Imagine what sales will be like once the system actually has a decent software library. I'll jump onboard once the system has some games that I actually want to own - and hopefully by then the price will be lower as well (I live in Canada and the price recently went up by $50). I can wait.
Still, this news does make me very happy. Return of the king, indeed.
Considering the original has some of the best graphics that I have ever seen I'm very much looking forward to seeing it on the PS4. I won't buy it a second time, but from the sounds of it they're simply making a great game even better.
I never really understood the appeal of this device to begin with. I'm perfectly happy playing my Vita games on the ol' OLED screen. And as Sammy pointed out earlier, games like Tearaway can't be played without the touch pad/screen anyways.
The shield mechanic is something that I desperately wish that the Mario Kart series will adopt. Finally, players with skill who spend all their time in first have an out when the rubber-band IA sends the metaphoric blue shell their way.
I love Michael Pachter. As somebody who admires university education I think it’s seriously impressive that he has four degrees. He’s an analyst whose job it is to share his informed opinion about the gaming industry. I don’t always totally agree with he’s saying, but I do always respect what he has to say.
Personally I do not care about VR. Just like I do not care about motion control. To me gaming is done with me sitting on my butt in front of my TV with a controller in hand. The Wii and most notably the Wii U are what started to push me away from Nintendo after a lifetime of only owning Nintendo systems. I don’t care about unique control schemes that are going to “change the way we all play games!!” or whatever. Just give me a DualShock and let me play games like they’re meant to be played.
I picked this up around Christmas for the PS3 and love it. Great music and truly outstanding visuals. I also love the very forgiving check-point system - while the game can be pretty difficult in spots the check-points mean that it never becomes frustrating.
"This is a game in which you’ll fight what you presume is a boss, scrape through with the tiniest bit of health remaining, and then head around the corner to find that there’s two more of what you just fought waiting for you."
This is exactly why I can't stand the Ninja Gaiden series. I'm all for a stiff challenge in my games, but that challenge needs to be fair. Besides the art style this game just seems to be poorly designed. Great review, but I'll gladly stick to DmC.
Not appearing on the Wii U, I see. I can only imagine the fire-storm that will be the comment section over at Nintendo Life. How dare Ubisoft focus on consoles that actually sell well.
I love my Vita and am a big fan of handheld gaming in general, but I think they're just trying to shoehorn a title onto the Vita that has no business being on a handheld. The game was great on my PS3 - I just can't see the Vita doing it justice, as great as the handheld is.
And besides load times and choppiness, the Vita is lacking quite a few buttons compared to the Dualshock. I know they're using the touch screen and rear touch pad to compensate, but that just doesn't sound pleasant to me. Games like Tearaway and Dragon's Crown are perfect fits for the Vita... FPSs... not so much.
Off topic, but I really wish that this series remained a Sony exclusive. Considering the heritage of Metal Gear Solid it just seems weird that Revengeance and now this and The Phantom Pain are/will be available on Microsoft consoles. These are big-time games that, were they exclusive, would really give the PS4 an edge over the X1. Metal Gear Solid 4 is what started to turn the tide of the PS3 after all... oh well. The industry changes I guess.
I’m sorry, but this game is not that good and did not deserve over 90 Game of the Year awards. Before I come off as hating with no grounds I’ll say this: I played the entire game and thought that the characters, dialogue, and voice acting were some of the best that I have ever seen in a video game. That said, from a gameplay perspective the game is awful. The gameplay is clunky and always seems to stutter and lag at the worst possible time, meaning you’re just too late getting your cross-hair in place, resulting in death. There are also a few action sequences when it’s not at all clear as to why you keep failing and dying, not to mention several other moments when you have no idea what you need to do in order to advance the story. This is bad game-design that everybody seems willing to overlook. Look no further than trying to find that pharmacy key in episode one if you need an example. Clearly the TV remote that you might not even naturally come across if you weren’t looking in the right place is the item you need to retrieve the key.
I will remember my journey with Lee for a long time, but I did not enjoy playing his game and I have zero interest in playing the series ever again. It’s ironic that most games have solid gameplay and a story that you couldn’t care less about (usually with terrible voice acting) while this game has the exact opposite problem.
I could never get into this game. I'm not hating on it - the crafting and the stealth just aren't my things. However, I'm glad that Sony had such a blockbuster exclusive to their name last year.
Honestly I stopped caring about this title years ago. This is beyond ridiculous at this point. I don't mind waiting for things when I know that they're coming along and that process is being made on them. There is no excuse for this. I've got plenty of other stuff to play on my Sony machines. I don't need to waste my time waiting/hoping for this.
I picked up a Vita last weekend and I absolutely love it. Lumines, Tearaway, and Dragon's Crown are more than enough to keep me happy for a while, plus I downloaded Final Fantasy IX for the girlfriend. Everybody's happy here at least
Just wanted to let you know that I was able to test out an original Vita today at my local EB Games store. I played Runner 2 for half an hour and that was all I needed to be sold on that OLED screen. Forget waiting for the Slim (I live in Canada and it's not out here yet); I'm picking up an original Vita later this weekend.
I do have a question though. I have never owned a Vita and thus have no concept of just how beautiful that OLED screen is. Seeing as I don’t really know what I’m missing with the downgrade to the LCD screen would you recommend the Vita Slim to me? I love my 3DS XL and have spent hundreds of hours gaming with it – do you know how those screens compare?
It’s the inclusion of unnecessary stealth bits that seems the most disappointing to me. There’s a time and a place for stealth – in stealth titles. Please keep it out of my third-person action games.
I think this bundle will happen at some point. It might not make sense right now, but it'll happen someday. I imagine that when Sony releases the PS4 Slim that they will also give consumers the option of buying a PS4 Slim/Vita Slim bundle.
Don’t get me wrong – I do love this game, but nothing in the latter two-thirds of it lives up to the sense of awe and wonder that I felt during those opening hours. The ending is powerful and well-done of course, but by the time I got there I felt like I was merely seeing something though as opposed to truly enjoying the ride, which I was during the opening hours.
I bought a PS3 last summer (my first ever PlayStation) and this was the first game that I played for it. From the opening moments I was hooked and it has since gone on to become my all-time favourite, non-Nintendo video game. I’ve happily put over 50 hours into it and I still replay it from start to finish every month or so just for the heck of it.
I know the game has a lot of detractors (some have valid reasons, lots of them don’t), but it will always have a special place in my heart. It started my affiliation with Sony and I haven’t looked back since.
I’m really looking forward to playing this one whenever I get around to picking up a PS4. I’ve played the demo a number of times at my local EB Games and I’ve really enjoyed it. It’s a throwback to the simpler design of the games from my childhood and I think my girlfriend and I will have a blast with the co-op.

Hopefully the project will come together in the end. Someday when I decide to get a PS4 I want this to be one of the first titles that I play on it.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and local co-op Diablo 3 with the girlfriend.

So happy for Sony. I'm waiting to get my PS4 - I want the library to be a bit more diverse by the time I jump on board - but still, really great news.
And besides, I'm still having too much fun with my PS3 at this point, plus I have Tales of Xillia 2 later this year. The greatness keeps on going.
