I don't really watch these kinds of things anymore. Just mainly read the news later back when E3 first really started streaming everything and it was all the big announcements I used to. It also felt like a bigger deal now game and hardware announcements get made all throughout the year so this time of year when E3 would be no longer has the impact. I think getting older has made me less interested in watching all these different announcement videos under the hope I'll see a game I was hoping for.
It still for me feels like a beta version of the game since it has so little content and focuses too much on a mode that doesn't interest me. It's the one game Konami now actually still develops and they are dragging it's development period out over years rather than having a base game then updating it and adding to it as they go. They have been trying to copy Fifa ultimate team mode too much rather than staying with what made the series enjoyable to begin with.
The game really was released years too early. If there hadn't be pressure to release it by a certain date it would never have released in what was essentially an alpha build of the game. I still have a copy of the original disc because they were going for dirt cheap about a year after it launched. It's one of the few active games that has went back up in price for used copies.
While they aren't essential it can still add a bit of fun to a game. I get there are people that only play games for easy trophies and as a result don't really play any games of much substance as they are simply spending money on cheap easy games to brag about it to others and spend every waking moment doing it.
As someone who has a reasonable amount of trophies compared to many people I know usually I will only go for most or all trophies if I have fun with the game in the first place if it is a broken mess but is considered an easy platinum I will skip it because that level of frustration isn't worth some digital trophy.
I will definitely replay some games too because of it as I am sure certain trophies will have me doing things in those games I never did all of those years ago so they can also help people rediscover older games.
@Royalblues releasing another model when there will still be the same semiconductor shortage won't make them more readily available if anything it will just split manufacturing between the two and make the standard PS5 even harder to get. A less powerful model would still share many of the same parts as the full model so that wouldn't really solve the issue.
The problem is many games are still aiming to be running on both the PS4 and Xbox One due to them still being used more than the newer generation hardware. Not really a fault with the developers and publishers doing this as this newer generation is off to a much slower start for many to risk making games exclusively targeting that hardware.
Still baffled why people are never happy with a service like this. People seem to want every game ever made from every PlayStation day one and day one releases too. It's not quite as simple as that. I think with the Ubisoft games and the older games there will just be more overall choice for everyone. If you only like specific games only chances are a service like this will rarely have what you want as you probably already own it.
Would now be interesting to see if they add their PS3 games to streaming part too. People will still complain that every game ever is not included though.
Only ever briefly played a friends copy back when it came out but hopefully these games do come out on the service as many PAL copys tend to fetch a high price as do many jrpgs from that time since they only had limited releases.
While I get some people are against the 50hz versions of older games being on services like this when it comes to many different languages the PAL versions are usually the only ones that offered that option so surely there should be an option for both and not exclude the non-English speakers from understanding certain games because the North American versions tended to rarely have option to change language. So an option to switch between regions would be perfect.
I also love the idea of official Trophy support for these games as there is something about being able to go back and play these games and having a new incentive.
I am really curious as to what PS1, PS2 and PSP games will be added and if any of then will have any added trophy support like the small handful of PS2 games that were released on the PS4 before Sony just gave up on that. Also will be interesting to see if they add any more PS3 games to the existing ones on PS Now as they stopped doing that long ago too. I have a subscription already through until the end of November so will be nice to have the benefits of PS Plus thrown in on top as well as the new extras to try it all out. It really depends on how much they put into the older side of the games and if they don't give up after a year or two like they have with Now.
@KnightRider1982 In all honesty I still use my PS3 from time to time as there are still plenty of games that I missed out on around that time that probably won't ever get a release on any hardware or streaming service going forward because of either licencing issues or the publishers no longer being around. There are also a lot of people who are still earning trophies on a lot of those games so it is popular for that reason too.
On the subject of used and refurbished I am always slightly against refurbished unless you know the person or place you are buying it from and that they have a good track record of fixing things. since once a console has broken down once there is always a chance that the original under lying problem is still there.
Really hope the rumours of this new service launching soon are true as there seems to be more games leaving than being added now. Really surprised they haven't got the majority of first party published games from the PS3 on there let alone most of the PS4 ones. It's like they don't want people using the service.
At a minimum the need to merge the two services. They already have the infrastructure to add more PS3 games for streaming so even without native support the streaming overall is pretty solid now. Emulation for PS1, PS2 and even PSP even natively on PS4 won't be an issue and even if they were to just start with all of their own published games I can't see how it would be a bad selling point since many of those games people many have never played.
Just finished platinuming FF8 and forgot how good some of the enemy designs were in that game. Although 9 is by far my favourite set of designs. It does show you the leap of early PS1 games when most devs had never really done a 3D game to the later ones were everyone started to get to grips with it all.
@Flaming_Kaiser pretty sure it is the beta with the lack of any features or teams anyway and was just rushed out for release to be at the same time as Fifa. The were well aware it was going to have just about nothing to do in it anyway and they were obviously aware of the state of the game because they are unmissable.
It's already better than the last game since that seemed to have nothing t o do with the Star Ocean theme of being set in space. Saying that based on each entry gradually getting worse I don't have much hope.
@sanderson72 pretty sure PS Now runs off of modified PS3 hardware and not emulators. So it's not down to if they can get the games working but if third party publishers want to put their games on the service. Some in the past have opted for remastered versions of games for the PS4 rather than putting the game on a steaming service. The same issue is being had with something like Switch online where publishers would much rather release their older games as part of a collection than have them on their.
There is also the fact that many games have expired licences from the PS3 era even if it seems like the games don't have any some may come down to the music in the game. You would have thought that pretty much all the Sony published games would have been on their by now no matter how obscure.
Would be nice for them to try and get some more PS3 games added as for the most part they have remained the same for a long time and if anything got less as some have been delisted.
@sanderson72 probably not just down to Sony but also of the original publishers are willing to make the dlc available. Saying that it has been some time since they have added too many PS3 games anyway the focus seems to be solely on PS4 games now.
They rushed out a demo of a game so it could be released at the same time as the new Fifa and it actually makes Fifa look like a good purchase of something that will be free... that takes some doing.
I think it's about time Sony combined PS plus, Now and came to an agreement with EA like Microsoft have for Game Pass because in comparison all three of those currently are the only way to match what is on offer for Game Pass and it cost twice as much a month if you had all separately.
Since they have stopped supporting the EA Play app and switched to having to download the games from the PS store on PS4 it is much harder to find the games easily as there is currently no dedicated page to the games.
Having played both games now I would say the problem with both games in terms of battle mechanics is there is very little variety in moves and stats as a whole and while it makes battles quick and fairly even it also removes any strategy from battles to who ever hits the hardest wins as very little can be done to effect the defensive side of battles in the first game. The sequal amends that by adding items known as cores to be able to boost stats like defence and HP but if anything the movesets in the second game are far worse and don't really do much in terms of variety. That said it's not like there would be much point as there is no way to really test those strategies in any kind of competitive battle either within the games or against real people.
@Matroska you are only including one platforms sales figures for a game that was also released on PS2, PS3 and PC and early this year it was reported by BandaiNamco themselves it has sold about 2.4 million copies. So no it hasn't outsold its lifetime sales yet.
From what I am getting it is essentially a demo unless you pay to unlock actual game modes essentially costing the price of a complete game in the end.
I have both the wired and wireless N64 controllers they released and they are all around pretty good and have heard good things about the Dreamcast controller too. So I would imagine these may be similar in overall quality. I may pick this up at some point.
@ATaco while it would be nice for that to happen Hello games did pretty much go silent for the most part while they worked on the first major update over a couple of years while still getting heavily criticed so. People often want conformation that something is being done to fix problems and you don't always get that from developers until the suddenly announce something out of no where.
I purchased this when it was going for dirt cheap when no one wanted it and played the original base game just to get the very easy platinum. I kept the disc on my shelf because despite it feeling empty in many ways I still enjoyed the exploration.
It has turned into a far better bargin than I ever expected with all the updates and for all intents and purposes is a brand new game.
I'm on the fence about this as not sure if you will you have to pay a one off price for master league for the duration of the product or have to pay every year to get roster updates in that mode? If it is the former it will be a worthwhile investment.
