Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give ARC Raiders?

StitchJones

This game has my brain in mush! First I wasn't getting it, then i bit the $40 bullet. Then I initially hated it on launch for a few days, but now I'm hooked on it. I suffer from OCD bad. I think the game has alot of faults and it can be disheartening to have a great run go sour in the hands of a D-bag or two. But in other ways its best in class.

But the collecting and searching is itching the OCD side of my brain and I need to play this to scratch it. Its like a comfort food kinda of game to an OCD itch. The graphics, sound design and atmosphere of the world is fantastic

8.5/10 overall
10/10 atmosphere, technical prowess, enemies, gameplay, sound design, looting and most mechanics
7/10 lore and voice acting with quests
7/10 quest design (too much go and fetch, then come back)

Re: One of PlayStation's Best Developers Marks 40 Years of Incredible Games

StitchJones

@Oram77 I can't understand the discourse with the remasters argument. People make like a gun is held to their heads and they are forced to buy them. And I can't stand all the hate ND gets. That's prob what fueled his comment in the 1st place, cause both items are a fools errand to even give an ounce of mindshare. Our grandkids, grandkids prob gonna still be sour about Joel's death hahaha

Re: Marvel 'Proud' to Collaborate with Spider-Man, Wolverine Maker for 'Many Years to Come'

StitchJones

@nomither6 sunset overdrive was very out in left field and an xbox exclusive at first. It was quirky like South of midnight, which also flopped. Xbox has a habit of not taking exclusives serious, other then Halo and gears. And perusing either "bro dude man" vibe exclusives, or odd quirky BS. And also, their chops are even more honed these days. Sunset is old. So it would be nice to see them try something original

Re: PC Players or Bots? Battlefield 6 PS5 Players Frustrated by Crossplay Situation

StitchJones

I don't understand this game. In the beginning, there was no need for bots, ever, with crossplay turned off. No during the day time you are guaranteed bots, not so much at night and on weekends. I'm sure that Arc-glazers is affecting player counts as well. But by no surprise playing with crossplay, the top of the scoreboard is always the PC players. I don't care, I hold my own and still do good, but the bigger problem is the matches are not balanced

Re: Remakes Eclipse Remasters for PS5 Gamers, Generate Double the Money

StitchJones

Something that people who are against all the remakes fail to understand is, the OG Demon's Souls for example came out in 2009. So the kid born right when that game came out, is 16 now. And if he/she is a gamer, of course they would rather experience the remake with updated visuals, rather then play the dated ps3 version.

Re: PS2 Set to Remain King of Consoles as Nintendo Switch Sales Start to Stall

StitchJones

@RoomWithaMoose 100% man. I'm a 50yo huge gaming enthusiast since the pong days and still gaming. I would never judge another player for their likes and preferences. If you like all consoles, then thats great. More games for you in the end that way haha. Nintendo was never my thing. I respect them for what they did for the industry but just not my cup of tea. Ive had every xbox console since the OG.

But I might as well say that I never had the xbone or seriesX, cause they have both been nothing but dust collectors for me. It will be ps6 only for me next gen. Not only do I have zero interest in xbox's offerings, I can't support a company that trashes the industry the way they do now. Happy gaming bud

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 'Probably' Wouldn't Have Happened without GTA 5 DLC Cancellation

StitchJones

@Elfuggingjefe Glazing basically means "going out of ones way to constantly hype, talk up, claim that something (in this case a videogame) is like the GOAT, or amazing etc" Usually egregiously or nonstop. I didn't say you were glazing. I said that the gaming community has a knack to glaze the crap out of RDR2 since it came out. The most recent big time glazing is ARC-Glazers. The amount of youtube posters glazing this game is cringey at this point

Re: PS2 Set to Remain King of Consoles as Nintendo Switch Sales Start to Stall

StitchJones

Why would anyone care about a console's sales? Unless you have stock in that company and your livelihood is at stake. Is Nintendo even a publicly traded company? Besides the point. Anyways.....

All I care about is games. I want a great 1st party stable and the capabilities to play all 3rd party games with no concessions. Therefore I dont support Xbox, or Nintendo.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 'Probably' Wouldn't Have Happened without GTA 5 DLC Cancellation

StitchJones

@Elfuggingjefe I dont' understand the glazing of this game. Even people who like it admit that your main character controls like a freaking forklift in this game. The gameplay is disgustingly bad. Yes, the graphics, atmosphere, story are top notch. But I thought gameplay was king?

When somebody says a game uses a dated engine and it looks like crap, then they get blasted and told "gameplay is all that matters, who cares about graphics?"

But here is the opposite. The presentation is above and beyond and the supposed most important aspect, the gameplay, is like total dogmeat. Yet this game gets totally glazed. hahaha

Re: Arc Raiders to Be Packed Full of More Content Before the Year Is Over

StitchJones

@Daleaf I always play online games with crossplay switched off. The mouse, keyboard advantage is bonkers. And I play solo. I don't have any friends into this game and the problem i have with matchmaking a squad, is that 1/2 the time not everyone is on the same page. Markers are set to what everything else's agenda is. So if I plan to go "here" to complete a quest, or go "there" to get a material or something, if that doesn't line up with what everything else wants to do then it became pointless to get in a squad. So i just roll solo

Re: Arc Raiders to Be Packed Full of More Content Before the Year Is Over

StitchJones

@Kiefer-Sutherland You do get it, but you want to glaze this game so. What I said is simple. It has nothing to do with how long I or anyone stays out there to make it higher risk. I used the 30min mark to say that is the max time that you can waste having a great run, but getting pasted at the end by griefers. This game is full of them.

So regardless of how much time you stay out on a run, the fact still remains and has nothing to do with risk. Yes you can put yourself at higher risk in this game. But risk has nothing to do with griefers deciding to ruin your run. Its their choice to run around this game and be dou**e bags

Re: Arc Raiders to Be Packed Full of More Content Before the Year Is Over

StitchJones

@Oram77 Honestly I think Marathon was gonna be just above DOA even if ARC didn't exist. The Bungie diehards will keep it from being the next Concord. But it will be forgotten fast.

However, ARC is a turnoff for many, cause of how easy it is to invest your time in this s***show and then in the last min you lose everything and your time all in a blink

Re: Arc Raiders to Be Packed Full of More Content Before the Year Is Over

StitchJones

This game would have been worlds better if they separated the PvP from the PvE. Just like the division. You can only fight other hostel players in that game in designated areas or modes for that.

This game expects you to juggle worrying about getting through the ARC and dudes being total A**holes at any given moment. Its egregious how much of a time waster and let down this game can be on any given run, or runs in a row. Ashame

Re: Arc Raiders to Be Packed Full of More Content Before the Year Is Over

StitchJones

After getting turned off with the server slam, I bit the bullet (only $40 which converted me) and bought the game. I really want to love this game. The gunplay, scavenging, graphics, mechanics, atmosphere is really great. Props to the devs.....

But nothing is more disheartening and a waste of time, then being on a great 30min run, racking up xp, getting gear you really wanted, only to be blindsided by a guy, or group who want to just cause grief, then you lose everything. A total 1/2 hour of your time and fun F'in wasted in a blink.

Re: ARC Raiders (PS5) - A Triumph in Multiplayer Immersion

StitchJones

@Toot1st yes 100%. I can't deal with a game that when you play it, you can be on a great 1/2 hour run, got some great stuff, or finally brought that rocket launcher with you. Only to have it lost in the end cause you get ransacked by a punk who is just there to cause grief after you are emoting "don't shoot". Such a waste of time

Re: PS5 Pro Adds Frame Rate Option for Metal Gear Solid Delta

StitchJones

@Insanelollipop Thanks for the info. Yeah, I do the same thing, main game/side game. My side game at the moment and for much longer will be battlefield 4. And my main game was Cronos, but I finished that Yesterday. I was on the fence about Borderlands 4 due to the updates. The main one i want fixed before I bother is the memory leak. I won't pay for a game where I have to restart after every 30 to 40 mins like the dev suggestted. Thats ludicrous. I played the other borderlands and it is a main game to me. RPG systems, length, story elements. Battlefield is the perfect side game.

I had Oblivion remake already on my pro waiting for updates. I decided to go into that after I finished Cronos. So maybe in another month Borderlands will be in better shape. I'm not sure if i'll go into outerworlds 2 first though. I'll see. Great time for gaming right now though, i'll say that.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 605

StitchJones

Finally finished Cronos. Great game, loved it, but I was ready to move on. For a slow game of that nature, it dragged on a bit too long.

Deep dived into the backlog for Oblivion remake, finally. I'm done waiting for patches. Its still a bit unpolished, but playable enough. I gotta say though, the graphics and animation are fantastic. And the music!

Re: ARC Raiders (PS5) - A Triumph in Multiplayer Immersion

StitchJones

@Pat_trick I'm with you after the server slam. You can literally spawn in, collect some wires and spawn out with ZERO! ZERO! action. This game is so slow and passive. Why am I collecting all this crap to get more powerful, to only use the powerful gear only half the time. Pointless

Re: ARC Raiders (PS5) - A Triumph in Multiplayer Immersion

StitchJones

this game is like "the finals of extraction shooters" (embark's other game as you know). Its different and will be polarizing. People will either like the boring, more tedious, less action kind of pace, or like the finals it just wont be for them.

One thing that is cringey to me is how this game is one big glazed donut. The same people on podcasts who think embark is underrated and the finals should have been more played are glazing this game hard trying to sell the masses on this like they did the finals. Don't build hype with your beliefs, let the game speak and see what happens.

Re: Poll: Do You Play Horror Games Around Halloween?

StitchJones

@Fuzzymonkeyfunk Judas looks amazing. if it was any other developer other than Levine, I'd be a bit worried now though. But he seems to have Rockstar's mentality that if our next game takes a decade or longer, then whatever. He doesn't seem to care. Nobody is immune to development troubles though, so hopefully all is good over there.

Re: Poll: Do You Play Horror Games Around Halloween?

StitchJones

@Fuzzymonkeyfunk DS2 was amazing. I hope you have a blast with it. Yeah, this backlog is crazy. So much to choose from. I honestly don't know where I'm going next after Cronos. A few games on my radar need to be patched first too, so there's that. Happy gaming bud

Re: Poll: Do You Play Horror Games Around Halloween?

StitchJones

@HeavymetalGordon I love your avatar by the way. Bloodborne is such a great Halloween game. Nothing screams Halloween more then that Gothic atmosphere and the Gothic looking structures in that game. And the cryptic delivery of the lore as well. Soooo F'in good man.

Re: Poll: Do You Play Horror Games Around Halloween?

StitchJones

@HeavymetalGordon Those are some sweet Halloween movies. Do you like the old time ones at all? I have a prime membership right now just to watch all the old Vincent Price movies they got available now for Halloween. His movies are so good. The days way before quality special effects, when they had to get creative with old cameras and wooden set pieces. lol

Re: Poll: Do You Play Horror Games Around Halloween?

StitchJones

@Fuzzymonkeyfunk Cronos has been great so far. Its very much like Dead Space, but sets itself apart in ways. You're basically a tank like character on a mission in dire circumstances like dead space. And the character moves as such. Gameplay is very slow and methodical like DS, not twitchy. Inventory management is huge, resources are scarce and choosing how to lvl up is key too

that loop ties into the gameplay as well. because you have to be very tactical about how you go about combat, to the point of being careful as to where you lay an enemy out in a given area. it pays dividends because live creatures can merge with dead ones to become stronger (thats not a spoiler, has been in previews way before release)

it seems more horror then DS. DS to me is horror yes, but a bit more sci fi then this. But the atmosphere and music are soooo good. There are also some pretty cool traversal mechanics which would be spoilers, so I won't say anything other then that. they are not really ground breaking, but not generic. they add a nice touch to the package.

Re: Poll: Do You Play Horror Games Around Halloween?

StitchJones

@rusty82 yeah you never know. Silent hill still a great choice though. Yeah, Cronos can be difficult and there's a ton of inventory management involved with limited spots at first. So if that is not your thing, then def steer away. But I love it, its been great. Def not a GOY contender for me. Esp in a year with Yotei and Death stranding 2. But it should def win some kind of award for atmosphere and sound design for sure.

Re: Poll: Do You Play Horror Games Around Halloween?

StitchJones

@rusty82 nice selections. I planned on getting ps5 until dawn all summer for my halloween game, but then Cronos changed that. I may go right into Silent hill F after Cronos, but Halloween is tomorrow already and I'm not quite done with Cronos yet lol

Re: Poll: Do You Play Horror Games Around Halloween?

StitchJones

Damn right I play horror games around Halloween. A total tradition. This year its been Cronos, hoping to beat it tonight or tomorrow. I want to play RE: req this Feb. but I'm thinking of saving it for next fall and making it next Oct's Halloween game.

Fall is my fave time of year. Hockey is finally back after a boring summer of no sports and gaming is best during fall/winter. Its just the vibe

Re: PS5's Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Draws Closer with Naughty Dog Recruitment Drive

StitchJones

@Vermines @Thelegend159 Yeah, I have a biased opinion because it was my theory lol, but I agree. And that would kind of automatically fill in the soundtrack during battles as well. Maybe Trent and Atticus's score they are doing will be more for the exploration and story beats. Listen, i don't care, cause we all know its ND. This game is gonna blow us away. I'm just sure of it. Anyone denying is still sour about TLOU2. And i say, get over it.

Re: PS5's Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Draws Closer with Naughty Dog Recruitment Drive

StitchJones

@Vermines 100%. I found that cool too. The bottom of her sword is round and looks like it can hold a CD. My theory all along was, since they are using licensed music, that her sword grip has that CD player, she has different CD's of music that can be installed in the sword, which supple different affects to the weapon. The type of music depends on what kind of enemie you are facing. Metal is logically more aggressive for the bosses. Lol idk, just my theory.
