Why would they pay to have "celebrities" endorsements? I don't buy a game console because a famous person plays it, I look at the games and the overall product.

Are we missing the possible fact that this may be the first 'special edition' PS5 console cover since the system launched?

I don't get this. PS has had many opportunities to put their 1st party games on the PS5 faceplates but end up doing a basketball player first

There are so many awesome handmade PS5 styles on the Internet, but we keep getting some strange things.

I have a few friends who despise Lebron James because he speaks out against injustices instead of JUST doing his job, as they like to (hypocritically) say. Perhaps I'll see if they are interested!

Personally, I respect the man, but have zero interest in this.

So we haven't gotten faceplates and controllers based on Spider-Man MM, Ratchet, Demon's Souls, HFW, or Astro, but we get some based on a basketball player? Right... Good to know where modern PlayStation's priorities are.

Awesome controller. Doubt I will use it but will definitely try to snag one!

You would think they’d do an MLB deal for designs since they make those games. They could’ve made a cool with Shohei last year that both the US & Japan markets would’ve bought like hotcakes. But no, it’s LeBron with one of the whackiest and tackiest designs ever. I’d rather not support him. Now, if it was MJ or Kobe, I’d be interested. This thought: Very, very, very easy pass.

If you see the GOW they could have made a matching cover for the a Rachet and Clank, Ghost of Tsushima, Demon Souls, Returnal could have been a real cool one and those would have been a lot cheaper and better looking.

Surprised at there not being a separate article about their "PlayStation Playmakers" initiative and it's only being casually mentioned in here... then again, looking at some comments maybe this is for the best. For some reason celebrities aren't welcome in the gamer space.

As for the design, the PS Faceplates feels very tacked on with the placement of the logo.
