I'm genuinely amazed when I see things like this because I wonder what the devs are actually thinking. Are they proud of their work?

This game isn't for me but I'd still like to see it succeed.

@Boxmonkey A trade in option for digital purchases would be amazing. You could even list your games for someone else to buy or trade (Sony could take a small percentage for processing).

A story about Sony facing a legal challenge over pricing still somehow turns into an Xbox article. 😂

I would rather Sony focussed on putting more games out there rather than the 8 (ish) they've released 5 years so far this generation.

In the meantime, let's all have a whip-round for Nvidia and Amazon.

PlayStation joined the console market 11 years after Nintendo and 17 years after Atari.

So what? Why does that matter?

I would also argue that Xbox have innovated more successfully than PlayStation during their time in the industry.

@GirlVersusGame Never watched a single one. And now I've got to a point in my life where I refuse to because I feel it makes me special. They used to be on TV all the time when I was a kid but I was too busy playing with toys and video games so it never happened. I had the Super Star Wars trilogy on my SNES so I feel like I know the story anyway.

I always watch V For Vendetta on the 5th of November.

PC in a box is the way the industry is heading and personally, I can't wait.

At that point, people can stop arguing over machines and just buy and enjoy whatever games they want. The cream will rise to the top and software will be king.

Whoever has the best library of games (whether it be PlayStation or Xbox) will be the winner.

I've pointed this out already but it CLEARLY needs to be said again. Sony is charging more money for players who spend more money digitally and are giving discounts to players who don't spend as much money digitally.

@TheInfamousGod It has already been established that the US isn't affected by this therefore your personal experience is irrelevant.

Whereas several people in the regions mentioned have reported it and it happening for them.

I would also say that you needn't pick holes in Sammy's article. This is very much a case of 'don't shoot the messenger '.

I also find it odd that an article about Sony ripping off its loyal customers (myself included) receives fewer comments than an article about the price of the new Xbox.

@TheInfamousGod I think several people have proven that people who buy lots of digital games are being charged more than people who buy less.

That's literally the point of this article and the entire story.

@sanderson72 😂 I used to share your opinion on the PS5 design but it has really grown on me over the years. It's still an awkward lump to fit into most entertainment set ups but my cobalt blue cover plates actually make it look quite nice.

@Bez87 Apparently the discounts apply to users who have a low or zero history of buying games digitally. When Sony deems you to be a "big spender" the prices for you go up.

I don't understand why some people here are defending this. Charging people more for something because they have a history of buying more is an incredible slap in the face to loyal customers.

And for anyone saying "well other industries use dynamic pricing", that's a ridiculous argument. Digital games are an infinite product and Sony doesn't have to deal with stock issues or physical availability.

Disgusting.

Experimentation and smaller games should be commended. As long as they're actually good games.

Do you believe that Sony will release a much less powerful piece of hardware to cut costs?

Do you believe that Microsoft will allow free access to any PC store and therefore negate any revenue?

How long do you believe Sony will want to make PlayStation hardware?

I no longer have a PS+ subscription so I expect to miss out on deals that PS+ subscribers get. This however is a very strange and possibly illegal practise. I'm sure there's a law in the UK where you can't offer exclusive deals to new customers and not existing. I think there was a huge broadband/mobile data court case but I could be wrong.

I absolutely love this game.

Why would a lower price show for someone who isn't logged in???

I can kind of understand a difference in price if someone has a PS+ subscription - Game Pass members get specific deals for having that subscription.

But surely not the other way round.

People seem to forget or not understand that modern consoles are basically PCs anyway.

It's $3.6 billion.

It's a strategy that makes some sense. For now. I still think that more people buying your games makes more sense. And at the moment, the only way for Sony to tie people into their ecosystem is through the Trojan horse of them buying PlayStation consoles.

But once they stop making consoles and need people to access their games via an app/storefront on generic hardware, they'll need to have an existing customer base outside of PlayStation diehard fans.

I agree with a lot of people here and think that this has been prompted by the fact that the next Xbox and Steam Machine would be able to play PlayStation games.

I played this when it first came out and enjoyed it. I'll have a look at the offline price when it launches.

Incredible sales numbers. I'll hold off for a Gold/Deluxe edition though.

I really enjoyed this on Xbox. It's nothing life changing but good, mindless fun.

Uncharted is my favourite series in all of gaming. But to be fair to Sony and Naughty Dog, Nate's story has been fully resolved.

A spin off in the same universe could work but I'm not sure it would have the same impact without Drake and Sully.

There are lots of people here who really seem to be in denial of the way the industry is heading.

I only want physical games.
I only want games to stay on my platform.
I don't want AI involved in game creation.

Unfortunately, the ship has sailed.

I said on previous article that I really hope Atari acquire Bluepoint to continue their work the same way that they did with Nightdive and Digital Eclipse. Keep building teams of studios whose expertise is making wonderful ports.
