I can't remember where I read this so unfortunately I can't add a link. I read a couple of years back that the developer had to totally change the way the game was played because it was a different game from what everyone was expecting. Most of us thought RIME was very similar to ICO & Zelda The Wind Waker, when actually is was nothing like the two. Infact it wasn't the kind of adventure game that we all thought it was, and because of that and all of the hype surrounding the new IP the developer tried to bring the game closer to what we thought it was.
I know this kinda sounds like I am making it up, and I really wish I could remember where I had read about it, but I have been racking my aging brain and searching the net for the last several months with no luck. I also briefly mentioned it on here before and Sammy asked if I had a link and thats why I have been searching for any information, but unfortunately I couldn't find anything.
If this is true and I didn't just imagine it haha it would almost explain some of the reasons why this title hasn't been shown for the last couple of years. I have a feeling that RIME will never see the light of day but if it does it won't quite be what we were hoping for.
I really hope that the developer can get this game out because whatever form it takes I will definitely be interested. I also hope for the developers sake they can get it finished and released because I have a feeling they have been really struggling with this one so I wish them all the luck.
For anybody thats thinking about pre ordering the PSVR headset. The video game store known as GAME are taking a minimum deposit of £100. I was going to pre order it yesterday and when they asked for £100 I was absolutely shocked. When I pre ordered my PS4 they only wanted £25, so why they want £100 for is beyond me. Looks like I may have to wait until payday to place my deposit.
I hate having to give GAME my money. I may have to check with Tesco as I much prefer buying my games from them as they're much cheaper, plus their store is across the road from my house so a midnight release would work out great.
@tilbrook79 100% No it won't. Even if the PS4 had enough USB ports and an extra HDMI port, it is nowhere near powerful enough.
If PSVR is a big hit with consumers, and im pretty sure it will be, you can pretty much guarantee that the PlayStation 5 will support multiple VR devices.
@JAbroni1002 I think they went a different way because of it being VR and not expecting people to sit playing it for too long of a session, unlike other gaming formats. I agree with what you're saying though. As it is, how long will this game hold our attention. Yeah it has randomly generated levels but, without multiplayer or the strategy you pointed out its going to get boring once the excitement of VR wears off.
Though I must say, this will be a good one to show your friends how good VR actually is. I just can't get past the lack of multiplayer. But having said that, this is in my top 10 VR games so far.
I just wish they included multiplayer as it would be amazing chasing down friends in a tank. It would also give it longevity too. Having played the original in the 80's I was actually looking forward to this one.
It doesn't come with the "mandatory" camera which means its closer to £400 plus the price of a game. The Rift, while more expensive, comes with a game or two aswell as a controler and a camera.
As much as I am looking forward to PSVR, im going to wait for better games and a bundle deal that is reduced. No way am I paying £350 for the headset, £40+ for the camera which will be hard to find pre owned and then whatever the Move controllers cost.
When purchased separately and with a couple of games you're looking at the best part of £500.
I payed £350 for my PS4 at launch and that came with a game.
@belmont It was never going to be wireless for a number of reasons. Battery life and the main one being latency, something Sony has been trying to reduce.
@Boerewors Releasing it at that price would send out the message that the PlayStation version of VR is just a cheap knockoff. It will be around £249-£299 $349-$399 as Sony have already stated it will be treated like a console release.
Cross play between PS4 and XB1 would be interesting. I can hear the trash talk now haha.
Cross play between console and PC works for some games whereas is would be totally unbalanced for others. Frame rate would be a massive issue for console gamers when playing multiplayer PvP first and third person shooters, with PC gamers having the edge.
Seen this on the Rift a while ago. I would definitely like to try it for myself.
I was really looking forward to PSVR until I saw the HTC Vive. The Vive blows everything else out of the water.
If the PSVR is priced high and the games don't jump out at me, I may put my money towards building a gaming PC instead and get the Vive down the line. That is looking like the only true VR experience at the minute.
Im going to wait for the GOTY edition which should drop around November. That way I will have another massive Fallout adventure waiting for me. Besides, im nowhere near finished with the main quest.
I can't wait!!! I remember when games started getting health warnings because of kids having seizures while playing games like Sonic. What kind of health warnings is Thumper VR going to need???
@SonyInfinity Im of the same opinion. While I really enjoyed both the closed and open beta's, I can't really invest the time needed to really experience this game and what it has to offer. Most of my friends have it and of course I feel like I am missing out somewhat, but I already have a large amount of top games I still need to finish, not to mention all the other top games due for release over the next couple of months.
So its a shame then that The Division didn't release when there wasn't much else on offer.
I am really looking forward to playing the Uncharted 4 campaign but, after playing the multiplayer beta I am also looking forward to that too. The trouble with the Uncharted series is, they are that good I end up finishing them pretty quick as they're just so addictive. Im hoping Uncharted 4 is atleast as long as The Last of Us, which took me around 17hrs on hard. Im going to try and take my time by searching everywhere for treasure. If I play it on hard or crushing (if available from the start) and try and get all the collectables on my first playthrough I should be able to squeeze around 20hrs from the campaign. This is supposedly the last Uncharted by Naughty Dog so I really don't want to rush it.
Im surprised that people still play this game. While I thought it was ok, I did get pretty bored after about a week. Nice to see that its still being supported then.
@SuperSilverback Yeah Ratchet & Clank looks really good! I love The Witcher 3, but I haven't finished it yet, which is fine because I like to make my RPG's last for aslong as possible. I've still only done five main quests in Fallout 4 as I've just been doing side quests and exploring. I also like to bounce between The Witcher and Fallout. They're my goto Sunday games
I absolutely love The Witcher 3! It's easily the best RPG I have played this generation. As much as I love Fallout 4 its world doesn't come close to The Witchers world. The world of the Witcher actually seems more real and lived in. Though having said that I won't be getting the expansion if it does release in April. That month is already going to be an expensive one due to Uncharted 4, Ratchet & Clank, DOOM and I think Mirrors Edge 2. We also have Dark Souls 3 due out around that time. This is why I have decided to pass on The Division this week. There are just too many top games due for release and I would rather play those over The Division.
Gearbox must be worried because they also have a game very similar to Overwatch due for release and from what I have played of it doesn't seem as good as Overwatch.
@Grawlog They are also great when it comes to supporting their games for a couple of years post launch with free updates. Diablo only recently got new content and modes for free.
@Frank90 Doubt its gonna cost more than the PS4. $399 is my guess. Sony know that alot of people use a console because its cheaper than a PC. Also Sony can afford to break even at first and then make a profit once its selling and the parts get cheaper. They will also make their money from the games.
@JerriKoe I highly doubt it will cost more than the PS4. There will obviously be bundles for PSVR. From what I have heard you will be able to purchase the headset as a stand alone device, with or without the camera (though you will need the camera) with the PS Move controllers, with a game and obviously the complete bundle. I will be happy with just the camera and headset as I will be using my DUALSHOCK 4 for the VR games I want. I will also be using a steering wheel for DriveClub which is going to be so much fun in Virtual Reality.
I really enjoyed this on XB1 but I think I will enjoy it even more on PS4 since most of my friends are on there. It will be interesting to see if there have been many changes since it first released on XB1. I've never really been a MOBA fan but, there is just something about SMITE. Roll on the 23rd of March.
I just hope I can drag my friends away from The Division.
@Johnnycide I couldn't agree with you more. I didn't know about Galak-Z until last week but, thanks to PlayStation Plus I not only now know about Galak-Z, I now own it too as part of the IGC. There have been more than a few spoilt cry babies complaining about this months IGC because they want triple A games and not these rubbish indie games. We go Galak-Z & Broforce and they're both really good games that are also probably better than whatever triple A games we may have got. Galak-Z is definitely way more fun than Knack which people keep asking for.
I don't mean to be rude but, Sam Brooke looks like he's fifteen years old. That is his photo right??? Haha. Some people can't seem to see past the price or the fact that it was developed by an independent studio which in my opinion is blind sighted. The asking price is certainly justified and the fact that its developed by an independent studio makes me love it more so. Too many people treat the term "indie" as if it means cheap, rubbish or not a real game, which I find absolutely stupid. Some of the most fun and addictive games are developed by independent developers these days with the bigger AAA studios games just becoming the same game in a new skin re released every year or two. Independent studios innovate and take risks the larger studios can't. I've lost count of many big studios have either gone bankrupt, closed their doors or moved over to mobile/cell phone games because console games development has become very expensive and very risky. And on top of those risks they have pretty much left the retail price largely the same when really they should have upped the price instead. All it takes is one game to flop and it could mean game over for the studios and peoples jobs.
People need to stop complaining about independent games and the prices because its actually nowhere near as bad or expensive as the spoilt little children make it out to be.
I was really looking forward to The Division right upto playing both the closed and open beta. I had a tonne of fun and so did my friends.
