Ubisoft streamed over an hour of Immortals Fenyx Rising following its re-reveal earlier in the week, and it goes without saying that this is our best look at the open world game yet. The video's got general exploration, combat, and quite a bit of puzzle solving.
While we do think that the screen's a bit cluttered at times — particularly during some fights — there's definitely promise here. And if you've played Assassin's Creed Odyssey, you'll notice that there are a lot of similarities. It even looks like Fenyx — the customisable protagonist — shares some animations with Odyssey's sibling heroes. Not a huge surprise considering Immortals is being developed by the same team.
But the best way to describe Immortals is Odyssey meets The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The inclusion of physics-based puzzles screams Nintendo's open world blockbuster, and the colourful art style certainly gives off a similar vibe here and there.
What do you think of Immortals? Might it be one of your first PS5 games, or do you need to see more? Soar into the comments section below.

Well it looks more detailed than BOTW and the areas are fuller and not baron
Funny, that's exactly how I described the game during the chat here when PushSquare streamed the latest Ubisoft show...
At least combat looks better than BotW and your weapons wont break. Also looks more densely populated too..
This is a nice surprise never heard of this game looks a fun title...looking forward to playing Immortals Fenyx Rising on PS4.
guys sony confirmed a ps5 showcase this wednesday. https://twitter.com/PlayStationEU
PlayStation event Wednesday at 1pm PST! Let’s go!
@Waffles12415 Great News
This looks fantastic!I think out of all the upcoming games this one is the one in looking forward to the most by far.
Everybody says it looks like zelda botw, I'm the only one that think it looks like kid icarus open world games 😅
The PS5 release is set for December 3rd 2020 on Shopto.net.
Hmmmm
@Waffles12415
And another event on Friday the 18th
Looks mystical and enchanting to me. Genuinely surprised. Most likely day 1 for me.
i might play it later on, but this won't be something i get for ps5 early. i already have other games want a lot more than this. while this looks nice, i wish they'd stayed with the original art concept - i loved that look.
I think i'll give it a go
Looks like the type of game that should have released in February like originally announced. The Sony and MS fans aren't going to want this that much with their new consoles launching and the Switch owners will be playing HW: AOC which releases 2 weeks earlier.
I just think it's a tough date for a new IP that looks like a blend of 2 old IP.
And it's Ubisoft, so it will probably be on sale for $30 by February. Don't see a need to get it day 1 but I will play it sometime next year maybe.
It couldn't look more generic and uninspired if it wanted to...
It looks like AC for kids. Which is no bad thing in itself but to me it looks so bland it’s unbelievable. Disappointed with this.
Looks boring lol. Also quite obvious the combat is pretty oldschool god of war inspired
Finally a Ubisoft title that caught my interest again, after abandoning AC and Far Cry completely. Huge BotW fan here, so any resemblence is fine with me! Beyond Good & Evil 2 also looks cool, but that may release as a launch title for PS6 with this speed..
Yea this is looking like one of the better titles Ubisoft has released in years.
I had high hopes for this, but the generic art direction and character design, coupled with an annoying UX (I freaking hate numbers flying all around during combat) and generic combat with abilities on cooldown kinda soured it for me.
I'll wait for review hoping I'm wrong, though.
Hopefully this game actually tells things that might be useful. BotW focused too much on "letting the player discover everything"
Most blatent Ubisoft knock-off yet.
It won't stop me enjoying it but can't imagine Nintendo being pleased about this.
The world and monsters I think look really nice, the human characters not so much. The look/gear looks fun (unlike avengers lol)
I love the idea of getting a Zelda-type game on a non-Nintendo console so it's at a higher resolution, just imagining how Breath of the Wild could have looked on PS4...
Main thing that I found a bit meh was it's just a Greek mythology game, I'd hoped for something original.
I think it looks quite good. Graphically and artistically beautiful; gameplay looks pretty fun; setting is interesting. I must say that Greek mythology does seem very ‘last year’ as everyone seems to have moved on to Norse mythology as the ‘flavor of the now.’
I don’t like when games overuse of the upward air vent mechanic to float/fly upward though, and it seems like that is core to traversal. I also am not a fan of the ‘time-limited course flying through gated checkpoints’ races that so many of these games do. I can tolerate a few of them, but I find them annoying.
@playstation_king
That was honestly the best part of BOTW for me. I liked the fact the world was fairly empty compared to its contemporaries. It was fun just exploring the world without being nagged for side quests every three seconds.
Modern open world games are often way too cluttered for their own good.
I sure hope it's not too much like BOTW because that game bore me to death. Empty open-world with breakable items, what were they thinking?
@Turbodream they were thinking that if its open world and has the name zelda people would eat it up which proved to be very true. Im pretty sure if the next zelda game was a complete skyrim clone people would be in love with it like they are with avowed which showed very little on its reveal. This mixes some stuff from botw in but doesn't have the name and everyone acts like botw invented open worlds, flying, and that art style. Gamers are just silly sometimes.
@AdamNovice I didn’t see that as a bad thing, in fact it was one of the games strengths for me. Not every game needs to hold your hand and fill the map with icons and question marks to guide you.
@AdamNovice Translation: I want more handholding. There's already too much of that in most modern games.
I see God Of War influences as well
@Slayn_Fallsmyer Yes gamers are silly sometimes but Nintendo fanboys in particular are the worst on that front. The typical fan of the house of Mario thinks that Nintendo invented everything when actually they are the Apple of the video games industry. They refine or just better brands something that was already existing to the point uninformed people thinks they owns/creates it. The rise of YT just maked it worse, especially in North America. I like Nintendo, but this entitlement about the supposed originality of BOTW needs to stop. If we are being honest here, BOTW sprinkled a bit of Zelda lore to a lot of old video games concepts. Not exactly a paragon of originality and it's totally fine because a lot of good games are derivative.
@EVIL-C There's a difference between poor direction and handholding. BOTW pads its world with a lot of nothing. It's fine if you like to explore for the sake of exploring and crafting recipes but the gameplay loop is IMHO pretty weak.
@EVIL-C @Fenbops There is such thing as games giving you a bit of hand holding so it doesn't waste the player's time. Zelda doesn't bother telling you how to survive hot environments like where the correct armour is or what recipes you need. That's not making discover fun, it's just wasting my time when I just want to make it to the next objective. It wouldn't kill the game to give the player a bit more direction.
Ghost of Tsushima does that really well cos it allows you to freely explore, rewards you for doing so but guides the player to the important stuff when your ready to.
@EVIL-C There is a difference between handholding and helping the player atleast for me.
I dont like too have too look for ages for some really obscure solution. Cant say anything about zelda because i didnt play it yet though.
@Fenbops Play Mad Max i just quit looking for the collectbles because nothing is shown on your map. I really like too see something after i found the items. I left the game and i tried too start it up again but because of that i just quit and started playing other games.
I'll be skipping this video because plot spoilers, but from what I skimmed thru plus the earlier trailers, definitely still very excited!
@playstation_king Yeah, not Baron. Seems more Duke, Earl, or Viscount to me. Maybe even Marquess.
@BAMozzy To be fair, probably 95% of us thought the same thing.
I thought Breath of the wild was extremely disappointing, pointless exploration, annoying climbing, lack of enemies, bare bones story, and this seems like what I wanted BoTW to be
I like it so far. I look forward to buy it but not at launch. Nice!
After Breakpoint I told myself I am done with Ubisoft but this game is really testing me as it looks awesome.
