It's competing for their time, but I think they are two completely different things.

What is competing against PS5 is gaming platforms that people seem to be more interested in now, like mobile games, portable consoles (Switch 1/2) and PC.

I think Sony really needs to think differently with PS6 and make it a console/ portable hybrid, just like it seems to be rumoured to be, while still giving PC gamers games like they are right now.

The main thing is, gaming is changing a lot from what it use to be, and Sony needs to keep up with trends to stay relevant. Maybe even somehow be able to make tiktok videos around their Playstation gaming experiences?

About all we know about the next system is it's probably coming out in 2026, and it's probably called PS6 lol This article is WAAAY too early.

Personally though, I'm hoping for a slightly more powerful console, with a portable option (not necessary to buy unless people want it, unlike Switch)

Really wish Phil Spencer would go away. I originally thought he was great for Xbox, but lately I've really changed my mind about him and Xbox in general.

Ghost of Yotei for me this year, and that seems to be about it...and maybe Silent Hill. I'm tired of playing remakes and remasters.

Glad about this, absolutely loved Cyberpunk 2077, when they put it on PS5 and it ran properly. Hopefully they take their time, and learn from the mistakes of the first game.

@HammerKirby3 as a former Xbox die-hard: not much. If Xbox offered GamePass on PS5 at some point, it's definitely game over for Xbox consoles.

Xbox as a publisher on all platforms is definitely amazing, though.

Got to be honest, this is the first time I ever heard of it.

From what I've gathered from video online, it's closer to a Xbox Series S in power, so PS5/ XSX are definitely more powerful. Seemingly, it's also slightly better than the Steam Deck, at least from Cyberpunk 2077 comparisons, but they could have made the game more optimized specifically for Switch 2 hardware.

Just in case we needed another reason to hate this title?

I got 4 games and a new Crystal Red dualshock 4 for Black Friday from Bestbuy.ca. I don't go into the stores because it's too busy for my liking. I'm happy I live in Canada and not USA, cause it looks like utter chaos on Black Friday down there!

A couple reasons I can think to why Vita failed where the Switch is succeeding
1/ the Switch has full console style controls (Vita is missing L2/ R2 and clickable joysticks)

2/ the Switch is a actual console/portable hybrid, just simply dock it and play on tv, or take it out and play portable. Vita was mostly a portable with console like games that could play streamed games from a PS4 (a Switch is cheaper then owning a PS4 and Vita combo)

3/ The memory cards for the Vita where ridiculously priced, where Nintendo was smart and went with micro sd

4/ Nintendo games are great to usually play quick gaming sessions, or very long gaming sessions, which make the portable/ console hybrid work. Sony games are usually more cinematic and require longer play sessions to get fully into a game, not really idea for a portable.

Just some of my thoughts as to why, personally I would love a hybrid console from Sony, but I doubt it would happen.

2020 would probably be the time I would expect a PS5, any sooner and I'm not interested. This generation just now feels like it's starting to hit it's stride, so having PS5 is 2018 would be way too early, and 2019 would be a good time to start talking about it.

Pick PS4 Pro if you have 4K tv and want VR, pick the slim/older model if you don't have 4K and don't care about VR...about sums it up, really

Personally, I have a PS4 Pro because I figure I will eventually get 4K and VR and didn't want to cheap out and only get the slim just in case.

I'm interested in getting one, only problem is spending that kind of money on something that is just a add on accessory. I would probably go out and buy one quickly if they had more games like Resident Evil 7, Doom, Skyrim and that come out for it that are true games, and less games that are small experiences.

they got Nier Automata on for $55 CAD for normal, $52 CAD for PS Plus members, mean while I just bought it on Best Buy for $30 CAD. Playstation sales are usually really good, but not always.

I voted Ys, I love those games and can't wait for this one! Also looking forward to Knack 2.

I liked it, it wasn't the greatest, but it didn't deserve the hate ppl gave it. I will be one of the ppl to eventually get Knack 2

I kind of wish Sony would bring back, or at least remaster, Ape Escape. I loved that game and it's sequels, and would love more from that series. Also a brand new Parappa game would be awesome too!

Meh, who cares? If you are this obsessed about the graphics, you would have already moved on and become a PC gamer. I play PlayStation because of the awesome games.

When the PSVR first launched I didn't want it, and figured it would probably die out in less than a year, but now there are good games like these two coming to it which makes me actually want one!

Only problem I have with the VR in Doom and Skyrim from the videos I've watched is how the movement is in the games. I wish you could use the Move navigation controller to move your character instead of how it is with the two move wand remotes.

it's ok that it's only coming to Europe and Japan, cause honestly I don't care for the look of it. And why not make a PS4 Pro one instead of another PS4 Slim special edition?

Looking forward to Sonic Mania, Yakuza, and the new Life is Strange most out of all those

In North America we already suffered through this (in Canada it's $69.99 CAD/$56 USD for a year subscription) and though it's not horrible, it would be nice to get better games and exclusive sales for ppl worth playstation plus. Personally I rather they get rid of the stupid Vita games and give away 3 ps4 and 3 ps3 games a month.

I got to play some of it cause of a friend, and I wasn't impressed with it. I can see some people liking it, but it definitely isn't a game for me.

Well I bought Watch Dogs 2 on day one, but the other games I'm waiting for the Black Friday sales to pick up games for me, and other ppl for Christmas, so that is obviously a huge factor to consider.

Black Friday wasn't a big thing in Canada until a couple years ago, it was always boxing day sales, but now that black friday is bigger here, I've gotten use to waiting to pick up the big fall games, and so have most ppl I know.

Just picked it up today, can't wait to start playing it!

Imo, the series should take a good 2-3 year break. Remember when you made games other then Assassins Creed and Far Cry, cause I can't Do something original for once.

And why do people actually want a new Crash game? The last ones didn't sell worth a crap, and ActiVision owns the rights to Crash, so the game won't be as good as they where when Naughty Dog did them. And why would Naughty Dog do another Crash game when they have bigger named games like Uncharted and The Last of Us they can easily do more with gameplay and story wise.

I loved Crash games back on the PSONE, but that's where they should stay, in the past.

Not one game that I find interesting, pretty sad. I'm really starting to regret getting a year subscription to ps+ right now. Hoping March is a better month for me.

N64: friend moved and needed to get rid of some things, so I ended up buying his collection of games and I'll be playing games like goldeneye, banjo kazooie, and majora's mask also this weekend.

Basically alot of Nintendo this weekend, coming from the guy that had bad mouthed Nintendo alot lately lol

Can't wait for this to come out, I'm a huge Sega and a Shenmue fan as well. Still think they should release a Shenmue 1 & 2 Remastered Collection for ppl that haven't played the series, or forget alot of what happened since it was so long ago.

Sega has no idea what their western fans want, so no, this will probably never release in the west. I really wish it would. I loved PSO, but Sega only seems to give us Sonic games now
