During its Gamescom conference today, Sony revealed that the PlayStation 4 has sold a flabbergasting ten million units worldwide since its launch last year. The Japanese giant also noted that 30 million pieces of software have been purchased by consumers in that time. To be honest, we've run out of ways to express how impressive these figures are, so instead, we'll just let company executive Andrew House do the talking.
“The response that we have received for the PS4 system’s unique gameplay experiences powered by the network, along with its vast game portfolio, has been phenomenal," House stated. "I am absolutely delighted that PS4 was able to reach this commemorative milestone in less than nine months.”
And as always, the platform holder was quick to thank the fans for their commitment. “We’re so grateful for the enormous support from PlayStation gamers worldwide," the big-wig continued. "We look forward to bringing even more exciting content and services in the months ahead.”
What do you make of these shocking statistics? Are you one of the ten million PS4 owners? Let us know in the comments section below.

These sales are rightfully served to Sony for what they have done. Now while the AAA gaming launches have been very few for this year, that isn't Sony's fault at all. That 10 million units is still going to grow and when those bigger games hit, it's going to be a supernova.
I guess it is numbers like this what makes Sony not care that much about their handheld or their aging home console.
@sinalefa they already switched their focus to making games for ps4 instead of ps3, which is right I suppose but they've more or less dumped vita, which is not right... I suppose?
I sold my vita to my friend after E3 this year.i bought it for the remote play features, the vita is indeed great for some games but it was hard to use with some games, but it never got used. I want an Nvidia tablet, looks dope. Id buy a PlayStation tablet if sony released one. They should make a Vita tablet : )
But yet let's not have the next Tomb Raider come to the console or anything. Genius move...

What's done there is done. Just have to hope Uncharted 4 blows it away critically and commercially. We'll see. In the meantime, very impressive sales numbers but I can't say fully deserved.
@Demi_God are you for real? It isn't Sony's fault there are very few AAA games for the PS4!! Who's fault is it? Hitachi's?
@Gamer83 Let's just hope Uncharted 4 won't suffer from broken Difficulty or Annoying... Need to be 1337 to get past sections
@artemisthemp
Yup, I've got high expectations for that game, and now that it's going up against Rise of the Tomb Raider, hopefully Naughty Dog brings its 'A' game to the table.
@voodoo341 So you blame Sony for a lack of 3rd party AAA games? that's smart.... Not really, it's actually quite stupid to blame them for that and not Xbox Ones lack of AAA games and even the PC at the moment. if your going to spew, then be smart about it, mmmmmkay.
Hopefully the awesome success of the PS4, means that the inevitable price drop to $300 New will happen sometime in 2016 or earlier.
I'd also be happy if the PS4 got a slim re-design with a 1 or 2 TB HDD.
Already pretty slim IMO. Probably see a firmware update allowing an external hard drive before anything else.
It won't take much effort if any at all for Uncharted 4 to spank Tomb Raider to oblivion.
