Re: Sony Reveals Highly Customisable Accessibility Controller for PS5

Woogy

As a disabled gamer myself, I am grateful I still use the DualSense (right now). I have it positioned in such a way in my lap so I am not actually taking the weight of it in my arms.

This is a great concept though. I had resigned myself to the fact, due to my progressive condition, the PS5 and Series X may be my last consoles... or so I thought. Maybe not with this sort of hardware.

I wonder, does it have the ability to vibrate about it somewhere? Like haptic feedback. If so, it would be a good idea if the sensitivity of that is also adjustable on the controller, not only within a games settings, as many are now. Not everyone needs the default setting.

Re: Just an FYI, PS5 VRR Doesn't Work on PS4 Games

Woogy

@BartoxTharglod I've got to the bottom of the problem.

It is because Sony isn't using Freesync to utilise VRR. Sony are relying on the HDMI 2.1 standard for VRR delivery.

This doesn't only exclude Panasonic TV owners like myself, but also countless monitor owners that solely rely on Freesync.

A crazy decision on Sony's part, especially when you consider the processor used in the PS5 is made by AMD.

I'm seriously thinking of getting a series X for all my day to day gaming and keeping the PS5 for the Sony exclusives only.

Re: Just an FYI, PS5 VRR Doesn't Work on PS4 Games

Woogy

@BartoxTharglod Yes, as previously stated, it states up to 120Hz in the SDR and HDR menu and I can play Dirt 5 at 120Hz but, it is locked at 120Hz and not variable.

I think I'm going to raise a support ticket with Panasonic.

Thanks again though for your replies.

Re: Just an FYI, PS5 VRR Doesn't Work on PS4 Games

Woogy

@BartoxTharglod Thank you for your reply and taking the time to do screenshots.

Where on your info banner under 'information for the connected HDMI device' mine says 48-60Hz, regardless of whether I have a game playing or not. Dirt 5 is locked at 120hz, it isn't variable (the game's up to date).

And as I previously stated, I'm not the only fella over on AVForums, scratching their heads, with the same information being presented to them, via Panasonic and LG OLED TVs.

I'm watching football all weekend now but, I'll go through the motions of breaking down my set up Monday and re-seating the HDMI lead, after I replace it, just as a process of elimination. I already reset the TV.

Edit; actually, @BartoxTharglod can you please confirm what make and model TV you have?

Re: Just an FYI, PS5 VRR Doesn't Work on PS4 Games

Woogy

@Reeneman there’s nothing wrong with my set up or anyone else’s over on AVForums.

The PS5 is offering conflicting information under the video resolution information menu. It confirms the TVs are capable of 120Hz in SDR and HDR but, then contradicts itself by claiming, as previously stated, 'the connected HDMI device only supports up to 60Hz'.

My TV plays Dirt 5 in (locked) 120Hz and was one of the first to be able to do so.

#frustrating

Check the information on your PS5 under video resolution information and tell me it says different to mine.

Re: Just an FYI, PS5 VRR Doesn't Work on PS4 Games

Woogy

It isn't working on PS5 games, not up to 120Hz.

LG and Panasonic owners are reporting that the PS5 claims via its dashboard (under video output information) 'the connected HDMI device only supports up to 60Hz' which clearly isn't true.

Another own goal Sony.

Re: All VRR Optimised Games for PS5

Woogy

True to form, Sony has royally fudged up the introduction of VRR. Lots of TV owners are being informed via their PS5 dashboard their respective TVs are only capable of VRR up to 60Hz, which isn't true.

To contradict itself, on the same dashboard menu via the PS5, it confirms the TVs are capable of up to 120Hz in SDR and HDR.

Re: Microsoft Bigwig Implies PS5 Is Losing Marketshare to Xbox

Woogy

Microsoft has the hardware, PlayStation the games.

I hate Sony's half-arsed way they've implemented object based surround sound cos this 3D audio nonsense doesn't cut it, as well as VRR (for some games only, pfft).

And Sony won't embrace Dolby Vision in gaming, just nuts.

Re: Unannounced Remake Project Added to Naughty Dog Employee's Resume

Woogy

Jaysus, all the whining here about the remake not being necessary are some of the same people that bought other remakes of Resident Evil etc.

You don't speak for everyone and I have no doubt whatsoever a remake of TLOU, one of the best games ever PERIOD, will sell by the absolute bucket load.

Re: PS5's DualSense Dubbed the Best Controller of All Time in Public Vote

Woogy

I don't like the Dual Sense for the simple reason it isn't designed to last. I've got two and they've both been replaced due to the cheap components used.

I'm not exactly a hard core gamer or able to stress the units out due to limited dexterity and still both R2 triggers have failed and the replacements are on their way out too.

Why can't Sony give us a pro controller option?!

@playstation1995 #Throw ya gunz in tha air#

I used to listen to old school electro records when I was a teen (which sparked my interest in hip hop) and I've only ever worn Adidas thanks to those fellas from Hollis.

Favorite old school track is Strong Island by JVC Force followed by Talkin' all that Jazz by Stetsasonic.

Word up to you son .

Re: Poll: Did You Buy Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection?

Woogy

Bought the game on disc for the PS4 Pro in 2017, now have a PS5 digital and the game's amongst my collection but, only as a PS Plus version and so unable to upgrade for a tenner.

Surely, this is an anomaly that needs to be addressed.

Happily pay a tenner for a visual and performance upgrade but, no way will I pay £45.

Sent Sony support an email with proof of purchase in 2017 attached.

Re: A 'No Brainer' to Take Advantage of PS5's Power, Wreckfest Dev Teases

Woogy

Seeing as there is hardly anything of actual PS5 games, seeing Wreckest getting a dedicated upgrade patch for the PS5 would be most welcome.

It is by a country mile the best pick up and play racer of the last gen, as well as current gen.

However, on my LG OLED it is a judder fest via the PS5 and I've had to adjust the 4K transfer rate from 'automatic' to -1 to solve it.

Re: This Is Why PS5 Controllers Drift

Woogy

This isn't the only issue facing the DualSense.

There's also the incredibly weak R2 triggers.

Jaysus, could Sony have fudged this up anymore with the PS5?!

Oh yer, their half-arsed way they force HDR.

Re: PS5 Ships 4.5 Million Consoles in First Quarter of Availability

Woogy

The insatiable appetite for the PS5 will be tempered once the masses all start to experience the weak link in the system, the DualSense.

It's no fun having to keep sending your controller away only for it to be replaced with a like for like piece of crap.

Whoever did quality control on this thing needs taking out back and be given a good talking to.

The R2 trigger is not fit for purpose in its current state.

And it doesn't like feedback when you're trying to accelerate in a racing game like Dirt5. It constantly clicks, as you try to squeeze and it pushes against you.

That isn't natural.

The forum on this website has numerous people experiencing the same issue with the R2 trigger, and there are loads more over on AVForums too.

It's no consolation to anyone that doesn't have a console but, as an early adopter I expected problems with software, not hardware.

Re: PS5 Scalpers Continue to Scoop Up New Stock

Woogy

@si2525 You yourself said in post #51 you had two PS5's and sold one for profit.

Ergo, you are part of the problem.

And yet you've got the brass ones to continue to sit here, pontificating, post after post, about it's everyone else's own fault.

Wind your neck in.

Re: Poll: Do You Have a PS5?

Woogy

I have a PS5 (digital).

Disappointed one of the two dual sense's I have, the right trigger has already gone. Subsequently been returned.

And that's just from playing PS4 games, with the exception of Dirt 5.

I'd hope they would be a bit more reliable than that, seeing as my previous two dual shocks lasted the life of my PS4 Pro.

Re: UK Sales Charts: Hitman 3 Physical Sales Exceed Hitman 2, 49% of Sales on PS5

Woogy

Seeing as IO has revealed that it has “already started working on RT (ray tracing) technology for the renderer in our Glacier engine, and once that’s deemed ready for prime time, we’ll definitely bring it to the Series X|S hardware.”, I shall wait until the same announcement arrives re the PS5 version.

Then I shall commit to purchase but, not before.
