Re: Jim Ryan Retires as PlayStation Boss in March 2024

Syndrome

As someone who was never a fan of Playstation i see most of the comments written here as childish and out of touch with reality. Here in Europe Playstation is THE gaming brand and it's in no small part because of him. Like him or not and regardless of the reasons of his retirement he is a succesful bussinessman with a 30 year long carreer on his back. Personal feelings don't matter in cases like this it's all about the results.

P.S. Also, for those of you who believe that Sony will suddenly drop the GAAS plans because of him stepping down: you're in for a rude awakening.

Re: Sony: Nurturing Creative Talent Is Not as Simple as Throwing Money At It

Syndrome

I have to agree with him. He speaks the truth....to a certain point.
The thing is though that most of the studios that MS bought are also "nurtured" with years of experience and good(even excellent) game releases in their portfolio.
Bethesda wasn't built yesterday. In fact some of their studios are even older than the Playstation brand itself. And in the case of smaller studios(Obsidian, Ninja Theory etc) giving them more resources and let them do their thing(which i hope is what MS is doing) will allow them to grow and be even more creative than before.
What i'm trying to say is that there's always a second side to each coin.

Re: Reaction: E3 Is a Relic Desperately Clinging to Relevancy

Syndrome

I have to both agree and disagree. While E3 hasn't evolved much in some time now it's still considered one of the biggest(if not the biggest) gaming events of the year and ppl are clinging to it in droves to watch what the companies will announce next. Also, the situation with covid did affect E3 in a big way and a digital-only event is not a representative sample of what the convention could and should be.

Not gonna lie, the fact that some of the big hitters(Sony, Capcom) don't take it seriously anymore takes a way a big chunk of the event's prestige but that's a far cry from calling it "irrelevant" or a "relic".

Re: DOOM Eternal: The Ancient Gods - Part Two DLC Slays PS4 Tomorrow

Syndrome

@2cents You'll also be giving money to MS for Deathloop and Ghostwire Tokyo that are timed PS5 exclusives(!). Like you said: stranger things.
In any case, you're always giving money to someone when you buy a game so don't give too much thought on it and just enjoy playing whatever you feel like

Re: PS4 Exclusive Horizon: Zero Dawn Confirmed for PC in Summer 2020

Syndrome

@Col_McCafferty Again, Disney owns Spidey 100%. The only thing Sony "owns" is the right to make a movie with him every time Disney/Marvel want to. I don't know how to explain it more simply. Yes ,Spider-man was only on PS4 but he was also on MAU3 which came out on Switch and will most likely be on the Avengers game that's coming out this year.
And i'm sorry but when a reply starts with the word "disgusting" i don't considering it to be "just an opinion". Especially for these kind of matters. Hence why i called it a "delirium" and i'm sorry if i offened you but that's the way i see it.

Re: PS4 Exclusive Horizon: Zero Dawn Confirmed for PC in Summer 2020

Man, i love these kinds of announcements as they bring forth the worst of each community every time something like this happens. Someone simply has to take a look at this comment section to see what i mean. There were people on the Nintendo front that got triggered for the Daemon X Machina Steam release, for crying out loud. A game that hasn't even sold that good on Switch.

@Col_McCafferty Spider-Man is not a "Sony face". It's a Marvel(and now Disney) property lent to Sony for film and video game distribution. It seems your delirium has made you unable to distinguish facts from fiction.

Re: Guide: Best PS4 Exclusive Games

Syndrome

@Akurusu I agree. There are games on this list that offer unique gameplay experiences, like Spider-man, SOTC and The Last Guardian but all these get stomped because....."boy". GoW is a damn good game but nothing innovative and nowhere near a landmark in the action-adventure genre.

Re: Final Fantasy VII Remake's DLC Summons Detailed in New Gameplay

Syndrome

@ShogunRok I also understand your point but i believe it's the wrong comparison. The Mass Effect games were part of a bigger narrative but were developed as full fledged games from the beggining. This is more similar to the Hobbit book split into 3 movies for no apparent reason other than profit. I'm sorry but milking is still milking.

Re: Poll: Will PlayStation Exclusives on PC Affect Your PS5 Purchasing Intent?

Syndrome

If all the PS4 exclusives were to launch on pc(even with a small delay) then i wouldn't need a PS console at all. I'm in that category of gamers. However that is far from what i believe will happen. My guess is that some(most, all, none? who knows) of the exclusives will launch on pc like a year after the initial release which i consider to be a good bussiness plan for Sony in the long term. Even so i would still didn't need a PS as none of the Sony ips interestes me that much as to buy and play day one. But a year later on Steam? I'd be okay with that.

Re: Guide: Long PS4 Games

Syndrome

@ShogunRok I mean, the same can be said for every mmo. I haven't played ESO but i figure it requires teaming with others to do the hardest content of the game(i.e. dungeons, raids) and that's where the endless loop exists.
Doing repeatable quests solo(in case that's what you mean) doesn't count since the same can be said for Skyrim and FO4, for example.
Just my 2 cents

Re: Soapbox: The Outer Worlds Highlights Just How Far Fallout Has Fallen

Syndrome

@PhantomXIII Here's another controversial opinion. I see ppl constantly criticizing FO4 and Skyrim for having limited rpg mechanics. Yet at the same time praising games like HZD and Witcher 3 for being great 'rpgs'. Being a great game and being a great rpg are two different things. Whatever the case the Bethesda games are a lot more of an rpg than both Witcher 3 and HZD(especially the latter). I'm not defending Bethesda(the F76 situation is a total sh*tshow no matter how you twist it), i'm just saying that you don't have to bend reality at your will just to make a point.

Re: Keanu Reeves and Final Fantasy VII Remake Dominate Social Media at E3 2019

Syndrome

Nintendo did show alot of good stuff. Some new announcements , lots of games back to back and all them with actual gameplay. I understand that these might not be of someone's particular interest but you can't deny the fact that they had a robust E3 presentation.
I see ppl saying that SE "saved" E3 and i cringe. All that based on the hype that is FFVII. A game that, now matter how good it turns out to be(and it looks good tbh), SE has announced that will charge full(!) price just for it's first part.
And Avengers ofc. A game that they revealed alongside it's release date but didn't show any actual gameplay and we still don't know what the hell this game is all about exactly. Dunno, and i hope i'm wrong, but i'm getting a lot of Anthem vibes from this one.

Re: Was Halo: The Master Chief Collection Considered for PS4?

Syndrome

So all that was based on something some IGN ex-editor said? Seriously guys, there's rumors and then there's......nothing. It's like some ppl i've seen over Nintendo sites asking for MCC on Switch because MS ported Cuphead.
Halo is MS's killer up since the Xbox's conception. Handing it over to the competition doesn't seem like a smart move from a bussiness standpoint.
Now if Xbox Game Pass was to come to Sony's consoles that would be a different story. But we all know that this ain't happening anytime soon.

Re: Reaction: Sony's Decision to Skip E3 2019 Is Starting to Look Really Smart

Syndrome

@Porco That's true, but in a direct type of streaming video you don't have the crowd cheering like 5 year olds who go to Disneyland for the first time everytime the developer on stage breathes. Don't forget:hype building is still a major promotional tool and one of the the best places to have that is in a theater full of people on a live show;)

Re: Reaction: Sony's Decision to Skip E3 2019 Is Starting to Look Really Smart

Syndrome

Yes, it was clever for Sony not to be there because they clearly didn't have anything else to show this year. Showing gameplay footage/trailers from the same upcoming games(Death Stranding, TLOU2, Ghost of Tsushima) for the upteenth time wasn't going to cut it.
That doesn't mean we have to diminish everyone else's presense just to boost our fanboy ego. Microsoft, Bethesda etc., while i agree not having the best presentations for some time now, DID have something to show hence why they showed up. And there's still Ubisoft, SE and Nintendo. Don't count those out yet.
The only thing Sony has right now are the 3 exclusives i mentioned above(and Dreams) until the next E3 where they'll focus on PS5. That doesn't mean that everybody else is on the same page.
I know this is a PS focused site but, i'm sorry to say, these kinds of articles really make me cringe.....

Re: Soapbox: Crackdown 3 Is Proof That Microsoft Is Still Playing Catch-Up to Sony

Syndrome

MS is not trying to catch up in the current gen. They've already accepted defeat and right now are just buying their time preparing for the next one.
And one thing that i didn't like about this article was the attempt to downplay Phil Spencer's role in all of this. He became the Xbox boss after the initial release of XB1 and recently became the Exec VP of MS gaming. And imo he's done a great job as of now considering that his role is mostly doing damage control and preparing the brand for the next gen.
MS will be entering the race having 7(!) new dev studios under their management and some exceptional consumer-friendly features like Game Pass, BC, Play Anywhere and crossplay.
And PS journalists and fans, instead of patting themselves in the back celebrating how cool their console was last gen should be wondering what Sony is going to bring to the table as the major competitor. Because if they consider entering that race 'like a boss" with the mentality of "PS4 sold 100 mil" and 'because GoW and Spider-Man on PS4", i don't think that's gonna cut it for them and they'll probably have a similar situation that MS had with the XB1 at the beggining of this gen.
Just my 2 cents.
