cope. Ubi can't lie when announcing sales data its highly illegal and would give grounds for share holders to sue them. I don't need another source because if Ubi says its sold well and over performed then well it has. Please though provide something that contradicts them.
@DennisReynolds
https://alineaanalytics.com/blog/assassins_shadow/
@Blauwe_Chimay If you have to fall back on that site then it says it all. That site is widely known for fake numbers and getting things wrong. Fact is Ubi say otherwise and they're the best source out there as they know the numbers and what they need more then anyone else. As i said they can't lie otherwise they would be committing fraud.
@Blauwe_Chimay Oh yeah your "source" is dated March 24th 2025 so its massively out of date.
Guess I'm reinstalling Shadows then, I right enjoyed the main game and the expansion they put out, be good to get some closure for these two characters.
