This looks like poop from a butt visually, but I'm still excited for it! Though it is bizarre that this series hasn't made it's way to VR yet, I do think the JoyCons lend themselves to rail shooters better than a standard controller
This is yet another example of the difference between Sony Japan and Sony America. It's like it's two different companies that somehow make the same product for the same audience lmao
Square's only hope of getting another million units out of this game is SOMEHOW getting it to run on Switch 2. But FFVII is coming, so I really don't see any reason why they can't get XVI running on Switch 2
I'd be surprised if State of Play is around much longer in general. Sony has no problem just dropping big news on Twitter and the PlayStation blog, so why bother?
Housemarque might be Sony's secret weapon. If Saros has the quality of Returnal's combat, but works out some of the kinks with the RNG and presentation, then it might be in masterpiece territory
Listen, Bungie is on my crap-list right now, but I absolutely refuse to believe that they (or any developer, for that matter) have ever sat down and said, "Folks, we expect to be in the top five." Like what?? That sounds soooo made up
@Faraz27 Absolutely, and you will put down your hard earned $70 or $80, put it in your PS5, sit in front of your TV and you will like it, and you know you will
It'll be interesting to see just how much of a remake this is. Like, I can't imagine it'll be on the level of FFVII, but probably much more of a remake than something like the 2DHD remake of Dragon Quest
Sand Land looks cool, but I don't know, I'd almost rather just buy it ala carte at some point than worry about playing it while it's on the service. And Premium has had more bad months than it's had good months. Once again, PS Plus Essential reigns supreme
Kinda crazy how we're getting a Kojima game and an MGS game within a couple of months of each other, and there's a very strong chance Konami could have another remake ready in time to launch the same year as PHYSINT.
I'm not claiming either side is petty enough to do this on purpose, but I'm also not ruling it out, hahaha
The best episode of each season was directed by Neil Druckmann. It's almost like he knows this story, world, and characters. Who knew?
But seriously, season two has been significantly dumbed down for television compared to the game. All the subtlety, nuance, and well-paced world building has been forgotten, in place of just playing the hits from the game. I don't know how you stretch out the remainder of the game into even one more season, let alone two
"Others have referred to the game’s high price point, noting that $69.99 is a lot to pay for a single player first-person shooter these days, irrespective of its quality."
Probably the single most depressing statement I've read this month
This might be an unpopular opinion, but Sony has to step in more actively with Bungie. The company has been in a freefall since the acquisition, and it ain't getting better. The way I see it, Sony has two options;
1. Cut bait. Sell it to some other sucker, take the L and move on. 2. Gut the management, take full control, and make it a full-blown PlayStation studio.
The hands-off approach was a nice idea, but it ain't working. Also, apparently Bungie's "expertise" led to the cancelation of Factions, so screw em lmao
The classic game I actually want to play are so few and far between, I'm debating canceling my sub to premium, going back to essential, and just buying the classics I want ala carte. Would it realistically cost me more to do it that way? Well, in the long run, probably, but PS Plus Premium is the only subscription I have that I can actually go a full month without using multiple times a year
This is good business all around for everyone involved. Try your own thing, go multiplat, create a new IP, but DON'T burn the bridge with Sony. And if it doesn't work, you still have that good relationship with PlayStation to HOPEFULLY fall back on
PlayStation needs to get their act together when it comes to making their OWN GAMES playable of modern consoles. The drip-feed strategy of PS Plus premium is fine, but we have gone some months without any classic games. We have PS2 and PSP games on the service already, why not the God of War series? And PS3 is a whole other issue entirely. Just feels so lazy
Rather remarkable how a single title may have saved an entire friggin publisher (or at least is keeping them afloat longer than they otherwise would have been)
@Flaming_Kaiser Sales = Money, even if it's nominal. Selling even just 100,000 units on Xbox would more than make up whatever it would cost them the port the game. This isn't the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis. Porting games between PS5 and Series S|X is trivial. Also, why wouldn't they want to put games that any many years old on GamePass? It doesn't "devalue" them. That's an outdated argument. Third parties wouldn't still be doing it if that were true.
@UltimateOtaku91 Realistically, I know you're right. It's just strange to hear them repeatedly talk about this and we just haven't seen the results of it yet at all
They've been talking about doing multiplatform releases for like two years now, and yet we're only just now getting FFVIIRI on Switch 2. Where's XVI, and Rebirth? Where's Xbox ports? Why is Bravely Default STILL a Nintendo exclusive? WHY YOU CAPPING, SQUARE?
And it's obvious to me that the biggest friggin issue they have is their expectations are too high. Maybe don't spend so much money on development. I loved Rebirth, but you easily could've cut 10% of story content and 40% of side content and not a single, solitary soul on the planet would've been bothered by it.
