If you're at all familiar with Yakuza: Dead Souls, then congratulations, you're a True Fan (capitalised) of SEGA's long-running series.

Unfortunately, the frankly insane spin-off, which sees series protagonist Kiryu and his pals shoot their way through a zombie-plagued Kamurocho, has been firmly locked to the PS3 ever since it was released back in 2012. Criminal.

It's pretty big news, then, that fans have actually managed to get the thing running on PC.

PS3 emulator RPCS3 now supports Dead Souls, and you can play it at an astounding 60 frames-per-second via a patch. That's at least double its typical frame rate on Sony's old console; the original release runs like crap.

As a reminder, you should be able to run Dead Souls off your PS3 disc — which of course you do still own after all these years — thanks to an RPCS3 update that was pushed live in September.

Now look, I know that Dead Souls won't exactly be high on SEGA's list of potential remakes or remasters, but I do think it deserves something.

Yes, it's a really rough game — especially by today's standards — but it's also such a unique proposition. A proper oddity. I feel like such a weird spin-off could resonate with today's audience, if given the chance.
