Our earliest memory of the Oddworld franchise comes courtesy of a short PSone demo based on the very first game - and at the time, we thought it was absolutely mental. In fact, we still think that Oddworld is mental, but we've grown more accustomed to the weird and wonderful property over the years.
2015 saw the release of Oddworld: New 'N' Tasty - a remake of the original - and now, publisher Oddworld Inhabitants is teasing what seems to be another reimagining of sorts. Apparently due to release next year, Oddworld: Soulstorm is described as "a fresh narrative - a complete story retake inspired by our original tale" - the original tale being the second title in the series, Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus.
Sadly, that's just about all we know right now. The upcoming project has a teaser website, but there are no screenshots or trailers to pick apart. With that in mind, we'll hopefully hear more about the game as we move through 2016.
Are you ready for another trip into the twisted world of Abe and his fellow Mudokons? Try not to get blended into meaty chunks in the comments section below.

I really hope this is being developed by the same people that did New N' Tasty, because that game was awesome. I still trust Oddworld Inhabitants though
It's always good news to hear the Oddworld series is being continued. I will definitely be keeping an eye on the studio for any new announcements.
@Anchorsam_9 I can't imagine it won't be.
Small error; New N Tasty came out in 2014 not 2015
SO glad the Oddworld series is alive again, Exoddus was my favorite too
I just hope it'll be released in Japan as well.
@Anchorsam_9 So you want 2D? I rather have a New strangers wrath type of game. Munch oddysee also was superb for that time.
@Sanquine I think it's a lot better in 2D in my opinion - there are certain franchises that are much better in 2D than 3D, not only Oddworld, but also Sonic and other series
