Their next console when the next gen hits is pretty much already guaranteed to flop at this point. They rubbed too many consumers and the whole games industry the wrong way. Why even bother?
@UltimateOtaku91 looking at this list I guess i'm not the only one that didn't have Doom:Dark ages anywhere near best graphics. That game was totally underwhelming, not because the graphics are bad, but usually you can count on ID tech games to be showpieces. It was a good game and ran great. But fidelity wise, it was a huge let down from what they are capable of
@twitchtvpat Oh I'm totally with you, I can't wait. Horizon turned into one of my fave IP's of all time. This Feb. will mark FW being out for 4yrs already. You figure we could easily see Horizon 3 possibly Feb of 2027, shown off late next year. That would be a 5yr dev cycle. They already have the engine built, its not a new IP, story arch's already established, so. Its not like ND with Intergalactic and how that's a new IP.
It seems Sony is establishing two 1st party releases to be out per year. 2026 will Saros/Wolverine, so 2027 Horizon 3 early and Intergalactic a fall/winter game, right?
If the next Horizon can pull off DS2's ver. of Decima with that open world and way more things going on screen at once, then that will be amazing. If they actually pull it off with a further upgraded ver. of Decima that was used on DS2 for Horizon3, then that will be mind blowing and become the new benchmark until we get native ps6 games
@Titntin Remember the intellivision baseball and basketball games? They were like stick figures on a court or field that was about as detailed as pong. And back then that was cutting edge lol. I used to love the game Kaboom on Atari. That was prob the first game I ever played that had an addicting loop for gameplay.
And yes, all comment sections are not immune to "comment section warriors" but for the most, there's some really cool people on here to talk games with. Esp now. The GTA6 affect has been awesome. So many releases the last few months and it has no plans on letting up. A back catalog and having to choose what to get next is a great problem to have.
IGN needed to write a negative centric article about PS a day after Xbox once again urinated all over itself with the gamepass price increases. Xbox has been shooting themselves in the foot this whole gen and every other week it seems. The writer is known to be a total Xbot and is clearly sour about his fave company crapping the sheets 2 gens in a row.
Grief is one of many forms of a struggle. Revenge comes after an experience of struggle and grief. Every freakin' hardcore story driven video game since the start of time has some form of these themes. Unless you are Astrobot, Mario, Pokemon, Madden etc etc
But if you boil it down to its core, even Astrobot has a form of struggle in it. Its just not depicted like they do in Last of us, GOW, etc
@Titntin Not in a million years would I think that anybody "Has" to agree with my opinion (my Yotei review in this case). I was just giving my impressions on the game here.I haven't been on here long, but so far I see that there's a good bunch of people on here to chat with. And I like reading and leaving comments here.
You are all cool to me.
And I'm glad you dont agree with my critique of the game. I want people to enjoy the games they buy, esp the Sony exclusives. I'm an older gamer. My first console was an intellivision. Now I'm 50 and still a gaming fanatic and a total Playstation die hard. I take the PS logo flag into battle. So that said, I want to love every exclusive they put out. If I don't I get bummed, but if others do then I'm still happy for you.
And I didn't say the graphics were totally washed. I said it was a nice looking game with sweet frame rate. But in places it looks identical to GoT. I know the DF video you are referring to. And you go back and watch, they do say that there are some textures in the game in areas that are not good.
So once again, if you are looking for the Horizon ZD to Horizon FW jump here, then its just not there. And its a bummer to me because Horizon was a cross gen game. We are 5 yrs into ps5 and I just expected more on the visual front thats all.
@Nexozi Good for you man. The G5 is a beast. The S95 by Samsung, that's the one where they decided to go with the matte finish on their flagship, instead of a glass panel right? I heard mixed reviews about it being matte. Some people love it, some people hate it. But honestly, having a glass panel gives you deeper blacks and better contrast, esp with the WOLED tech that will be in your G5 when you get it. Plus with that new RGB tandem tech, the ABL isn't as aggressive as older models. But I have a service remote and just turn off ABL entirely and take the risk. Still no burn in. You are going from a CX to a G5 in Oled not counting your S95? If so, that's gonna be a huge jump in peak brightness. I'm still running a CX and why I want the G5. 800nits aint cutting it in 2025 anymore lmao
@Nexozi What do you have now a G5? I want that TV bad but don't have the $4k to dump on it. That TV is amazing though. And the new RGB tandem panel tech is amazing
I'm gonna get totally blasted here, but I don't care. We are all supposed to be adults and we can all leave our honest takes. Even Sony diehards like me can critique if we want.
I loved GoT, get that out of the way 1st. So far, Yotei is a solid video game to me. We all know the saying for sequels "its more of the 1st game and that's a good thing". Most times that applies, but not here with Yotei.
The main character isn't even close to Jin in likeability. She's too blank and just not likeable, what can i say. Her voice in the flashbacks as a kid sounds like she is 30 years old. Not sure what they were thinking with that. If you don't like the characters in a show, movie or game, its hard to give a crap about them and get immersed/attached. So there's that.
And my main gripe, which is gonna get me blasted, is the laziness with the game engine. I'm running on pro, ray tracing pro mode. Yes its a nice looking game. Sweet frame rate. But Yotei looks like it could have been a ps4pro exclusive. Just that little extra horsepower needed over base ps4 to run at 60 with RT. In some areas it looks 100% identical to the 1st game. There is no excuse for this.
Gameplay is king, I get it. But this is 1st party big budget. Sucker punch has never been a slouch with their games in terms of visuals. Maybe not Decima level (Guerillla/kojima) but still. For this to be a native ps5 game, this late in the life cycle, there's no freaking way that this should only look like a minor upgrade visually compared to its ps4 predecessor.
Look at the difference between Horizon ZD and Horizon FW. Huge jump visually and that was a cross gen game. Look at the jump in Death Stranding 1 to DS2. There should have been this bump with Yotei from one of our big 1st party devs and they did not deliver.
All this aside, I will def continue and beat the game and I will walk away saying that is was a solid video game. But GoT was something special. This game will be forgotten easy. It just doesn't have that star power we come to expect with a 1st party sequel out of playstation.
@LogicStrikesAgain Lmao. I thought i was going crazy. I knew I remembered your 1st post not having any quote tags. But again, I was tired after work so. Oh well, just a misunderstanding. And yeah, I try to be civil and be able to admit when I'm wrong. I don't roll in the "way of the comment section warrior." The internet can be a nasty place. But we all have a choice to not let it be to our eyes.
@LogicStrikesAgain Actually, I do need to apologize here. I re-read your comment wondering if i was the crazy one here. When I initially read, I didn't see you were replying to someone. Upon re-reading I saw you were replying to not one, but two people. Not realizing when initially reading, I thought to myself, "is this guy talking to himself with his comment in the 3rd person, or does he have split personality?" It sounded like you asked yourself "what's wrong with sequels?" and then answered your own question. But you were replying and I got it all botched up.
I got home from work tired as F when I first saw your post. I went to sleep for a bit and I'm more coherent now lmao. Hence the apology. My bad man
@Shinnok789 it makes more sense to do a Ghosts of Yotei/Cyberpunk Collaboration. V teaches her how to drive, install a cyberdeck and how to pick up hookers at the Afterlife bar
@Bez87 We can't even get a game anymore that isn't broken at launch due to Dev's being clueless as to how to optimize their own crap and being too dumb to delay and fix first. So, lets not give them another hurdle to work out such as latency issues that accompany the theory of streaming when they are already clueless on how to release a working game.
@XenonKnight I already have a ps5pro and as you know there's been an onslaught of releases the last few months due to the GTA6 affect, with much more to come into next year. So I'm fine. Don't need any advice for gaming lol. Thank you though
@XenonKnight I had the OG, 360 was obv their best, xbox one was ok but slowly a dust collector late gen, but yeah you are right. I will never buy another xbox product ever. Besides the fact its a dust collector I just can't support a company with my $$$$ that is negatively affecting the industry like they are. So there's that on top of it all.
@XenonKnight I got it on launch day. I've always been a two console gamer (PS/xbox) even though I favor and I'm primarily a Playstation Diehard. Nobody had any idea back then that Xbox was gonna tank hard in this industry. That's why
Dude enough of this! They should just send Borderlands 4, Silent Hill 2, Metal Gear, Oblivion remake and everything that's broke to Cerny and watch that man fix this crap in his sleep. I'd bet he'd have patches out and every single mess cleaned up by the end of this month.
I've never seen a dust collector change so much in my life. This paper weight of a xbox series X under my entertainment center has had 20 different prices and 20 different versions/prices of its online service this generation alone.
@dskatter you beat me to it, exactly what i was thinking. I hate to see layoffs anywhere in this industry, but when's the last time Bioware put out a game that was at least talked about for a while after release. Been ages. And been way way longer since they put out anything truly epic. And they had so many epic games back in the day. Crazy to think
@Rich33 It might be a cross gen ps5/ps6 game, but more then likely native ps6. But that's irrelevant and I disagree with what you said about it all being ok if they wait for ps6. Cause the problem isn't the hardware, its the UE5 engine. High end PC's right now aren't immune to the UE5 problems. Far from it. So again, I hope CDPR knew what it was doing and can optimize Witcher 4 properly in the end.
I hope they stay with RED engine for cyberpunk 2. That game had a very special artistic vibe to it that was very charming. It would be ashamed to see that lost for the Cyberpunk sequel. RED engine is a beast too. I'm not a PC gamer, but i have seen Cyberpunk running on a beast of a rig and its otherwordly. The next iteration of RED for ps6/PC could be the new benchmark for everything. But we would still need to see Decima's native ps6 iteration which will be a showstopper itself. Naughty Dog, Guerilla and CDPR are magicians with their prop. engines. F*** UE5, who needs it?
@Rich33 Its ashame we are at a point where when a new game comes out we wonder if its using UE5 because of a possible death sentence. UE has been dominant and the go to for years. Talk about a fall from grace. I sound like a broken record with this, but I hope CDPR knew what it was doing switching to UE5 from RED engine.
Esp after the mess cyberpunk was at launch. Can you imagine if witcher 4 releases and is a huge UE5 mess like most games have been? Any good will rebuilt with fixing Cyberpunk will be lost all over again
Is this game using UE5? if so that explains the begging before release. The next red flag will be no review codes sent out until a week after this releases
@Northern_munkey You clearly overanalyzed and/or rearranged for your reply. It obv has nothing to do with hurting anyone, and everything to do with packaging up something that is not fixed yet and putting it on stores shelves.
I don't support the EA NHL series anymore since its cut and paste rubbish, so my controllers last alot longer now. That game has been ripping controller sticks to shreds since ps1
This is disgusting. When a car is recalled right after the assembly line, does the auto maker ship it to showrooms to sell anyways, broken? No they do not.
@Oram77 I think push square had to inaccurately label it a shooter so they can word the title "most promising 2026 shooter". Because if the title was accurately worded as "most promising action/adv game of 2026" then that would be a false claim. For 3rd person, or over the shoulder action/adv like pragmata, this will not even come close to "most promising" of 2026. The landscape for those games next year is quite vast. Shooters, not so much. So you see what they did there?
@Fatewalker how does PC win hard when its expensive as hell to have an optimal machine? Yes it wins hard in raw performance, I will never deny that. But in cost, not even close. People were in an uproar over the ps5pro. And that is only the fraction of the cost of a gaming rig. That's if you even know how to assemble it, which most do not. so prebuilt or paying to be built for you is pricier.
@UltimateOtaku91 We can't even get a 60fps patch for RDR2. I'm gonna get blasted on here for this, but I'm sorry, that game is trash. The visuals, story, immersion and realism are indeed top notch. But that game is constructed to need 60fps, period. The main character controls like a forklift its so bad. Its unplayable to me. All the realism and fidelity in the world don't make it fun to move a forklift around an open world
@Oram77 I agree with you. The first game was awesome at the time. But after that game was released Bullying in schools got to a point where kids would commit suicide if it got too bad for them, because schools and the bully's parents refused to take proper action and accountability. I've seen some docs on this and its very sad that this happens in a world.
@LogicStrikesAgain Not only are they creating a brand new IP, but they are arguably the best dev in the business still, right now. There's never any need to worry about their games running like crap or crashing either which is so prevalent with every release these days. So that said, they can take their time with their next iteration of brilliance
@Rich33 PC will never be an alternative for devoted hardcore console followers and casual gamers. They are too pricey and you either have to pay more for prebuilt, pay a PC store to build one for you, or try yourself and risk F'ing it up. Its not a practical solution to all this. Besides, all that $$$$ for a gaming rig and that still doesn't fix the UE5 probs. PC is no better for those broken games then console is
@Rich33 Yes agree with everything you stated. And let's not forget the engine that's going to be used for Intergalactic. Naughty Dog are magicians just like Guerilla with Decima. They always have show pieces for engines. I can't wait to see their first native ps5 game and its prop. engine it will be using for this gen. Its ashame by the time that game comes out ps5 will basically be over soon. These games take too long to make but that's a diff story all together.
Another thing about UE5 is that sucks, Oblivion remake has been out for ages now and its still not patched enough to fix the UE5 probs. So it seems that the problems are unfixable after release. Metal Gear still waiting for patches and Borderlands 4 may fall into that category as well.
All I know is, when next gen comes out, those machines are prob gonna be pricey. And even if they are affordable, it wont matter. But whatever engine the devs start using for ps6 that's not in house, if its UE6 or whatever, an effort needs to be applied next gen to ensure us consumers are not stuck with all these broken releases again.
@Rich33 yeah right. What I hate is that nobody wants to take any accountability for their game's being broken. And us the consumers who are paying alot of $$$ for this expensive hobby are the ones who are suffering. Tim Sweeney is blaming the devs for UE5 probs. The devs are not responding to him saying he's right or he's wrong which adds a layer of f**kery to the whole thing. Its such a mess
@Andy22385 yeah, it seems in house engines are ruling now. Past gens UE was ruling along side, now its holding games back. Look at Decima in DS2 and both Horizons. CDPR was stupid for switching to UE5 for witcher 4 and prob cyberpunk 2. RED engine after some work was awesome.
@TheDudeKenobi They can be a bit finicky for sure. But I noticed the more LSD you take the easier going they are. I don't know for sure by I bet Kojima is on some quality sh**
@johncalmc Not a weird decision at all. When you take into account that Xbox raised all the prices of their dust collectors, I mean hardware sku's, maybe they feel that should reserve some exclusives, even if they're timed, to see if some people will be dumb enough to pay those prices for their paper weights.
Everything is set in Japan now. Japan, Japan, Japan. Every RPG, soulslike, silent hill F, assassins creed's last entry. Remember when world war 2 was getting tired for shooters and there was outcry for change? thats where we are at with all this Japan stuff now man. Still way more Japan themed games yet to release too

Re: 'If This Doesn't Sell, There Won't Be a Next One': Dynasty Warriors 3 Remake Producer Asks for Support
Re: 'If This Doesn't Sell, There Won't Be a Next One': Dynasty Warriors 3 Remake Producer Asks for Support
Is this game using UE5? if so that explains the begging before release. The next red flag will be no review codes sent out until a week after this releases
Re: Bethesda Finally Announces Oblivion Remastered Physical Edition Is Real
@Northern_munkey Lmao, whatever clown. You're nothing but a comment section warrior. Have fun
Re: Bethesda Finally Announces Oblivion Remastered Physical Edition Is Real
@Northern_munkey You clearly overanalyzed and/or rearranged for your reply. It obv has nothing to do with hurting anyone, and everything to do with packaging up something that is not fixed yet and putting it on stores shelves.
Re: Rumour: New PS5 DualSense Controller Will Feature a Removable Battery
I don't support the EA NHL series anymore since its cut and paste rubbish, so my controllers last alot longer now. That game has been ripping controller sticks to shreds since ps1
Re: Bethesda Finally Announces Oblivion Remastered Physical Edition Is Real
This is disgusting. When a car is recalled right after the assembly line, does the auto maker ship it to showrooms to sell anyways, broken? No they do not.
Re: Preview: PS5's Most Promising 2026 Shooter Pragmata Is Starting to Take Shape
Re: Preview: PS5's Most Promising 2026 Shooter Pragmata Is Starting to Take Shape
@Oram77 would you consider RE9 a shooter though?
Re: Ghost of Yotei (PS5) - The Greatest Sucker Punch Game Ever
@Fatewalker how does PC win hard when its expensive as hell to have an optimal machine? Yes it wins hard in raw performance, I will never deny that. But in cost, not even close. People were in an uproar over the ps5pro. And that is only the fraction of the cost of a gaming rig. That's if you even know how to assemble it, which most do not. so prebuilt or paying to be built for you is pricier.
Re: Why Did We Never Get Bully 2? Rockstar Co-Founder Dan Houser Explains
All the realism and fidelity in the world don't make it fun to move a forklift around an open world
Re: Why Did We Never Get Bully 2? Rockstar Co-Founder Dan Houser Explains
Re: The Last of Us 2 Is Now Available on PS Plus Extra on PS5, PS4
@LogicStrikesAgain Not only are they creating a brand new IP, but they are arguably the best dev in the business still, right now. There's never any need to worry about their games running like crap or crashing either which is so prevalent with every release these days. So that said, they can take their time with their next iteration of brilliance
Re: Ghost of Yotei (PS5) - The Greatest Sucker Punch Game Ever
@Rich33 PC will never be an alternative for devoted hardcore console followers and casual gamers. They are too pricey and you either have to pay more for prebuilt, pay a PC store to build one for you, or try yourself and risk F'ing it up. Its not a practical solution to all this. Besides, all that $$$$ for a gaming rig and that still doesn't fix the UE5 probs. PC is no better for those broken games then console is
Re: Ghost of Yotei (PS5) - The Greatest Sucker Punch Game Ever
Re: Ghost of Yotei (PS5) - The Greatest Sucker Punch Game Ever
@Rich33 yeah right. What I hate is that nobody wants to take any accountability for their game's being broken. And us the consumers who are paying alot of $$$ for this expensive hobby are the ones who are suffering. Tim Sweeney is blaming the devs for UE5 probs. The devs are not responding to him saying he's right or he's wrong which adds a layer of f**kery to the whole thing. Its such a mess
Re: Ghost of Yotei (PS5) - The Greatest Sucker Punch Game Ever
@Andy22385 yeah, it seems in house engines are ruling now. Past gens UE was ruling along side, now its holding games back. Look at Decima in DS2 and both Horizons. CDPR was stupid for switching to UE5 for witcher 4 and prob cyberpunk 2. RED engine after some work was awesome.
Re: NHL 26 (PS5) - A Small Step in the Right Direction for EA's Hockey Sim
@gbanas92 yeah open world pond hockey. you have to skate from Vancouver all the way to the next pond and game in Calgary lmao
Re: Random: Auteur Hideo Kojima Hopes to Win an Award by Scanning a Real-Life Ghost into His Horror Game
@TheDudeKenobi They can be a bit finicky for sure. But I noticed the more LSD you take the easier going they are. I don't know for sure by I bet Kojima is on some quality sh**
Re: Forza Horizon 6 Announced, But Not on PS5 at Launch
@johncalmc Not a weird decision at all. When you take into account that Xbox raised all the prices of their dust collectors, I mean hardware sku's, maybe they feel that should reserve some exclusives, even if they're timed, to see if some people will be dumb enough to pay those prices for their paper weights.
Re: Forza Horizon 6 Announced, But Not on PS5 at Launch
Everything is set in Japan now. Japan, Japan, Japan. Every RPG, soulslike, silent hill F, assassins creed's last entry. Remember when world war 2 was getting tired for shooters and there was outcry for change? thats where we are at with all this Japan stuff now man. Still way more Japan themed games yet to release too
