@Bizzy strange thing to say. Even though I rarely turn my on now, I've got an insane amount of positive impressions with it.
It is a solid device with decent amount of titles. If you've never experienced VR before and have PS as a prime gaming device, PSVR2 is still a solid option imo. Just keep in mind that it is not a substitute for flat-screen games.
@Oram77 even though I agree with the statement, still have to say that fast travel in GoT even on base PS4 was outstanding. Something that really deserves being called FAST travel.
Had fun with GamePass previous years — played some games via it on both console and PC. But $360 per year? Nah, I'd better buy all the things I want either on release or during those sales a couple of months after.
Photomode in Ghost of Tsushima was one of the best across all titles — fast, comfy, many different options. Looking forward to the one in Yotei.
Even though making in-game shots seems not that popular, I still appreciate Sony's effort on releasing titles with photomode available from the start. Almost too tired to replay games after this feature appears later on, like this happened with GoW Ragnarok.
@Zazu even if their new game will be in the same state NMS launched back into 2016, I won't feel robbed, ha ha.
Though I believe the team learned so much about being honest with community and how reputation works nowadays, that they will release an awesome new game once it is ready.
@RamboMike I've played the very first OW for far too long, starting even before the official release — during multiple alpha and beta-tests, so I am not a random passerby, shouting at all the stuff. Back into the days I liked the game — it was fast and fresh with decent monetization and lovely unique setting. But in my opinion Blizzard lost their way some time after, struggling at new modes, features and ideas. Coming F2P with OW2 was predictable and logical, but once again — lack of proper development vision lead to massive amount of players leaving, I was one of them (even despite the fact that 5 vs 5 felt decent).
Speaking about collaborations — every time talented devs with awesome universes try to attract people introducing cross-promotions (like bringing stuff from other games / movies / etc.), I feel sad. In my opinion such things break immersion — just look at those trash skins in recent COD. There are more rewarding and product-oriented ways to entertain and attract players, like PoE / WoW / DL / many other teams do. Moreover, I don't know how generous with collaboration content is current Blizz in OW, but in Diablo 4 their greed is beyond boundaries — just look up the latest Berserk collab. But all tastes differ, of course — so there is nothing wrong with you liking this kind of stuff, mate.
Previous generation I've switched from base PS4 to PS4 Pro the moment it appeared and had a blast.
This time I've planned to do the same trick, but work issues forced me to build a decent PC rig with Ryzen 7 9800X3D and RTX 5080, so this time I'll probably skip the PS5 PRO and get PS6 on start.
Moreover, recent years I feel kinda unimpressed about all the graphic thingies out there. Getting higher FPS / resolution / better textures, etc. is cool, but gameplay is much more important. Maybe getting old and bragging too much, huh
I feel kinda sad for all those studios in the gaming world, established in pursuit of easy live-service money and almost doomed not to be profitable. There might be talented and inspired developers, who will get tons of negative all over the world and get fired once another poorly-managed / poorly-planned project flops.
@Jacko11 why would Sony do that, though? When other console competitors both raise prices, there is no need to hold back. Money in corporations' eyes are much better than all possible PR moves or loyal community.
Wow, thought this one will stay on PC forever. Glad to see more those indie games coming to PS.
Speaking about Soulstone Survivors this one is good with decent progression, different classes, build variety and other cool features. But just like VS and other similar rogue-lites it gets repetitive and grindy at some point. I've warned ya'!
@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare you usually don not pay much attention to graphics on such a small screen. 30 FPS is more noticeable, of course, but you'll become accustomed to it after a while. FSR and tweaking some graphical options help a lot to get a smooth overall experience with most playable game (verified runs great out of the box).
For me the main problem is lack of immersion — playing TLoU on a big screen sitting in your own house feels much better than rushing it somewhere on a go. That is why I prefer using steam deck even during longest journeys for different indie games — especially on those centered around gameplay, not story.
TBH looks like another open-world mobile game coming to all possible devices. Even though their overall quality improved in the last years, I am not that interested yet.
You enter the cinema, sit down in your seat, get comfortable. The lights dim, darkness everywhere. A sudden flash of light. On the black screen the words appear — "You died". Credits, tears, applause.
@Mikey856 platinum seemed quite easy for me, cause I've explored all the locations, done all the side quests and had a pretty solid build, which carried me through most of the content with ease. But I believe, even without all the things above you'll get most of the trophies after finishing the campaign with little work afterwards needed for plat.
Outriders was surprisingly good. Decent story, cool protagonist, nice shooting with a focus on killing enemies fast, solid progression. End-game, though, is kinda boring and repetitive, but DLC fixes the problem.
@Elodin Atomic heart has an interesting setting, nice graphics and solid combat, but IMO story lacks some depth, while some game design decisions (like constantly respawning enemies) hold the project back. Still a solid 7-8, though.
Outcast 2 A new beginning — clanky-janky, though has fun traversal, looks bright and chill. Found a couple of nasty bugs, but still got some fun. Something like 6-7.
Astrobot is brilliant in terms of fun. Not a fan of platformers in general, but this one is great — tons of different mechanics, stylistics, cameos, fun moments, overall plot, sense of progression. Awesome game, 10 out of 10.
House Flipper 2 is the only one I haven't played. But if you want to try something like that — buy PowerWash Simulator. Never thought that cleaning can be so interesting, challenging and relaxing at the same time.
@Logonogo well, I thought this way, but bought PSVR2 a couple of months ago. Great piece of tech, awesome games and amazing experience — something I could not get from games on flat screen for several past years, when you understand the core mechanics of the games in a couple of hours and nothing else holds you there anymore, nor story, nor characters, nor progression. But PSVR2 games somehow stick you to this device and hold your attention until the very end... or until your arms and spine ake from swinging a sword or reloading a rifle. Great feeling. So I'd recommend you to try this VR set somewhere just taste the feeling of next-gen immersion.
@Bamila they are totally different, to be honest, both in terms of battle systems and overall gameplay loop. I personally had more fun with Dead Island 2, but completed Dying Light 2 on the launch — it had some problems back then, the situation should be better now.
All these articles about the awesome graphics in games launched on the PS5 PRO could become better with actual comparison between the both PS5 and PS5 Pro — make some screenshots on both devices, shoot the same fragments and film some videos to compare all the details and frame rates.
Otherwise I read all these stuff like "beautiful games look more than just beautiful" or "run better than ever".
@GamingFan4Lyf with many titles failing to deliver even 4K@60FPS on current consoles I doubt AAA devs will invest into further optimization for hitting 120FPS with PS5 PRO. Guess 120 will still remain uncommon even next gen with only some competitive titles and indie games supporting it.
It is a decent game with devs actually listening to players' feedback and implementing numerous changes in order to get the game into right shape. Even though they've started with mixed reviews in Steam (which turned many people away from buying Wayfinder back then) now everything is much-much better. And 1.0 version should be at least pretty good (if not awesome).
Companies make their "innovative" multiplayer games free way too late — just when everyone's already forgotten about them or completely do not care. At the same time one of the most important things for those titles is player base: nobody wants to play with bots or search for a match for 10 minutes.
@Zeke68 nice to heat this, thanks for the answer! I've just ordered PSVR2 and was trying to figure out what games to try in the first place. I've spent decent amount of time in non-VR version of NMS and it looked / played great.
@Medic_alert Return to Moria is getting better with every update. I was kinda sceptical about the whole idea of survival in Moria, but it turned out fun, easy to go and yet challenging in the right ways. Also playing with friends (full cross-play between all systems) adds even more awesome moments and joy.
@SeanOhOgain even though the numbers will rise, many sequels have worse metrics and that's OK. People buy the initial game of the series and may have less fun than they have expected or even completely dislike it. In this case there is no reason for them to buy the second one.
Also it has already been 4 years since PS5 launched back in 2020. Many players have bought PS5 and completed the game there. Even if they have beefy rigs, not so many players tend to replay the game a year or two after.
@themightyant just exactly my thoughts. PRO presentation was very poor on actual differences between actual gameplay on PS5 and PS5 pro. I've already played the hell out of all the titles shown there and would hardly replay them this gen. At the same time it remains unclear how upcoming games will run on PS5 and whether we will still encounter CPU bottleneck with a PRO version.
At this moment I'd better invest those £700 into upgrading my PC or even building a whole new rig for both work and gaming, which will carry me through the next 5 years of gaming with ultra/high presets.
Still might grab a PRO, if they show more differences or correct the pricing, but at the moment I am not convinced at all.

Re: Mini Review: Halls of Torment (PS5) - Proof That Vampire Survivors Wasn't a Fluke
IMO not the best rogue-lite out there, but still pretty competent and decent — had fun with it. Also a little bit too slow on progression.
Try Death Must Die on PC — it is quite the same thing, but with better pace.

Re: Devil Jam Puts a Heavy Metal Riff on Vampire Survivors for PS5
@Frmknst best thing about modern gaming is that you can play whatever you like. And entirely skip something you don't like.
But calling something "the worst thing happened ever" just because you do not like it seems a bit of overstatement.

Re: Here Comes a New Challenger! Street Fighter's World Warriors Invade Overwatch 2 on PS5, PS4
Yet another bizarre cross-over in Overwatch, not even surprised.
Widowmaker as Cammy looks nice from behind, though. Might grab this one... if only I have not dropped Overwatch 2 a month after it started.
Re: Tony Hawk Comments on Potential Tony Hawk's Underground Remake
Underground 2 was awesome, so crazy and so good. Day 1 buy for me if remaster happens.
