Assassin's Creed Valhalla PS5 PS4 PlayStation 4

Here's a Christmas surprise for you all. Sony has sneakily added a message onto PlayStation 5 that should help quell confusion around whether you're playing the PS4 or PS5 version of a game. Up to now, the new console hasn't done a great job of letting you know whether you have the last-gen or new-gen version of a title installed, and it's all been a bit messy. However, a newly discovered pop-up message seems to address this.

Tidux shared the following on Twitter, showing the new message when he selects the PS4 version of Assassin's Creed Valhalla:

It would seem that, if you go to play a PS4 game on your new machine that also has a PS5 version available, you'll get the above prompt. It's an alert that encourages you to swap to the new-gen version of a game so you get the best experience. Not bad.

We've not seen this ourselves yet, but with lots of other people confirming its existence, it seems this is legit. Have you had this message pop up on your PS5? Tell us in the comments section below.
