Re: The Last of Us Multiplayer's Microtransactions Man Has Left Naughty Dog

SoulsBourne128

It's really sad to see the state that Factions is in. I really enjoyed TLoU1's Factions mode so I was looking forward for the sequel's spin on the multiplayer feature.

The one good thing to come out form this is that hopefully, Sony will realize their view on live service games just isn't enough and will instead focus on single player games with or without multiplayer add ons (that aren't necessary to enjoy the base game like GoT Legends). Still, a shame to see. Whether yoy like TLoU2 or not, you have to admit that the combat itself is really solid and I would have loved to try it out in co-op or PvP.

Re: PlayStation's Push for Live Service Games Hasn't Been Going Smoothly

SoulsBourne128

There's a clear difference between multiplayer and live service games. Instead of focusing an delivering us fun chaotic games that we can all enjoy with or without friends, they are all too focused on planning roadmaps, microtrnsactions, multiple currencies, lootboxes, battle passes, etc. Not every multiplayer game need to last more than 5 years. They just need to be good enough to ensure more people to keep playing it. Before the servers were closed, I had way more fun with Killzone 2's and Uncharted 2's multiplayer than with mostbrecent live service games, and those didn't need to last that long to be enjoyable. Just a few dlcs and add-ons are good enough.

The one live service idea that Sony could atleast tackle on is bringing back Playstation Home.

Re: Rumour: Wild Hearts Support Is Being Slashed Just Seven Months After Release

SoulsBourne128

It's a shame that the only one in the hunting genre that's still alive and kicking is monster hunter as always. God Eater, Toukiden, Soul Sacrifice, sadly not many of them have managed to meet a similar stride as MH. The only exceptiom is dauntless but I barley hear anyone talking about it. Plus, revamping the game's systems to force the player to constantly grind for somewhat minimal upgrades put me off.

Re: PS Plus Essential Games for September 2023 Announced

SoulsBourne128

Yeah, this lineup isn't doing it for me. Largely more of a FF14 fan so I'm not interested in another mmo at the moment. Not interested in the new saints row game either. I might give generation zero a shot out of curiosity but I doubt I'll be playing it for a long time lol i am kinda surprised that it has been receiving a lot of updates though. One of those few rar elive service games that's still alive for some reason.

Re: Melee Multiplayer Game Broken Edge Takes a Swing at PSVR2 in September

SoulsBourne128

Love the style. Though I'm usually iffy on multiplayer PSVR2 games. Not because they're bad but because unless tehy're firewall, their online activity could dwindle at any time to the point of having the possibility of a server shut down, due to how niche the PSVR still is in the gaming market. A shame cause there are some pretty good multiplayer psvr games. Sadly, not many of them managed to mainting a healthy playerbase.

Re: PS5 Action RPG The God Slayer Could Be Incredible, But Is Not Due Until 2027

SoulsBourne128

Considering one of the earlier projects was Project X which was similarly billed as an action chinese epic but was sadly cancelled, I'm glad that sony asia didn't quickly abandoned the concept and saved it for the later batches and from what I have heard, my time at portia was pretty good, though seeing them go from a simulation rpg to a hack and slash one could be a bit risque. Then again, same thing happened with F.I.S.T. and that one ended up surpriisngly solid, so who knows?

Re: Yet Another Live Service Game Is Shutting Down After Just One Year

SoulsBourne128

I was sorta expecting this to happened. Last time I played, there was a severe lack of balance with some of the mechas, and the map layouts aren't as well designed as Overwatch's (or heck, even Paladins'). Another thing I didn't like was how you were forced to be thrown on random modes, as the game didn't let you choose the mode you want. It really made the game just tedious to play, which is a shame because I could see potential here.

Also, because the game didn't have that many support mechas, the whole "team synergy" just didn't work here, especially when the game gives little explanation on which mecha does well.

Re: Concrete Genie Developer PixelOpus Is Shutting Down

SoulsBourne128

@ThorsHammer Really feels like Sony's focus on next gen games with that AAA feel is doing more damage than good. Heck, even with China Hero Project which is supposed to expand chinese games to overseas, unless the games we're talking about are FIST and Lost Soul Aside, they barely mentioned any of their other games, including those that are still in development hell like Pervader and AI Limit.

Sony needs to step up and start giving us a catalogue of diverse games that aren't just from making deals with indie studios or third party studios, bur from first party studios as well. I want more colorful first party games that aren't just next gen open world action or over-the-shoulder narrative-focused, and this is coming from someone who loves God of War, Spiderman, Ghost of Tsushima, etc.

Re: Media Molecule to Cease Live Service for Dreams, Now Working on a New Project

SoulsBourne128

I honestly blame sony for not marketing this game enough. They couldn't at the very least give it a PC port to bring in new players. It's a shame because it had a lot of potential. But regardless, I guess it was expected. Because it was mostly just a "game maker", it probably didn't make a huge splash with the general audience, especially those who just want to play a game with a story and a more focused gameplay.

Re: Soapbox: PSVR2 Already Feels Like It's on Course for Failure

SoulsBourne128

I'm still baffled as to how poorly marketed this was compared to the girst PSVR. Hell, PSVR1 even got the attention of chinese developers, which were all the rage for Sony asia back in 2016. But as years went on and with PSVR2 already on the horizon, I've barely seen any chinese game coming to the new platform. Not even ports atleast. I'm convinced the hype for the vr machine went down as time went by, but that's just me.

Also, lack of backward compatibility. The fact that previous psvr games need to be ported to PSVR2 instead of simply just playing them on it like with the ps5 is a huge downside. Not to mention not all of the psvr games will get ported. Highly doubt games like loading human, mini mech mayhem or dying reborn will get ported to VR2 at all, so don't hold your breat on playing them on a newer hardware.

Re: Fortnite Has Been Utterly Transformed by Brain Bending New Tools

SoulsBourne128

@Impossibilium That's my problem I have with Sony. They have a tendency to give out some good ideas but they either don't do much with it, aren't well executed, or just abandon it completely. PS Tv, dreams, Playlink, ps classic, ps plus tiers, Vita, China hero, ps talents, live service games, etc. The only one I'm sueprised it managed to succeed was Ps vr, and even then the fact that psvr2 doesn't support backwards compatibility is a huge blow.

Dreams imo, is really underappreciated and I think it would benefit on coming to other platforms, especially when media molecule expressed interest on that idea. Imagine playing Dreams on the go on the switch and create games without needing internet connection. Instead, Sony would rather spend much of their money on ad campaigns for their bigger cinematic games instead of using half of it to support or expand their other projects.

Re: Uh Oh! Sony Patents NFT Trading Framework for Gaming Platforms

SoulsBourne128

@UltimateOtaku91 Yeah, and the reactions for all of them were nothing but negative. Just because others are doing it, doesn't mean it's a good thing. They're just jumping on what's currently popular (trend catching). Besides, even if it's popular, it won't guarantee that it will be a success. Remember Ubisoft Quartz? Did so poorly that it practically killed the support for Ghost recon breakpoint.
