Re: PS5 Stock Shortage Has UK Politicians Pushing for Online Bot Ban

Woogy

@polljord Agreed.

I'm in the 'ECV' as you call it due to LGMD 2A and I'm in the very fortunate position of actually having a digital PS5.

What I would rather most weeks is the simple ability to be able to book a home shopping delivery slot.

The PS5 helps me past the time but, my wife and I still need to eat.

Re: PS5 Stock Shortage Has UK Politicians Pushing for Online Bot Ban

Woogy

@johnvboy If there are egg boxes for sale at only £50 above the RRP on eBay, I'd be even more suspicious of them.

Did you know some jokers are even listing pictures of consoles?!

They put it in the very small print but, still have them listed for hundreds of pounds.

Lower than a snake's belly.

Re: PS5 Stock Shortage Has UK Politicians Pushing for Online Bot Ban

@nessisonett You're right not to trust any politician, regardless of their persuasion. I feel the same.

Just looking at the state of the country right now, I can't see this being any sort of a priority for any government, they have far more pressing matters to deal with.

And even if they did get involved, they would only balls up the legislation.

Personally, I feel the third party platforms that allow the resale of these goods such as game consoles at way above the RRP should adopt a more pro-active stance.

Amazon (UK) doesn't allow it.

If these scalpers don't have a platform to sell on...

Re: Soapbox: PS5's Pad Has Made All Other Controllers Feel Ancient

Woogy

I'm completely underwhelmed with the sound on the PS5, not a single improvement there.

And the way Sony implements HDR needs to be addressed urgently. It's enabled for everything but, not all content is natively rendered in HDR.

But, the new controller, the dual sense is the single best thing so far to impress me about the new console.

Big fan here.

Re: PS5 Now Warns You if You're About to Play the PS4 Version of a Cross-Gen Game

Woogy

I've just purchased my first PS5 game, amplified version of Dirt 5, as it's in the sale.

When I went to download it, it offered me the choice of either version, PS4 or PS5; isn't this the case with every game? Or is it particular to Dirt 5 you're offered either version to download?

Just curious, if it's the former, who would knowingly download the PS4 version (on the PS5).

Re: PS5 Is UK's Best-Selling Console in November 2020

Woogy

@DonJorginho Only the digital versions are holding their price from what I've seen, which is normal.

Disc based PS5 games can be had on eBay from Simply Games trading as Boss Deals for less, most hovering around the £50 mark or even less, in the case of AC Valhalla.

Seeing as I went digital, I've yet to actually purchase and play a dedicated PS5 title as I'm unwilling to pay £70.

I'm waiting for a drop on Dirt 5 and Demons Souls, which @EquiinoxGII has convinced me to try with their previous comment elsewhere on the site .

Cheers!

Re: Soapbox: PS5 Is Pushing Me Ever Closer to All-Digital

Woogy

I went digital cos I use a console for gaming and gaming only. I already have a 4K UHD blu-ray player.

There's zero benefit to using a console as a media center because they just don't cut it.

I hate Sony's ridiculous implementation of HDR though and at the moment, I regret being an early adopter at all.

Bloody stupid idea to force HDR on or off, all the time.

Re: Poll: Is the PS5 DualSense Sony's Best Controller Yet?

Woogy

I love the feedback, I hate the mic. Not needed and won't ever be used by me - muted.

Only just set my PS5 up tonight and thoroughly pi**ed off with the fact HDR is either on or off.

It isn't automatic at all.

Weird implementation by Sony.

Who would use a faux HDR setting? Pointless.

Re: More PS5 Stock This Year, As Sony Enjoys Biggest Ever Launch

Woogy

@NoxAeturnus Scalping has no downsides?

It is morally reprehensible. It prevents genuine fans of the console from getting hold of the hardware at the listed price whilst lining the pockets of a*seholes that have no interest in it.

And in the current climate of uncertainty coupled with the time of year, potentially robs a child of a Christmas gift.

So, big downsides all round, the only winners are the merciless and the greedy.

I hope scalpers suffer immeasurably, the sooner the better.

Re: Poll: Did You Get a PS5?

Woogy

@Artelous I've bought one, after a change of heart, purely to play the PS Plus collection.

There isn't a single launch title that excites me but, it will only get better.

Re: Poll: Did You Get a PS5?

Woogy

'Yes', I had a change of heart yesterday and bagged a digital version on back order from Very.

Due by 17th December, with additional controller and twelve months to pay 0% interest.

Re: PS5 Scalpers Are Selling Systems for $1,500/£1,000 on eBay

Woogy

@thefourfoldroot By all means, make a complaint about the driver for leaving without getting a signature but, please don't make a fraudulent claim.

Those guys work their backsides off, doing very long hours and yet earn a pittance. Not exactly fair to be punished if they have to pay for your console, cos that's what would happen.... it would come out of the driver's wage.

Re: Feature: PS5 Remasters and Remakes We Want

Woogy

Remakes and remasters?!

Jesus, none. I don't want any. I want original titles.

You want to play old games, stick with this generation or the last.

Remakes and remasters are just lazy, the quickest way for a publisher to make a quick buck.

Re: PS5 Game Boost: All Major PS4 Game Improvements

Woogy

Finding out that Sony have no plans to introduce Atmos or Dolby Vision means games will only play in HDR10 and output in 5,1 or 7.1.

Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio just doesn't cut it.

This has zapped all my enthusiasm for the next gen.

I am not paying £450 for a little graphical upgrade, not until there's an exclusive to the PS5.

And anybody hoping to rely on the PS5 as their media center is going to be disappointed. The PS5 won't be able to offer more than your TVs built-in apps, which, depending on your model TV, will likely be able to offer you Atmos and Dolby Vision natively.

Sony dropped the ball not including a 4K UHD drive on the PS4, now they've dropped the ball not embracing object based surround sound fields and dynamic HDR that analyses metadata, scene by scene.

Re: The Best 4K TVs for PS5

Woogy

@LiamCroft The CX shouldn't be on this list and shouldn't be recommended due to issues with VRR and 120Hz.

This is a known issue, acknowledged by LG and there's nothing that can be done about it as it is to do with the panels on C9 and CX models.

Please refer here, where the statement from LG is mentioned - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jfl3UdWZIUQ

I can't be certain but, I think the Sony XH9005 suffers a similar sort of issue. Maybe somebody else can confirm?

Re: PS5 Comes with an HDMI 2.1 Cable, 120FPS Possible Out of the Box

Woogy

@itsMeaningless I wouldn't want anyone to get the wrong information, particularly re HDMI leads, or go out spending lots on them.

The HDMI organisation runs a certification program on leads. Look for that hologram and you won't go wrong.

HDMI leads don't need to cost the earth, they just need to be capable of your required data transfer speeds.

Premium is up to 18Gps, Ultra High Speed (required for the PS5 to get the most out of it and by the sounds of it, included in the box) for speeds up to 48Gps.

Re: PS5 Comes with an HDMI 2.1 Cable, 120FPS Possible Out of the Box

Woogy

@InvaderJim The TVs do not have a known issue, the receivers released so far in 2020 with HDMI 2.1 chipsets on-board do.

It affects 4K120Hz HDR, as well as 8K 60Hz via a receiver.

However, if you're going straight to TV, there's no issue.

And if you do happen to have a 2020 receiver affected, do the same; PS5 to TV and utilise ARC to bypass the known issue.
