Can't wait! Took part in 3 last betas. I'm in love with Diablo 4 and with the dev's approach, when they do communicate with the audience, analyse the feedback and improve different aspects of the game based on it. Still have some worries about the late-game but with no doubt will be playin this for a while.
Generic Battle Royal in Masquerade universe. Spent a couple of funny evenings in this one, but can hardly imagine someone playing it over and over again.
@UltimateOtaku91 that's an awful practice straight from F2P mobile games: none of the currency bundles fit just right for buying one thing, you are always left with some spare change. These "extra" leftovers make it easier to buy something next. No need to say that after buying next item/bundle/season pass/etc. you are left with a next portion of spare change... Eternal circle of filthy thoughts of buying something more. Shame this practice came to big AAA games.
I actually had some good time with this one, except for the open world section (didn't like the idea of robots constant respawn). Just the right thing to take a break from some long AAA games. Hope the second game will show all the improvements based on players reviews (if there will be one, of course).
I've seen this a couple of times, but thought it was a below-average game for a few hours. Glad to be wrong here. Will probably give it a try later. Thanks for the review!
@SgtTruth your way o playing is absolutely acceptable - the main reason to play a game is having fun and fresh experience. If you don't like the idea of grinding and optimizing builds there is no problem with that. But in Diablo-like games core auditory is strong and loyal and it prefers playing the game over and over and over.
That's very estimate numbers. If you are familiar with ARPGs or Diablo series it will probably take much less time. And if this is not the first character of yours on the account, you'll get some bonuses (like Lilith's shrines and some items in stash) which will speed everything up. But I like the idea that hitting maximal level is not an unreachable goal.
@Shepherd_Tallon sure. You'll get it if you reach level 20 during this beta, too. And if you kill Ashava being 20, you'll get a cosmetics for the mount.
@Ralizah not impressed that much. Rift Apart and Forbidden West look better in my opinion. But still need to check FF16 myself to justify the statement.
So, 139 GB on XsS and 147 on PS5? Even though Kraken on PS can literally make miracles with file size? Have not Respawn even touched this or it is some kind of a console parity?
Sony has not been actively communicating with its audience in this generation for some years already and all those issues with Activision/Microsoft only made the situation worse... Shame.
Hope you'll guys still bring us a decent review when it is ready!
@themightyant I've always felt that Daedalic Entertainment lacks some big budgets. The can make decent games, but none of them can be called blanket AAA and it is clearly seen from the trailers.
Looks great and seems fun, at least for some time (might get bored after killing a few thousands of zombies though). But I have too many games to play to find some time for this. Maybe one day...
@TripleKing333 base score and reviews still affect the game's sales. And even a small difference in half of a point can have an impact. It is always better to provide the best possible version at the release. But I agree that Suicide Squad looks fundamentally broken.
@get2sammyb well, Sony could not fix game's icon vanishing after deleting the game itself from the console. For a year.
Have always been a little bit shocked by console developers attitude towards different firmware nowadays. Microsoft tends to rework the dashboard and different features several times per year, making me lost in all those things every damn time. And Sony releases meaningful updates once in eternity. No golden mean
@Meehanuk_1987 probably the whole idea of end-game content in such games. It is a never-ending pursuit of build' and items' optimization. Trying to get better items in order to get better stats to complete harder dungeons / rifts to improve / upgrade gear / stones / etc to make your current character even more powerful.
Moreover seasons usually add come more content to spicy the things up and changes the meta / balance so you usually try other builds and classes.
@Logonogo I've started it a couple of days ago and it is a good game. Not 10 out of 10 but something like 7/10. Decent combat, awesome overall setting and atmosphere, good visuals, interesting music. Story is not the best in the class and some characters seem a little bit boring. Plus main character can be annoying. Thats probably all.
I am a little bit sad of how Sony treats its fanbase in terms of communications. They stay quiet, shadow-drop different things, do not communicate with the players. It is understandable that overhype negatively affects both players' expectations and sales / reviews, that is why companies today mostly prefer not to announce any games until they are at final development stages or at least have something to show. But keeping loyal players in the dark is even worse, at least I think so.
@johnny30 that happens when you outgrow your existing equipment and still have no good build / synergies. I understand, what you are talking about, because I had problems with killing specific bosses playing my druid at first levels. Switching from werewolf to werebear solved the problem and after getting a couple of legendaries everything went smooth forward. There is an auto-leveling in Diablo 4, which means bosses and other mobs will always be the same level as you. And if you change your equipment once in e.g. 5 levels, it will become much harder to kill the big guys. Just pay attention to you builds, skills, weapons and armors.
After reading about "Character Progression Concerns" I feel like visiting a reddit's sub.
It is useless to judge the balance until the full release and endgame - that is the place where all the core players will spend 90% of their time. All classes are viable and can progress through the main story from the very beginning and till the very end.
@Athrum to be honest I never saw a single lag in town during the closed beta the week before. But today is really harsh: disconnected twice already after playing for ~20 and ~3 minutes. Though Blizzard told us that this time queues gonna be big.
@Grimwood Blizzard have even stated in some diaries that the whole game was created keeping in mind console controls. Diablo 3 was awesome in this plan and all the builds were perfectly viable. Even complicated POE has practically no problem with using a controller instead of keyboard + mouse with exception of some builds on higher tier maps where placing some object (e.g. a totem) is crucial.
It does not seems polished enough yet and animations feel kinda chunky. But, guess, it's in the middle of development at the moment, so let's hope for the best.
@MightyDemon82 even if you are not a fan, HL is worth giving a try. It gave me some Fable vibes, great attention to the details and the exploration process is awesome, too.
Happy for devs. Insane fanbase did pump the sales up, but even without mentioning the setting Hogwarts Legacy is a solid game with lovely story, good combat and decent open world (though I got tired of Merlin trials and some other things at the end). Hope, we will see more awesome single-player games after this story of success.
Great game, especially for those interested in League of Legends lore. If you know nothing about this world, still a lovely RPG with awesome characters, interesting combat system and nice artwork.
Minecraft: Dungeons is quite fun - had some pleasant evening with this one. It does lack some depth and variety, but is a good entry point for ARPGs and Diablo-like games.
@themightyant sure, I totally agree with your statement. Nowadays preordering games is rather dangerous - you never know what you'll get even after watching a couple of videos / streams. Except for some best studios or titles, perhaps. But opening preorders for a project with no actual gameplay shown seems odd and even suspicious. I actually had fun with both Surge titles, but Atlas Fallen seems something different from previous works, so...
Let's be honest, Forspoken was a decent game for a first studio's project. But because of overwhelming marketing and promises expectations were too hight for this one. Once again I think that Square Enix does something strange and weird.
Well, Baldur's Gate 3 made this State of Play OK for me. Glad it comes to PS5 at the same time it releases on PC. Larian did great job with the last two Divinity titles. And this one gonna be goddam good.
