Re: Review: Diablo III: Reaper of Souls - Ultimate Evil Edition (PlayStation 4)

larry_koopa

My girlfriend and I have put countless hours into the PS3 version, so I see no reason to get this one. None of the new features here overly excite me and, honestly, this package seems grossly overpriced. One new act and one new character class who we'd never play as? We'll pass.

Still, that doesn't change the fact that Diablo III is an outstanding game.

Re: Gamescom 2014: Half of Tearaway Unfolded's Content Will Be Brand New on PS4

larry_koopa

Got to be honest - I'm not sold here. Tearaway is one of the most charming games that I've ever played and it was perfect on the Vita. As great as the Dualshock 4 is I don't see how this game will actually play better than the original.

It'll be great if more gamers get exposed to Tearaway because of this, but I'd still suggest checking out the original.

Re: Gamescom 2014: Sony Refuses to Rehash Previous Generation on PS4

larry_koopa

I doubt this will ever happen or if anybody other than me would actually be interested, but a remaster of the original Infamous would be cool. That's a game that I do return to every so often just to run around in, but man does that game look like garbage. Gameplay is obviously more important, but PS3 launch titles looked better than that thing...

Re: Gamescom 2014: Hellblade Is Ninja Theory's First AAA Indie for PS4

larry_koopa

And I bet people will love this game just because it's not a reboot of Devil May Cry.

Seriously haters, you're missing out on a great game if you're so ignorant to dismiss DmC just because Dante looks different. The gameplay is fantastic and unlike the other four Devil May Cry games Ninja Theory didn't feel the need to have mindless puzzles every 5 minutes which slowed things down to a halt. The combat and platforming are both great. Get off your damn high horse and go play an amazing game.

End rant.

Re: Gamescom 2014: Wait, Rise of the Tomb Raider Isn't Coming to PS4?

larry_koopa

Well I didn't see this coming... what a shame.

Another series that started on the PlayStation brand jumps ship. First Metal Gear Solid starts appearing on Xboxes, and now Sony is outright losing the next Tomb Raider. Sony better get their ducks in a row and do something about this.

I get that this is just one game, but an exclusive is still an exclusive.

Re: Unsurprisingly, Metal Gear Solid Still Sells Best on PlayStation Platforms

@Reverend_Skeeve

Hey man,

I think "problem" might be too strong a word. Trust me, I do not think that it's any less of an excellent game simply because it's also available on Microsoft platforms. But I think that anytime a console has a triple-A exclusive to its name it's a big deal for that console. As somebody who chooses to support Sony I think it's too bad that the series is no longer exclusive to them, considering that the MGS series got its start on the original PlayStation. It'd be like if the next God of War came out on both the PS4 and X1 – I would be sad that Sony lost the exclusivity to that series as well. Or if Mario games started coming out on everything. Does this answer your question??

Anyways, I hope my original comment didn't get blown out of portion. I'm not anti-Xbox or anything (I even own a 360), I just happen to prefer to play my third-party games on PlayStations. We just like what we like, but a great game is a great game regardless of the system we choose to play it on.

Re: Fancy a Jill Sandwich? The Original Resident Evil Spooks PS4 in 1080p

Comparing the comments here vs. the comments at Nintendo Life is pretty hilarious. It's almost like Capcom wants to make money by releasing this game on consoles that people actually own. The PS4 surpassed the Wii U in total sales within a few months, plus there's the small fact that over 80 million PS3s are out there. Funny how that math works out.

Re: Soapbox: Why Destiny Still Has a Lot to Prove to Me

larry_koopa

Great read, Sammy. I'm in the same boat as you in that I too have less and less of an opportunity to enjoy games these days. I am a teacher and am currently doing my Masters part time, so when I do have time to sit down with a game I want to be sure that it's something that's worth my time and that I am going to enjoy my time with it.

Re: Failing to Consider The Last of Us 2 Would Be a Disservice to Fans

larry_koopa

I think they should leave this masterpiece alone after Remastered is released.

Do I think they're actually going to do that? No, honestly I don't. Games are just like movies and books in this regard; whenever a great one comes along it's milked and milked with countless sequels. Rarely is greatness ever left alone. Pirates of the Caribbean, The Matrix, Jurassic Park (the book) - just three examples that quickly come to mind of great first efforts that should have been left at that.

Re: Ratchet & Clank HD Trilogy Fires onto PS Vita in July

larry_koopa

Nobody seems to have pointed out that calling these games "HD" when they're on the Vita is kind of misleading. As beautiful as that OLED screen is, I'm sorry, it's not HD. This, Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster, Cel Damage HD, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, etc. Just stop calling them something that they're not.

I've got no issue with this collection being brought to the Vita, but don't put 'HD' in the title. Call it Ratchet & Clank Collection or Trilogy or Remaster or something that's actually accurate.

Re: Soapbox: For the Love of DualShocks, Quit with the Button Bashing QTEs

larry_koopa

I have to respectfully disagree with the Metal Gear Solid 4 example. That to me was the worst QTE that I have ever encountered. I don't care what else is going on presentation-wise, having to hit the same button over and over again for 5 freaking minutes is just pointless and ridiculous ware and tear on the controller. I actually played that sequence with my girlfriend's hot pink Dualshock so that my own wouldn't have to suffer.

I don't mind when a single button prompt shows up on screen (like in God of War), but those repetitive, hit-the-same-button-over-and-over again QTEs drive me crazy. The Walking Dead comes to mind here...

Re: Your Return to Borderlands 2 on PS Vita Will Be a Little Lonelier

larry_koopa

I've been a big supporter of portable gaming my whole life and certainly love my 3DS and Vita, but I seriously have a hard time understanding why anybody would want to play this game on a handheld instead of their PS3 or 360. Sammy makes a good point about being able to grind-on-the-go with the Vita version via cross-save, but that certainly shouldn't be a selling point for a game that has been on the market since the fall of 2012.
