Shenmue III is real. We've known this for a good six months now, of course, but it's still something that this author – a lifelong Shenmue fan – has to pinch himself over. The sequel seemed unlikely for the longest time – over a decade, in fact – and now a new screenshot has emerged out of a Monaco press event. It's a prototype, so obviously it's far from final.
Either way, we get a glimpse of protagonist Ryo Hazuki and Shenhua overlooking a small lake in Guilin. Presumably this sequence takes place after the duo have emerged from that darn cave which is where the story stopped all the way back in 2001. It's not the prettiest screenshot, but for Shenmue fans it will prove sweet all the same – Shenmue III is real, y'all.

I'm glad I backed this, never thought we'd see it. As for the graphics, I think they look decent enough (even if the grass does stick out like a sore thumb), I wasn't expecting something on the lines of The Witcher 3.
Gimme gimme gimme gimme!
Hype building allready started?
Can't wait for this to come out, I'm a huge Sega and a Shenmue fan as well. Still think they should release a Shenmue 1 & 2 Remastered Collection for ppl that haven't played the series, or forget alot of what happened since it was so long ago.
Can't wait for this! It's been way to long!
It's been ages since I played the first one, never played the second - I would imagine there will be some kind of summary of both games. Regardless, I'll be picking this up. Is this download only or retail?
Still have my Dreamcast originals, still hard to believe the game will arrive after all this time, so pleased that Yu Suzuki is in a position to continue the story.
Was playing Shenmue on Dreamcast over the weekend and I was instantly hook on the machines with the little sega figures - again - hope there in Shenmue 3
It better be real! I backed this at £100!!!!
