PS5 Push Square

The graph charting Sony's userbase growth on PS5 and PS4 is only going up, as another fiscal quarter comes to a close with the number of Monthly Active Users on PSN higher than the same period of time last year.

During the Q2 quarter for fiscal year 2025 (1st April — 30th June), the PlayStation Network recorded 119 million Monthly Active Users. Compared to the same time period in fiscal year 2024, this is an increase of three million players. It is a drop-off compared to the start of this fiscal year, when Sony had 123 million monthly users in the first quarter, but the data from the past few years shows an upward trend overall.

For example, during the Q2 period for fiscal year 2022, the Monthly Active User count from Sony stood at 102 million players. For the second quarter of fiscal year 2023, it was at 107 million. Sony will now be looking towards Q3 and Q4 for the current fiscal year to see if the same sort of player increases are recorded. In Q3 of fiscal year 2024, it had 129 million Monthly Active Users, marking a huge increase over the previous quarter.

As part of its latest financial earnings, Sony also confirmed PS5 sales now sit at 84.2 million units, while its latest first-party release, Ghost of Yotei, has sold 3.3 million copies since release.
