Tesco have been selling MGSPP for £17 for a good while. Whether you like the Metal Gear games or not, there is no denying that £17 for a game of that caliber is a damn good deal.
I rarely purchase games day one these days as I can happily wait for a price drop. I just work on my backlog until im happy with the price. I picked up MGSPP and Mad Max both for £35 new, and I only had to wait a few months for that deal. Infact, Tesco have some pretty good deals on right now. For £40 you can get two selected top PS4 games.
ID have done an amazing job in bringing back DOOM. It's modern enough to not feel outdated, but it retains the feel of the originals. The graphics are awesome on all platforms (I have it on PS4) the multiplay is definitely fun and doesn't feel bolted on. People keep calling it an arena MP shooter, which it it, but its obviously had to be modernized slightly, though it could do with some slight balancing of weapons and powerups.
The Snapmap feature is absolutely amazing! You can make levels, co-op survival missions, Parkor levels and PvP match arena in such a way that would usually only be possible on a PC.
It also has some really nice surprises for longtime DOOM fans too. This DOOM is one "HELL" of an adrenaline fuelled ride which looks and plays fantastic. Call of Duty this isn't.
I would give it a 9/10 because of everything that is included alongside the campaign.
Oh and any true fan shouldn't play it on any difficulty lower than Ultra Violence.
Im still going to wait for the GOTY edition later this year. That way I will get everything for around £45, plus most bugs should have been worked out. Also I own all the dlc, so if or when PSN closes down or the dlc gets removed, I will own it all on one or two disks. I have the GOTY editions of all Fallout and The Elder Scrolls games.
I will stick with The Witcher 3 dlc for now. Far Harbour does look good though, even if the base game could have been better. Im not saying its a bad game, just not what I was hoping for.
As much as I am sure UC4 is a great game, Im sure its no 10/10, maybe a 9/10. But then again reviews this guy does should be taken with a grain of salt. He rarely knows what he is talking about and usually refers to other sites for his reviews.
Definitely one of my favourite games last gen and as near to playing Metroid without playing on a Nintendo. I will be purchasing it again. Now wheres that sequel???
@get2sammyb "You don't just scrap six months of work in the two hours you get on stage" You do if its worth millions of dollars. Its called being prepared for anything by having a back up. If that is nonsense in your opinion then wow!
@viciousarcanum How would you feel if you went out and purchased a PS4 in May this year only for Sony to announce they're releasing a better PS4 soon. Im sure there's people that have had to save up for a longtime for a PS4 and finding out that if they had waited a little longer they could have got a better system.
To be honest I don't think the PS4K will be more powerful, as I think its just going to be for Netflix and other media. It will also probably have the PSVR processing unit built in too. There is absolutely zero chance it will output games in 4K because it would raise the cost of the PS4 way to high. Only really high end gaming PC's can run games in 4K and they certainly aren't cheap.
@DualWielding Thats a good point. If Microsoft didn't go first at E3 2013 I think things would be very different in regards to console sales. From what I heard Sony had around 3 different conferences lined up and depending on what Microsoft announced Sony would use the conference speech that would better suit them. I also heard that Sony's original plans for the PS4 weren't very different from what Microsoft had planned for the XB1. After thay saw the reaction to Microsofts XB1 announcement they decided to use a backup briefing.
Whether that was true or not you can be sure that Microsoft will be bring their A game since they know Sony has the better year this year for its PlayStation exclusives and the launch of PSVR.
Whatever happens its certainly going to be an interesting event for Sony, Microsoft and not forgetting Nintendo with their NX announcement.
@BAMozzy The only game from Ubisoft I really want is BEYOND GOOD AND EVIL 2. I loved the first game and according to Ubisoft BG&E2 has been in development for a very long time. I just hope the rumour that Nintendo getting it as an exclusive for the NX isn't true.
I heard a new rumour recently that Nintendo have made a deal with Ubisoft. The deal is for exclusivity of BEYOND GOOD AND EVIL 2 for the Nintendo NX.
I really hope that rumour isn't true because I absolutely loved the original BEYOND GOOD AND EVIL.
This game has been in and out of development for a VERY long time.
I understand why these exclusivity deals are in place, but to be honest I am getting sick of them. Sony got SFV and maybe NMS console exclusivity and Microsoft got Titanfall, Rise of the Tomb Raider (Timed I know, but still.) and Sunset Overdrive. Now if Nintendo have snatched up BG&E2 I will not be happy because I won't be getting a Nintendo NX until its a few years old. I have enough consoles as it is.
@get2sammyb Have you heard anything about that BG&E2 rumour mate?
If it had of been a big success it would have been great if they had made a revised Vita that had two extra shoulder buttons, instead of the terrible back touchpad. That way remote play and PlayStation Now would have been a much better experience on the Vita.
@sub12 I totally agree with your comment. I also believe that it didn't help that Sony are terrible at marketing. I would have loved a western RPG and a Gran Turismo too.
@Deadstanley I actually thought Uncharted GA, Killzone Mercenary's and Tearaway were amazing games that were actually console quality games that both ran a played perfectly on the Vita. Besides, Sony marketed (Albeit terribly) the Vita as a mobile gaming device that had console quality games.
It has been "The beginning of the end for the Vita" for the last couple of years. I have and always will be a massive fan of the Vita, its just a shame Sony wasn't. Aside from the overly expensive memory cards and lack of first and third party support, Sony made the big mistake of very poor advertising.
I know loads of casual gamers that have never even heard of the PlayStation Vita. I've even had people see me playing on my Vita and they thought it was a PSP. When I told them what it was they told me they had never heard of it.
I can understand that because Mobile/Cell phones dominate the mobile gaming space, it makes it very hard to sell a dedicated mobile gaming device. Having said that, as good as phones are with certain games lile Angry Birds etc they are no substitute for games like Uncharted, Killzone Mercenarys, Wipeout, Tearaway etc.
I was absolutely blown away when I played Killzone on my Vita for the first time. I couldn't believe how good the graphics and gameplay were. Even the multiplayer was amazing, for a mobile gaming device.
If Sony had advertised the Vita with Killzone Mercenary's, Uncharted & Tearaway on TV I am sure it would have sold a lot better. Also not charging as much as they did for the memory cards as that was a massive turnoff for alot of people.
It also doesn't help that most Vita games are only available through the PlayStation Store. One of my friends was going to purchase a Vita recently, but when he went into the store known as GAME he noticed that there were only around 20 physical games on the store shelf. Because of that he decided to purchase a 3DS instead. Later I showed him all the games that you can get via PSN and he was shocked.
If Sony had given the Vita one last big push and have games like Gran Turismo, Infamous, God of War and a new Uncharted, aswell as letting people know that you can join partys with your friends that are on their PS4's and also play certain games with those friends via cross play I think that just might have been enough to entice people.
In the United Kingdom we didn't even get the Netflix app which is ridiculous. These days pretty much everything has Netflix on them.
I think Sony should try adding the Vita to the PS4 as a bundle. They could charge an extra £100 for a bundle, throw in a couple of games along with a 16gb memory card because of remote play.
But Sony has a massive floor in their company, and that floor is advertising. Sony are absolutely terrible when it comes to advertising. They've just released Ratchet & Clank and I am yet to see an advert for it. They have a R&C movie coming out soon so one would think Sony would be pushing the R&C game.
Because of how they treated the Vita I am going to wait several months before I make a decision on purchasing the PSVR device. Talking of PSVR, I am surprised that they're using the PlayStation Move controllers as they're really outdated and not very good. They should do what Facebook are doing with the Oculus Rift and create a new controller. The Rift controllers are actually really good. The Move controllers don't even have any analog sticks. They could make a new DUALSHOCK 4 that can split into two as that would be a near enough perfect input device. I hope that Sony eventually realise that and they decide to create something similar.
It certainly looks and sounds interesting. Me getting it will depend on its price. Indie games are priced pretty high these days. I don't mind paying extra if the game is worth it but, with the chance of a lot of indies being added to PlayStation Plus I tend to wait.
@Gamer83 It usually is. We typically get our games released on a Friday, but for some reason we're getting R&C Friday the following week. Not sure why they're making us wait almost another two weeks.
I totally agree buddy. I should have said "a PS4 version or a PC port" because I absolutely loved Fallout 3. Im not sure why Bethesda haven't done an updated version of either Skyrim or Fallout 3 since they're very popular games, and of course would make Bethesda a tonne of money.
I would happily pay £100 for an anthology of either The Elder Scrolls of the Fallout series that had all dlc included with it. That would probably be my only game purchase of the year.
@get2sammyb I totally agree, but I don't remember having as many issues last generation with Xbox Live. I didn't start using PSN until 2011. Maybe once the servers aren't supporting multiple generations they will become a lot more stable.
PSN has been alot better in 2016 in regards to stability.
It's nice that Sony have added that feature, but in 2016 we shouldn't be having these problems. Even XB Live has issues these days. Though I haven't had many problems with PSN of late.
I have absolutely zero doubts this game will get 10/10 pretty much across the board. There have only been a few AAA games I could not put down until the credits roll in recent years, Uncharted 4 will undoubtedly be one of them.
Im also really looking forward to Rise of the Tomb Raider coming to PS4 later this year as the previous game was one of those games I could not stop playing. I had to get 100% completion before I could move on to a different game.
I will still be playing Fallout 4 for years to come. I was still playing Fallout 3 GOTY edition up until the release of F4. I really wish Bethesda would consider a few remasters of their games.
@xMEADx Or maybe its for people that have alot of friends and don't want to have to keep replying every time they get an invite or message. Maybe they're knackered after work and just want to chill.
I really don't understand why people want friend notifications. If I want to play a game with someone its not exactly hard to check to see if they're online. Besides, unless Sony has added that feature in the same way Microsoft did for the XB1, it will be an automatic feature disable for me. I really don't want notifications every time one of my friends pops online.
The feature Sony added for when a friend joins a party got old very quick.
Alot of PC gamers are always shouting the term "PC Master Race" and while its obvious the PC easily outperforms the PS4 technically and also has some top tear games. The one thing the PC doesn't have is, Naughty Dog. There is nothing exclusive on PC that comes close to Uncharted 4 imo and a £4000 gaming rig wouldn't change that opinion of mine.
Like they say, its not the size, but what you do with it that matters, and the PS4 is more than capable of giving us games that aren't just fun to play, but look absolutely stunning too.
@itshoggie I wish they wouldn't include multiplayer trophies. As much as I enjoyed the MP I am not sure how much I will play it, so I don't want that to stop me from getting that prestigious platinum.
@BAMozzy I am 100% with you there buddy. While there are plenty of top games I am looking forward to this year, nothing comes close to Uncharted 4. It's a game that I don't have to manage my expectations for because I know that Naughty Dog will deliver.
@get2sammyb The Last of Us is definitely one of the best games I have played in my 30 years of gaming. It was that good it almost doesn't warrant a sequel, and of course will be hard to top the original. Im kind of on the fence with how I feel about a sequel. I definitely want more of the IP, but the first games story is going to be very hard to top. I have never cared for two characters like I did for Joel and Ellie.
In Naughty Dog I trust. After playing The Last of Us I have total faith in how they will handle Drakes end game. I just hope I find out for myself before some troll tries to spoil it for everyone else.
Given how big of a game Uncharted 4 is I am going to have go into media blackout for the weekend of its release. I won't even log into Facebook because you can pretty much bet someone somewhere will post the spoiler.
With a game like Uncharted I won't stop playing it until those credits roll. Should have it finished within a weekend because of how addictive the series is.
I have not wanted another GOW ever since Sony made Santa Monica cancel their original PS4 project. If I were a games developer in these uncertain times, I would much rather be independent and have control over my own IP's. It can't be fun when you've been working on the same game series for for the best part of 15 years. Yes I know GOW1 came out in 2005, but with the development time it can't be far off that mark. Talk about stifling creativity Sony!
@Pink_Floyd And its still going to cost more. Only the ultra high end PC's can game at 4K. The graphics card and monitor alone are going to cost 1500-2000. Then you would need to decide to either go with AMD or the expensive, but better Intell i5 or i7. The new PS4k supposedly upscales, so you wouldn't have to replace all of you Blue Rays. You can pick up a good 4k TV for around £500 the new PS4K is £350 but you can trade in your old PS4 and maybe some old games.
Still works out at around £1000 cheaper, if not more.
@JohnnyBastos That's cool mate. Your PS4 is going to be getting some overdue attention then since you've been away for a couple of weeks. I will talk to you soon than pal.
Aside from this OBVIOUS April fools joke, I am actually looking forward to next weeks PlayStation Plus games. I don't remember its name, but the multiplayer isometric space shooter sounds promising as does the ZOMBIE game that was originally ZOMBIE U on the Wii U. It's definitely worth checking out. I also really liked last months PlayStation Plus games. My favourite being Galak-Z.
As much as we complain about the constant indie giveaways, the way I look at it, I probably would have never tried 90% of the PS+ games, unless its a game I have been looking forward too, and because of that I have had a few nice surprises. As much as we would like Sony to give us AAA's games from time to time, if there is a AAA game I like the look of, I will just buy it anyway. So I look at these indies as a nice surprise and I've definitely got my moneys worth from my yearly subscription.
@JohnnyBastos Hopefully you can get something sorted buddy. I remember playing a certain Japanese game on PS2 with the same issue you're having, its definitely annoying when your mussel memory is so used to pressing X to go forward and circle to go back. The next time I talk to my friend who had the same issue I will ask him how he managed to get the problem fixed. I know that he definitely found a way round the problem. I will try and remember to mention it to him and hopefully we can fix it for you. If you want, you can always send me a friend request and that way I can hopefully help you out.
My PSN user name is wardie3223 I am on most of the time. If you do decide to add me as a friend, add a message with the friend request so I will know who you are. For some reason I received friends request from random people which I don't except if I don't know them. If you decide not to add me its cool. Either way, I hope you get it sorted mate
@JohnnyBastos You can remap all of the DUALSHOCK 4's buttons in the settings. It was added in an old firmware update. My mate had the same issue until the update.
Having initially been against the idea of a new more powerful PS4, my main issue was it being released this year before the PS4's 3rd birthday. If the rumours are true and it won't release until next year and it has a GPU twice as powerful, 4K Blue Ray drive and upscales I don't think I'll be able to resist. Yeah the "original" is underpowered when you look at todays GPU's, but it can still pump out some truly beautiful games ie Uncharted 4, Horizon Zero Dawn etc. But developers are already maxing out the hardware, which is normal when a console is nearly 3 years old. If by upgrading to a "supercharged" PS4K I can get another 5 years from my machine out will definitely be up for the purchase.
If the rumours are true I do worry what will happen once the PS4K is a couple of years old and developers are maxing it out, what will happen to the original PS4. Are developers going to make certain games exclusively for the new hardware and by doing so not releasing certain games on the older hardware because it can't handle those games. Or will it be like Call of Duty BO3 were the old gen version had content missing and looked dated by comparison.
If the rumours are true I think Sony may have a few unhappy customers on their hands. For me though I will be purchasing the PSVR and having a more powerful GPU to power VR games makes total sense.
I hope just hope Sony give us all the details at E3. Regardless of it being true I am 100 percent happy with my PS4 and how current games look and play. The PS4 may be outdated compared to PC, but compared to the PS3 is definitely next gen enough for me.
It would also make sense for Sony to either overclock the CPU in the PS4K or add a slightly faster CPU to go with the faster GPU otherwise depending on the GPU's power its just going to bottleneck.
If I do get one it won't be on launch, which is also rumoured to release this holiday. Purchasing a PS4K and a PSVR would cost over £700. Can't see it flying on the shelfs like the PS4 did, atleast not right away. Im seriously considering going over to PC as I could build a gaming PC that will still be more powerful than a PS4K. I will just get the VR sometime later.

Re: A Fresh Fallout 4 Patch Has Snuck onto PS4
I will still be playing Fallout 4 for years to come. I was still playing Fallout 3 GOTY edition up until the release of F4. I really wish Bethesda would consider a few remasters of their games.
Re: PS4 Firmware Update 3.50 Brings Friend Notifications, PC Remote Play Tomorrow
@xMEADx Or maybe its for people that have alot of friends and don't want to have to keep replying every time they get an invite or message. Maybe they're knackered after work and just want to chill.
Re: PS4 Firmware Update 3.50 Brings Friend Notifications, PC Remote Play Tomorrow
Re: Hands On: Uncharted 4 Is Bigger and Better Than Ever Before on PS4
Alot of PC gamers are always shouting the term "PC Master Race" and while its obvious the PC easily outperforms the PS4 technically and also has some top tear games. The one thing the PC doesn't have is, Naughty Dog. There is nothing exclusive on PC that comes close to Uncharted 4 imo and a £4000 gaming rig wouldn't change that opinion of mine.
Like they say, its not the size, but what you do with it that matters, and the PS4 is more than capable of giving us games that aren't just fun to play, but look absolutely stunning too.
Re: Hands On: Uncharted 4 Is Bigger and Better Than Ever Before on PS4
@itshoggie I wish they wouldn't include multiplayer trophies. As much as I enjoyed the MP I am not sure how much I will play it, so I don't want that to stop me from getting that prestigious platinum.
Re: Hands On: Uncharted 4 Is Bigger and Better Than Ever Before on PS4
@BAMozzy I am 100% with you there buddy. While there are plenty of top games I am looking forward to this year, nothing comes close to Uncharted 4. It's a game that I don't have to manage my expectations for because I know that Naughty Dog will deliver.
Re: Naughty Dog Will Resurrect The Last of Us 2 Prototypes Soon
@get2sammyb The Last of Us is definitely one of the best games I have played in my 30 years of gaming. It was that good it almost doesn't warrant a sequel, and of course will be hard to top the original. Im kind of on the fence with how I feel about a sequel. I definitely want more of the IP, but the first games story is going to be very hard to top. I have never cared for two characters like I did for Joel and Ellie.
Re: People Will Argue Over Uncharted 4's Ending
In Naughty Dog I trust. After playing The Last of Us I have total faith in how they will handle Drakes end game. I just hope I find out for myself before some troll tries to spoil it for everyone else.
Given how big of a game Uncharted 4 is I am going to have go into media blackout for the weekend of its release. I won't even log into Facebook because you can pretty much bet someone somewhere will post the spoiler.
With a game like Uncharted I won't stop playing it until those credits roll. Should have it finished within a weekend because of how addictive the series is.
Re: Urgh! Could There Be More Greek Mythology on the Way in God of War PS4?
I have not wanted another GOW ever since Sony made Santa Monica cancel their original PS4 project. If I were a games developer in these uncertain times, I would much rather be independent and have control over my own IP's. It can't be fun when you've been working on the same game series for for the best part of 15 years. Yes I know GOW1 came out in 2005, but with the development time it can't be far off that mark. Talk about stifling creativity Sony!
Re: Geth a Load of This Leaked Mass Effect: Andromeda Gameplay
@Gamer83 I though they did a great job on Dragon Age Inquisition to be fair.
Re: Geth a Load of This Leaked Mass Effect: Andromeda Gameplay
I will just wait for E3 to see the real deal. Not really interested in watching a 2 year old tech demo. But thanks for the info Push Square
Re: So, the PS4K Has Been Under Our Nose All Along
@Bazza78 4K games looks amazing! Check out Battlefront in 4K.
Re: So, the PS4K Has Been Under Our Nose All Along
@Pink_Floyd And its still going to cost more. Only the ultra high end PC's can game at 4K. The graphics card and monitor alone are going to cost 1500-2000. Then you would need to decide to either go with AMD or the expensive, but better Intell i5 or i7.
The new PS4k supposedly upscales, so you wouldn't have to replace all of you Blue Rays. You can pick up a good 4k TV for around £500 the new PS4K is £350 but you can trade in your old PS4 and maybe some old games.
Still works out at around £1000 cheaper, if not more.
Re: Talking Point: Would You Buy an Upgraded PS4K?
@JohnnyBastos That's cool mate. Your PS4 is going to be getting some overdue attention then since you've been away for a couple of weeks. I will talk to you soon than pal.
Re: Is This the First of May's Free PlayStation Plus Games?
Re: Talking Point: Would You Buy an Upgraded PS4K?
@JohnnyBastos Hopefully you can get something sorted buddy. I remember playing a certain Japanese game on PS2 with the same issue you're having, its definitely annoying when your mussel memory is so used to pressing X to go forward and circle to go back.
The next time I talk to my friend who had the same issue I will ask him how he managed to get the problem fixed. I know that he definitely found a way round the problem. I will try and remember to mention it to him and hopefully we can fix it for you.
If you want, you can always send me a friend request and that way I can hopefully help you out.
My PSN user name is wardie3223
I am on most of the time. If you do decide to add me as a friend, add a message with the friend request so I will know who you are. For some reason I received friends request from random people which I don't except if I don't know them.
If you decide not to add me its cool.
Either way, I hope you get it sorted mate
Re: Talking Point: Would You Buy an Upgraded PS4K?
@JohnnyBastos You can remap all of the DUALSHOCK 4's buttons in the settings. It was added in an old firmware update. My mate had the same issue until the update.
Re: Talking Point: Would You Buy an Upgraded PS4K?
Re: Rumour: PS4K Will Cost $399, Will Feature 4K Blu-ray, and Will Boast Better Graphics
