@Slyfox30 Deal with it??? Most people buy console because they know they won't need to upgrade for atleast 5 years. VR needs more than 60fps. It actually needs 90fps which the PS4 and PSVR combined can achieve a refresh rate of upto 120hz.
Sony already supposedly have first party devs taking advantage of PS4.5 which would mean that all those that made the PS4 successful have been screwed since their version would be downgraded to less res and frame rate.
Confirmed to release this holiday and priced at $400. It already has games in development for it. Basically you 3 year old PS4 will pretty much lose most of the money you payed for it.
@thatguyEZ I totally agree. The PS4 will be 3 years old this year so Sony should just wait 2 more years and release the PS5 which they could insure is way more future proof.
If they do release an PS4.5 I will lose total faith in them. They've already nearly lost me with ho they treated the Vita.
Nearly 40 million people have purchased a PS4 but will now feel that their new console is already outdated (which it is in PC terms) when compared to other consoles. Its very unfair of Sony to expect those people to spend another £350 if they want to enjoy PSVR properly which is another £350 for that device too.
@thatguyEZ If they release the PS5 in 2019/20 that would give the PS4 another 3/4 of life which by then it would be way to outdated. VR would be pointless too. They should release the PS5 around 2017/18 at the latest.
After all the good work they have done getting people to purchase a PS4 that will all be undone by releasing a newer more powerful PS4 mid cycle. While a few people will purchase it, I won't be one. Once Uncharted 4 and Horizon Zero Dawn are finished with I will sell my PS4 and go over to PC. Sony releasing a newer more powerful PS4 so early on could seriously damage future console sales. Why would someone spend £350 on a PS4 and another £350 on the PSVR and ANOTHER £350 on a newer PS4 because the old one isn't powerful enough for VR and or 1080p 60fps. I think the sales of the PS4 have gone to their heads. If this is true I will have lost all respect for them and so will millions of others. We could have another Sega situation all over again and if so, it serves Sony right.
@Dr_Coos74 You're talking absolute rubbish. They did release free content regardless of the total revenue earned. They also released the campaign first which in my experience worked just fine. They did have a few connection issues once they released the online side of GTAV, but that was to be expected with the amount of traffic.
Why don't you do yourself a favour and purchase the games later on instead of crying about a game that nobody else on here had an issue with.
@Raten I see your to me was removed. There was no need to insult me and I never said anything bad about the Vita. My issues were the way Sony had handled the pricing of the memory cards and the terrible way it was marketed. There was no need to insult me, but I guess it just proved how immature you are.
Oh I see now, you had created a new profile just to because you don't have a back bone to say what you did on a regular profile. Fool.
Im sorry Sammy but you are wrong. Xbox has millions of subs and they have had more AAA's games. They got Lords of the Fallen and Sherlock this month. They also got Assassins Creed BF when I had an XB1. Just because PS4 has around 25mil subs doesn't mean they can't give us older games once in a while.
People still think that the little black box that comes as part of the PSVR holds a processing unit inside that helps the PS4 with some extra power needed for the Virtual Reality headset. Actually it is nothing of the sort. All it does is split the image so you can have a game being displayed on both the TV and the PSVR at the same time. They had to do it that way because the PS4 only has one AV/HD port. It does help with 3D sound effects which will reduces the pressure that would a be put on the APU inside of the PS4. The little black box has no extra processing power whats so ever.
If Sony do release a "super charged PS4" later on then I will definitely purchase one because it will seriously help with Virtual Reality gaming. I really don't care whether it does or does not output newer games in 4k. My only condition is just as long as it isn't released until very late next year because by then the PS4 will be 4 years old. That way the PS4 would hopefully be powerful enough to give us another good few years before Sony release the PS5. If however they release the PS4.5 too early I will just sell my PS4 and move over to PC gaming.
One other thing, Sony had better make sure that they market the upgraded PS4 in such a way that those of us that have been loyal don't feel as though we are being forgot about. That may be a tall order for Sony because their marketing skills leave alot to be desired. Just look at how they have marketed Ratchet & Clanck, or should I say haven't marketed it.
If they do it right they had better make sure that the PS4.5 will last us for years to come otherwise they may have a disaster on their hands and burn any and all the good will that they have earded since releasing the PS4.
I have finally pre ordered my PSVR and a friend of mine who works in a certain game store said that they have been selling a lot more pre orders than they were expecting. Of those 50 launch window games alot of them are not going to be as good as some may hope. The games I am getting with it are, RIGS, Battlezone and EVE. Those three games will keep me going until the bigger AAA's arive.
The great thing is Sony have around 250 developers currently working on Virtual Reality aswell as all the other studios that are making games for the Oclus Rift and the HTC Vive.
I totally understand that its going to take a couple of years before developers really get to grips with these new devices, but I am in it for the long hall. I believe that within a year PSVR will have those must have games that will really help to sell the device.
With the way pre order sales are going I cant see it being an issue. Anyone lucky enough to have already tried PSVR will already know the potential for the PlayStations version of VR. The only problem PSVR will have at first is convincing those people who still believe that Virtual Reality is just a fad,but how wrong those people are.
If game stores have the unit on display with the likes of Battlezone then the VR headset will pretty much sell itself. I just hope they have games like that to demo instead of some stupid party games otherwise its going to be difficult to convince those none believers
But I really think that is actually going to come down to those early adopters who show their friends and family. I see no reason that by Xmas 2017 that Sony will have easily sold somewhere between 2-3 million units worldwide. That may not sound that much, but when you take into account the sales from the HTC Vive and Oclus Rift too those numbers will rise alot higher.
I was really looking forward to getting SOMA ever since it was first announced, but after seeing the price tag I decided to wait and see if it its added to the IGC. I know games development costs have gone up this generation, but I refuse to pay anymore than between £10-£15. £20 plus is alot to ask in my opinion. Far enough if the game gives me dozens of hours like The Witness does or the upcoming No Man' Sky. I also don't mind that its an independent development. I just cant justify spending over £20 for a game that lasts less than 10 hours.
Having played the Sony mobile games which I thought were absolute gash I will be avoiding like the black death. Besides, after the way they treated the PSVita I refuse to support any kind of mobile games developed or published by Sony.
There were so many AAA's planned for the amazing system that was the Vita for Sony to go and cancel them. If it wasn't for the very poor marketing, very expensive memory cards and first party Vita game cancellations the handheld device could have done so much better.
While I understand that Sony releasing the Vita when IOS and Android were dominating the market was a very risky move, it didn't help with them cancelling games like the Uncharted Golden Abyss sequel which development had actually started for aswell as not giving us a Vita Version of Infamous and GT. Their excuse at the time was, they didn't want to release too many big games on the Vita as not to overcrowd it. That statement makes be laugh because the Vita was anything but overcrowded.
I also understand why they went with their own memory cards because they didn't want the system being hacked, that I can totally understand. What I and many others couldn't except was the ridiculous price of those memory cards.
But as my original point suggested, the Sony mobile games I played were absolutely terrible and reminded me on games made for the Atari 2600.
I have total faith in VR in general and according to Sony there is around 50 games that will launch within its release window. If it wasn't for multiple companies heavily investing in Virtual Reality I would even bother giving Sony the benefit of doubt. I've already payed around £300 for the Vita with Sony promising alot of support from multiple studios, something they said the Vita would have. They did however give some kind of compensation to those in North America because of the out right lies they made and as such were pulled up on that. We in the UK and Europe didn't get such an offer even though PlayStation sells better over here. What would happen if Sony were the only company investing in VR and it didn't get the suppot they promised. That would be £350-£400 down the drain.
And not they are in talks of developing a more powerful PS4 when the original PS4 is only two han a half years old. Talk about dividing your user base. People are saying its mainly to support PSVR. Does that mean that after we purchase PSVR we're later going to have to purchase a new more powerful system. With the Price of my original PS4 the PS4.5 and a PSVR device aswell as the camera I would be better of building a VR capable PC and then saving for the superior HTC Vive.
Yeah I can trade in my old PS4 towards the PS4.5 but by then the trade value of the original PS4 will be alot less.
Sorry for getting off topic and for my long commets.
Rant over haha.
@Gamer83 I have been saying the same for a while now. Microsoft are a lot better when it comes to marketing their first party games, whereas Sony only seem to push their third party deals these days. To be honest, a good amount of my friends had either forgot about this game or weren't aware of it at all. Sony really need to start brushing up in their marketing department otherwise they might not see the sales that this game deserves. Infact, Microsoft did a much better job of marketing Insomniacs XB1 exclusive that was Sunset Overdrive. Atleast, like you say, Sony have done a good job at pricing the new Ratchet & Clank. We can get it for the great price of £25 which is really cheap when compared to the usual game prices of £50.
I didn't experience the Ratchet & Clank games until recently via PlayStation Now. Being an old school gamer I grew up on platform games like Chucky Egg, Alex Kid, Mega Man, Sonic and last but no means least, the king of platform games, Mario. It wasn't until I played Ratchet & Clank that I realised how much I have missed 3D platformers. It seems that games these days are catered for the more mature gamers, which is a massive shame because 3D platform games can be so much fun for all ages. Ratchet & Clank proving that with its bright colour palate, cute characters and vibrant world. Then throwing in humour for all ages, some for the younger audience, and then of course, the humour only adults will understand.
As much as I want Dark Souls 3, im afraid that is going to have to wait because I seriously cannot wait for Ratchet & Clank. Im just very surprised that Sony have done very little in regards to marketing this game as not only does it appeal to a wide audience, its also linked to the upcoming movie as well as it being a great showpiece to the power of the PS4.
Sony doesn't have a mascot that appeals to all ages like Nintendo has with Mario and Sega had with Sonic the Hedgehog. I think the Ratchet & Clank characters would be the perfect mascot in my opinion.
I also think that Sony should be ashamed of themselves for not marketing this game alot sooner, and if it fails to sell a tonne of units Sony will be partly to blame.
Also, why do we in Europe have to wait an extra 10 days for this game when usually its only 3 days after North America. Doesn't seem fair to me
@get2sammyb That's just it. With games development costs being higher than they have ever been, does it really make sense in Sony releasing a more powerful machine. Surely it will cost even more for developers to create games in 4k and take advantage of new hardware.
In my 30 years of gaming I have never been so unsure about the future of my favourite medium.
Thanks Sony! DriveClub, although had a rocky start, is now an amazing game and definitely deserving of a sequel. All we seem to see this generation is studios closing their doors. It's definitely a good job we have so many independent studios making games these days.
PlayStation Plus is lagging behind Games with Gold. XB1 has seen a few AAA already with Lords of the Fallen being its latest offering.
To be honest i really don't care what Sony offers up. I won't renew my subscription once it runs out. I rarely play online and 85% of the games Sony offers with plus don't interest me. Back on PS3 I really felt I was getting value for money. Im still thinking about giving up on console gaming and just moving over to PC.
If games can be made to look this good, do we really need Sony to release a Supercharged PS4. Im stull under the belief they should just wait until the PS5 which is probably only around 3 years away.
@get2sammyb I think that this project will be great for those people that are very creative. I also think this is a similar way in which future games will be made by smaller studios but obviously using other development kits like UR4 and Unity. I believe that all development kits will all eventually be much more user friendly. Its nice to see Media Molecule getting in a at user level by making it fun and totally user friendly. I just wish we had this 20 years ago as I might be in a very different place now. A big kudos to them.
@NomNom @BAMozzy @WanderingBullet Some time ago they had started work on a science fiction RPG, which I think was set in space or on another planet, but unfortunately Sony cancelled that project for whatever reason. It's a massive shame then because Sony Santa Monica is a very talented studio (whether we liked the GOW games or not, we can all appreciate how amazing they looked and played) and I would have loved to have seen what else they could do.
It can't be easy for any developer when they have to keep making the same games over and over again. They've been working on the God of War series for years. In fact they have been working on the God of War series since 2005, with a new version every few years.
God of War 2005
God of War 2 2007
God of War Chains of Olympus 2008
God of War Ghosts of Sparta 2010
God of War 3 2010
God of War Ascension 2013
And maybe God of War 4 2016
As much as those developers, Artists, Programers etc wanted to get into games development and enjoy their jobs, it can't be fun or easy working on the same IP for over a decade. How do you keep being creative when you aren't pushing yourself in new directions and creating new ideas.
Games development usually takes around 3-4 years, and possibly more when you're working with new hardware. If they release a new GOW this year or next year it doesn't leave them much time to develop a brand new IP to launch this generation. The PS4 will be 3 years old this November, so if they don't manage to release a new GOW until next year, then they will maybe have enough time left to develop a new IP before Sony move on to the PS5.
If it takes them around 3-4 years to develop a new game after releasing GOW next year, the PS4 will be between 7-8 years old by the time their next game releases. Most people (including Sony I think) have already said this generation won't last as long as the PS3 & XB360 did.
I know Sony Santa Monica can do more than God of War, Sony just needs to let them try something new.
Don't me wrong though, I actually enjoy the God of War series, but I am sick of the same Greek Mythology. If they're working on a new title in the series, I really hope it has something new. Maybe Norse Mythology or something.
@SonyInfinity I don't know mate. 3+ years is a long time in regards to technology and because of that 4k TV prices will have come down loads by then. You can already find them for less than £500. Even if most people Haven't upgraded to 4k by then, im sure Sony will be under the belief that they will during the PS5 lifecycle.
Anyway, I like you, hope the PS5 is 4k ready because if its not consoles will be even further behind PC's which wouldn't be good for developers.
@Grawlog Even though Sony now use AMD architecture it still takes devs a while to get used to the hardwarel. Why do you think the first wave of PS4 games were so buggy.
@Napples I highly doubt we will have to wait until the PS6 (It's doubtful Sony will make a PS6 simply because by then they will be streaming games) because AMD, who Sony used for the PS4 architecture, have developed a new GPU that runs games in 4k and is cheaper than NVIDIA's chipset. That GPU will be even cheaper by the time Sony release the PS5. Also, after all the moaning gamers have been doing this generation about resolution and frame rate it would be a stupid move to not support 4k 60fps in a console thats around 3 years away.
@ShogunRok Well considering it takes developers a couple of years to get get used to new hardware and the rising cost of development with each generation, which has seen some studios close their doors already, yeah, I think its very different from mobile phones. Most people get a new phone cheap because of their contract. Also, could you really see console gamers dropping £350-£400 every 18 months.
If Sony do this I will sell my PS4 and switch to PC. My console is two and a half years old and I don't see why I should have to purchase a new system if I want to play new games. The reason I am a console gamer is because I know every game will work on my system.
@stevie85 I actually still own Dragon Age Origins on PS3, but I haven't got very far into it to be honest. If I didn't have a backlog I might be inclined to give it another try after enjoying Dragon Age Inquisition.
@themcnoisy I absolutely loved Baldurs Gate! Played it through multiple times. It's one of the reasons I got into Diablo 3. There was just something about Diablo that gave me this fix I craved in the absence of Baldurs Gate.
@stevie85 Yeah I thought his comment was a bit harsh also. I really enjoyed Dragon Age Inquisition, which surprised me as I wasn't into the previous 2 games. Even though it was also on previous gen I thought it looked great to be fair.
@dryrain @themcnoisy Dragon Age Inquisition is not terrible at all. I couldn't get into the previous Dragon Age games, but Inquisition was a top game. Not sure why you would call it a terrible game and advise someone not to put themselves through it. Fair enough if you didn't like it, but it was very well received and actually got really good reviews pretty much across the board.
The Witcher 3 & Fallout 4 are two of my favourite PS4 games. The strange thing I have noticed about The Witcher 3 is, for some reason its saying that my total playtime stands at around 14 days, which means I have put in around 336hrs. I am only around half way through the campaign, but I have done a million other things like, monster hunting, side quests, crafting and site seeing. Still, even with all that I don't understand why the game thinks I have been playing for 336hrs. I put 170hrs into Fallout 3 and got every achievement and I put over 250hrs into Skyrim, but I totally believe those counters. Has anyone else experienced this or is it just me? haha
I don't understand why people have such an issue with remastered games. While not all remasters make sense, alot of them do. With game development costs going through the roof, remasters can help drum up some much needed cash, aswell as gauge peoples interest in possible sequels. The money earned from said remasters can then be put towards future projects. Nobody is forcing us to purchase them but, I love getting remastered games that are done in the right way ie trilogys and or all dlc.
I wasn't a massive fan of the Bioshock series and I have never finished one but, if this has updated graphics aswell as being priced right I may have to have another crack at them.

Maybe pick up DS3 later when its less than £20

Oh and the Oblivion dlc was more like 35hrs.

Doesn't seem fair to me
Re: Sony Shuts Down DriveClub Developer Evolution Studios
@WOOKiEKiLL Not counting all the studios Microsoft has closed recently too.
Re: Sony Shuts Down DriveClub Developer Evolution Studios
@get2sammyb That's just it. With games development costs being higher than they have ever been, does it really make sense in Sony releasing a more powerful machine. Surely it will cost even more for developers to create games in 4k and take advantage of new hardware.
In my 30 years of gaming I have never been so unsure about the future of my favourite medium.
Re: Sony Shuts Down DriveClub Developer Evolution Studios
Thanks Sony! DriveClub, although had a rocky start, is now an amazing game and definitely deserving of a sequel. All we seem to see this generation is studios closing their doors. It's definitely a good job we have so many independent studios making games these days.
Re: Hyper Light Drifter's Final Trailer Is Rather Rad
@WOOKiEKiLL
The one you've been waiting for buddy. I must admit, this looks awesome!
Re: Talking Point: What April PlayStation Plus Freebies Do You Want?
PlayStation Plus is lagging behind Games with Gold. XB1 has seen a few AAA already with Lords of the Fallen being its latest offering.
To be honest i really don't care what Sony offers up. I won't renew my subscription once it runs out. I rarely play online and 85% of the games Sony offers with plus don't interest me. Back on PS3 I really felt I was getting value for money. Im still thinking about giving up on console gaming and just moving over to PC.
Re: PS4 Exclusive Uncharted 4 Is the Most Visually Stunning Game Ever Created
If games can be made to look this good, do we really need Sony to release a Supercharged PS4. Im stull under the belief they should just wait until the PS5 which is probably only around 3 years away.
Re: PS4 Exclusive Uncharted 4 Is the Most Visually Stunning Game Ever Created
@Splat Risi of the Tomb Raider does look very good, but I think Uncharted 4 actually looks better.
Re: Dreams May Just Be the Most Mind Boggling PS4 Game Yet
@get2sammyb I think that this project will be great for those people that are very creative. I also think this is a similar way in which future games will be made by smaller studios but obviously using other development kits like UR4 and Unity. I believe that all development kits will all eventually be much more user friendly. Its nice to see Media Molecule getting in a at user level by making it fun and totally user friendly. I just wish we had this 20 years ago as I might be in a very different place now. A big kudos to them.
Re: God of War Maker Hiring for Massive PS4 Exclusive
Re: Uncharted 4: A Thief's End Is Finally Finished on PS4
@glassmusic Oh crikey please no... I hope I haven't hexed it now haha

Re: This Ain't the Greatest PS4 Flash Sale You'll Ever See
Wow! The European Easter sale is loads better, which makes a change.
Re: Uncharted 4: A Thief's End Is Finally Finished on PS4
Let's just hope that the place thats printing the disks doesn't get hit by an act of god haha
Can't wait for this game!
Re: Rumour: Sony's Building a Supercharged PS4 Console
@SonyInfinity I don't know mate. 3+ years is a long time in regards to technology and because of that 4k TV prices will have come down loads by then. You can already find them for less than £500. Even if most people Haven't upgraded to 4k by then, im sure Sony will be under the belief that they will during the PS5 lifecycle.
Anyway, I like you, hope the PS5 is 4k ready because if its not consoles will be even further behind PC's which wouldn't be good for developers.
Re: Rumour: Sony's Building a Supercharged PS4 Console
@Napples Your wrong about AMD, but you're entitled to your opinion.
Re: Rumour: Sony's Building a Supercharged PS4 Console
@Grawlog Even though Sony now use AMD architecture it still takes devs a while to get used to the hardwarel. Why do you think the first wave of PS4 games were so buggy.
Re: Rumour: Sony's Building a Supercharged PS4 Console
@Napples I highly doubt we will have to wait until the PS6 (It's doubtful Sony will make a PS6 simply because by then they will be streaming games) because AMD, who Sony used for the PS4 architecture, have developed a new GPU that runs games in 4k and is cheaper than NVIDIA's chipset. That GPU will be even cheaper by the time Sony release the PS5. Also, after all the moaning gamers have been doing this generation about resolution and frame rate it would be a stupid move to not support 4k 60fps in a console thats around 3 years away.
Re: Rumour: Sony's Building a Supercharged PS4 Console
@Dreamcaster-X But then the PS4 would be holding back the PS4.5 simply because the developer wouldn't be able to fully optimize.
Re: Rumour: Sony's Building a Supercharged PS4 Console
@ShogunRok Well considering it takes developers a couple of years to get get used to new hardware and the rising cost of development with each generation, which has seen some studios close their doors already, yeah, I think its very different from mobile phones.
Most people get a new phone cheap because of their contract. Also, could you really see console gamers dropping £350-£400 every 18 months.
Re: Rumour: Sony's Building a Supercharged PS4 Console
If Sony do this I will sell my PS4 and switch to PC. My console is two and a half years old and I don't see why I should have to purchase a new system if I want to play new games. The reason I am a console gamer is because I know every game will work on my system.
Re: The Witcher 3 Will Never Stop Winning Game of the Year Awards at This Rate
@stevie85 I actually still own Dragon Age Origins on PS3, but I haven't got very far into it to be honest. If I didn't have a backlog I might be inclined to give it another try after enjoying Dragon Age Inquisition.
Re: The Witcher 3 Will Never Stop Winning Game of the Year Awards at This Rate
@themcnoisy I absolutely loved Baldurs Gate! Played it through multiple times. It's one of the reasons I got into Diablo 3. There was just something about Diablo that gave me this fix I craved in the absence of Baldurs Gate.
Re: The Witcher 3 Will Never Stop Winning Game of the Year Awards at This Rate
@stevie85 Yeah I thought his comment was a bit harsh also. I really enjoyed Dragon Age Inquisition, which surprised me as I wasn't into the previous 2 games. Even though it was also on previous gen I thought it looked great to be fair.
Re: The Witcher 3 Will Never Stop Winning Game of the Year Awards at This Rate
@dryrain @themcnoisy Dragon Age Inquisition is not terrible at all. I couldn't get into the previous Dragon Age games, but Inquisition was a top game. Not sure why you would call it a terrible game and advise someone not to put themselves through it. Fair enough if you didn't like it, but it was very well received and actually got really good reviews pretty much across the board.
Re: The Witcher 3 Will Never Stop Winning Game of the Year Awards at This Rate
@stevie85 Dual gen? Do you mean PC, PS4 & XB1? Not sure what you mean by that.
Re: The Witcher 3 Will Never Stop Winning Game of the Year Awards at This Rate
@ApostateMage Ok so its not just me then. It's a strange one that.
Re: The Witcher 3 Will Never Stop Winning Game of the Year Awards at This Rate
Has anyone else experienced this or is it just me? haha
Re: Would You Kindly Feast Your Eyes on BioShock PS4's Pretty Box Art?
I don't understand why people have such an issue with remastered games. While not all remasters make sense, alot of them do. With game development costs going through the roof, remasters can help drum up some much needed cash, aswell as gauge peoples interest in possible sequels. The money earned from said remasters can then be put towards future projects. Nobody is forcing us to purchase them but, I love getting remastered games that are done in the right way ie trilogys and or all dlc.
I wasn't a massive fan of the Bioshock series and I have never finished one but, if this has updated graphics aswell as being priced right I may have to have another crack at them.
Re: TrackMania: Turbo Open Beta Boosts onto PS4 This Weekend
@BloodyBill It's not available on the UK store just yet either.
Re: TrackMania: Turbo Open Beta Boosts onto PS4 This Weekend
The beta isn't available just yet. Anyone know when it will be added to the store?
Re: TrackMania: Turbo Open Beta Boosts onto PS4 This Weekend
@Anchorsam_9 Don't forget that its also PSVR compatible too.
Re: TrackMania: Turbo Open Beta Boosts onto PS4 This Weekend
You guys forgot to mention that TrackMania is compatible with PSVR.
I have really been looking forward to this game!
