Very nice. With some PS4 games still being released in 2026, it's looking like the console will be relevant even once the PS6 is out in 2027 🫣
Interesting things. But language locked for cheaper price like Nintendo did. I don't know.
Even compared to the Taiwan 3DS or others or Chinese models for other reasons not sure about this. How much they use other eshops or languages as it is.
Monitor and handle/charging support for the controller fair.
DLC/updates for games fair.
More showing off upcoming games, fair.
New games. New Fate though, interesting. Not my thing, but always interesting to see what direction/name they do next.
New BlazBlue and others.
A lot of fair stuff for that region I'd say.
New BlazBlue game looks fantastic!
@Foxhound It is odd to me as it's going longer then 12 years (maybe console support or disk production or features) but games, yeah those sometimes go until a next console.
I mean PS1 was 1994 to 2005 so before PS3, PS2 went until bit before PS4 I think (Many JRPGs, visual novels, odd kids games, sure sports games but even then they still keep going. Even PSP games were ported to it). PS3 went till 2019 so bit before PS5 with PS3/Vita games happening for a while there even Limited Run or others for Vita physical and that was a big place for them too before Switch. If we see PS4 go till bit before PS6 maybe I assume it could last that long maybe or extend a bit.
Otherwise it depends on devs, Indies or if it's viable enough. Or Sony goes nah we want to cut it off and leave PS4 games up to PS5 like Wii on Wii U or PSP on Vita sort of situations.
I get it for money reasons, but I think this time it's more for eshop framework and more they are more willing to keep it around but who knows. They may stick to the before next console standard they have been following so far. Can only guess.
While PS3 it was a case of not wanting to support that anymore and PS4 being easier to work with as a reason Sony may have and I assume the eshop being more suited to the modern framework then the old format the prior consoles had and code/security situations they wanted to move away from.
I think it could be fair for a while.
I haven't felt like consoles were held back in prior eras, or even now. Regardless of my lack of interest in PS5 and what games are going for these days they are showcasing (besides 2020 situation) as their core goals for games/game design that don't interest me at all. But I'm an anomaly anyway.
People probably did the same in prior gens but still. Whatever of live service games I guess. GTA5 went till a few months or year or so before PS3 was cut support.
Other live service games, once enough do they will move on and cut off more as they go.
Well, that looks like the least interesting SoP ever based on those announcements, glad I didn't bother to tune in.
Highlight for me was probably just the No Sleep for Kaname Date port announcement; already got the game on Switch 2 so doesn't even actually matter for me but I'm glad more people are going to get the chance to play it.
Also I've never read the comics myself but I'm happy for the Sonic fans thrilled over Tangle and Whisper being in.
Still no DQ VIII Remake.
Sad times.
@Lizuka Really?! Wow, and that wasn't even mentioned in the article. Takes the whole show up a few notches for me.
It didn't get an official trailer, but Kyouran Makaism was a big standout for me. I'm really interested in what the Disgea team can do with an action RPG
@SuntannedDuck2 "New games. New Fate though, interesting. Not my thing, but always interesting to see what direction/name they do next."
It's not in the Type-Moon Fate franchise. FSN and its sequels and spin-offs are about legendary heroes being summoned by mages to fight in a war for the Holy Grail. This game is about people shooting each other with guns. Also the Type-Moon stuff always has it written like Fate/whatever, so this'd be Fate/trigger.
How come Brokenlore (the horror game) isn't in the round up, I thought it looked really good!
@Enuo Same here. It's actually the only one I'm interested in. Well, and the DQVII remake.
@Matroska Yeah there is a lot of spinoffs, I'm aware. I've seen videos on this stuff and how things go.
Not experienced Fate but done enough reading into the spin offs or each interpretation by said other creators works.
It's more using the brand name at this point then relevant to the prior works that are mainline/original creators. That was clear.
@SuntannedDuck2 Fate Trigger has nothing to do with the Type Moon Fate series, it's just that the game has used the word "Fate" in its name to bait people into thinking it's related to the more popular IP.
The next actual Fate game is "Fate/EXTRA Record" which is a remake of a PSP game and is due next year.
That fatal frame 2 remake can get in my belly
@UltimateOtaku91 That makes sense I do remember Extra Last Encore show or some of the PSP ones names.
But yeah as a non fan but can only go off as much as can from what I hear.
I appreciate filling me in on that.
I do read what devs/pubs are linked to projects, I just haven't for Fate yet. More so other IPs. So I'll have to look into that.
What's with the weird subsidised gaming in Japan? Actual third world countries like Brazil and India don't even get subsidised consoles(as far as I'm aware) but the Japanese now do across the board.
Thanks for the sum up, glad I didn't waste 40 min last night, completely uninteresting SoP.
The Japanese and Asian focused segments are always my least favourite part of the SoP’s so I wasn’t about to sit through a whole show of it.
I do like the idea of having separate SoP’s for each market though. I hope we get more Western focused SoP’s going forward with all the JRPG/Anime style games removed. The last few SoP’s seemed to be full of that stuff and the squeaky voices and terrible dialogue is really annoying.
a load of junk for me
It was aimed at trying to get Japanese gamers and Nintendo owners to get interested in the PS5.
I’m interested in some of these titles, but would probably chose to get them on Switch 2 for the portability factor.
Weird how the majority of those games are releasing on all major platforms, but PlayStation still refuses to show all platforms in their trailers. All it takes is to check those trailers on the publisher/developer channels, so it's a minor inconvenience for the viewers and no benefit for PlayStation.
I lvoe my PlayStation, they announced nothing though. Yeah a monitor okay...
Tokyo Xtreme Racer?
From the Dreamcast era?!
I hope it has online competitive play. Otherwise, it will have little modern appeal.
@Foxhound honestly certain games still make sense to have a ps4 version , because if you really look at it , i would think its the same as having a game playable on the series S and series X. so if people still have a ps4 they can still play but the best version will always be on the more current stuff , like playing a game on pc with an older 2000 gpu vs a 5000 series gpu.
its funny people still complain even though they announced the theme and what kind of games will be talked about at that state of play. yet i still saw people think despite sony saying it was a Japanese based state of play people were still expecting a western Triple A announcement that had nothing to do with the theme.
@Aventurier honestly i can't be the only one that that would be excited for this stuff , but i think its cool that sony has some branded monitors and speakers coming out.
People had higher expectations, I see more people disappointed with that presentation.
Can’t argue with them. It was very weak
Worse than usual state of play but I've come to expect that.
I hope the tga will have some fun announcements & surprises
@arsmolinarc i mean they announced the theme and everything and people were expecting a major aaa announcement like god of war in a japanese focused state of play?
