my CE just came in!!!! However since my PS5 is in a box somewhere not sure when I will play. My TV is also in a box anyway lol. So I’m probably gonna get off the internet for a few months so I don't get spoiled. But I am very excited!

I’m gonna wait to start it now that I am back playing AC Shadows (plus PS5 is still in a box somewhere) but excited to get ghost of yotei this week.

Eh I wish they would set games in different ages. Way more wiggle room to work with. Wish there was a new RTS game.

UGH I pretty much can’t import any magazines from japan due to all the changes in shipping and tariff policy. Would have bought this issue in a heartbeat.

Restructuring is going to be brutal. I suspect a lot of people will be out of work soon. My condolences. Welp I would get a random EA game on occasion, but it won’t be difficult to move on from them for me. I guess the new sims 4 expansion is my last one. As with the investors they have I am sure they are going to drastically change or cancel the franchise.

Sometimes it feels surreal that a company can be valued so high when the employees aren’t getting a fraction of that (even the ones with good positions barring C-suite).

Wow MTG has changed a lot since I played in the 90’s.

I am hoping some sheet music will get released so I can play on my shamisen or fue. I still don’t have a good enough ear to play by sound.

Ghost of Yotei is my big PS hype, so I am happy. Hope that some traction/News comes out about a new Horizon game that isn’t lego (granted I will be buying that for switch) as that will be my next PS game. Given the length of these open world games I’ll be set for a while.

Sony just took the money for the CE so I expect it to ship soon. Wooooooo! Between this and AC Shadows, I am gonna have so much fun traveling Japan alongside these cool characters!

Edit: plus new Forza Horizon! At this rate I could skip going to Japan. lol.

Ehh I’ll wait for the Complete Edition. Didn’t realize it was coming out so soon.

I am very hopeful for this game. As I can’t really enjoy first person shooters (but grew up with goldeneye), the 3rd person bond games were pretty much the only shooters (well also gears of war) I played. (Everything or Nothing is still my favorite action game with guns.) So this plus the Hitman DNA means the game should be fun. Performance will decide if I buy it twice or not. Also, love M and Moneypenny.

Also hoping since this isn’t tied to an actor that they will make a few of these. I don’t like bond but I like his adventures/games.

Totally recommend. Getting the golden route is a bit of work (I straight up stumbled into it) but worth it.

I don’t play co-op so I don’t care but I am very much looking forward to the game release date.

Eh, costumes/unlocks make games more fun but so long as I can unlock them with in game currency/progress I am fine. Which you can for games like AC:Shadows.

I like the vehicle/travel concept but doesn’t look like it has any particular depth or enough customization to warrant a purchase from me. Good luck to those that want it though.

And if Jin was good at what he did there shouldn’t be much about him. He was a GHOST. The point is to disappear from history so he could work in the shadows. As far as history knows, he died on that beach. This isn’t assassins’s creed. His bloodline in particular isn’t special and he didn’t have super advanced tech or a cult. He did his thing and died. Good for him.

I love Asian Aussies. I don’t know why but they rank on the same as Southern US Asians in the “don’t take no crap” tone for me. I have a friend of mine that is Japanese by ethnicity but is from the same state as me. It is HILARIOUS watching folks do a double take when she pulls out the honeyed steel, southern belle accent.

For me I am fine not having the disc as I ended up having to buy a separate disc for the first game after having the collector’s edition to accommodate the DLC, same with Horizon. I am trying to keep
my library streamlined. No more double dips.

Cost of living is going up everywhere on earth. People simply have to decide where their money is best spent (because prices likely won’t go down until the market forces them down…and that is going to take sales cratering.). As I prep up my garden, freezer and canning I am doing what free wheeling spending on games I am doing this year. Jan 2026 I am in hibernation mode. I have enough games to last me until I am 65 anyway. High prices are a really good time to work down the backlog.

@PerpetualBoredom I did read the article. Pricing on PC eventually dropped to current sales all the time prices, often much cheaper than their physical counterparts. Even if it didn’t the market has been able to bear PC being digital only for decades. So if consoles go the same eventually the market will correct and find equilibrium. So I don’t see where I need to revisit my original comment. Perhaps you tagged me by mistake?

Personally I love this and hope more happens. I think there should be one or two agnostic boxes or software that makes existing boxes already agnostic. While still offering dedicated hardware. those of us that are tired of buying 3 boxes and PC can trim down, console faithful won’t see a difference if they don’t use the app and everyone gets games.

With this and sony PC support I can happily drop xbox and PS after this gen and just go Switch 2/PC and have the exact same access to games. I love it.

I did just buy SpiderMan 2 but it is still in shrink wrap. As that (and my ghost of Yotei preorder) is my only PS5 purchase this year so far. Multiplat though I would say Mario Kart World and Assassins’s Creed Shadows and South of Midnight are my top games so far this year. Been a great year so far.

I have mixed feelings about this. Ultimately I will always feel the decision lies with the Family/Estate and that for a person whose job included marketing their physical body (or voice) that is part of the legacy/inheritance left to allow for the generation of generational wealth and royalties.

However, I feel knowingly procuring the likeness of someone long dead isn’t very much different than the arguments that some have against AI as the actor isn’t alive to consent (and was long dead before such methods are used). At the same time people desecrate the dead in videogames/media if the person wasn’t a good person all the time. People profit from the dead often.

I am a huge Onimusha fan but this dampens my interest a bit. I will have to think about how I ultimately feel about it.

Just wait for unofficial patches on PC.

That’s why I wait until several years later to get mods (granted I have no interest in this game as it is obviously geared towards objectifying the heck out of the main character) as by then the horn dogs have done their stuff and moved on and the utility or cool fashionista mods show up. Nexus is a slog anyways no matter what though.

That’s the normal tug of war of the free market. Consumers want product for the lowest price possible and Producers want to sell product for the highest price possible. The middle ground is what the market can bear. Trying to stop other devs from taking a lump sum is a fool’s errand. even if subscriptions crater, consumers are going to buy based on perceived value.

Less demos, delays, day 1 patches, canceled/stunted/abandoned support, higher prices, retreaded genres/stories/protagonists, lack of desired genres/stories/protagonists, all impact perceived value. Personally I use game pass as a rental service. If I like the game, I will go buy it (eventually), and games that don’t have demos or aren’t on gamepass are often forgotten. We have more games than ever, which honestly means gamers can be way more discerning than before. I find that I am vetoing more games that I would have bought eagerly 10 years ago because I have too much to play to spend money on a game whose flaws or cons don’t outweigh the more enjoyable games in existence or my own library. I am at the point that I have so many games that I won’t finish them in my lifetime. So I no longer need to be a glutton for games that don’t entertain me or represent me.

If one of the myriad producers of games doesn’t make a market successful product, that is simply the free market (and perhaps lack of advertising) at work.

Eh. Game websites are a small sample size. The wider market will decide. This debate comes up every time there is a price hike and this observation remains unchanged.

@Sarxion A few reasons. It is an upgrade. Some people have been complaining about the hardware for switch and how it is an upper ceiling for games. (while I still say switch can last comfortably until 2026 and i still stand by that, the improvements are noticeable even on non upgrade versions. ) That lends to the twenty plus launch games, many that wouldn’t come out on switch but are now possible on switch 2. The launch games have a wide spread genre wise so there is something for everyone and people have many reasons to jump into those games (Nintendo only gamers means it’s their first time access to many titles, Nintendo preferred gamers means they had either waited for releases or will double dip, I am in this camp. First time gamers means these are new games, after all people are still buying GTAV). Which leads to the line up in general, Switch has games in the pipeline until at least 2026, and Switch 2 is getting its new solo announcements. Which leads to the main launch game Mario Kart World (which is great btw) and Mario Kart is both an evergreen and a system seller on its own. Which leads to BC, the majority of the switch library is playable on switch 2 which means someone that is trying to decide what to buy will buy the system that is future ready while having access to a cheaper library (that is being still added to) if needed. Which leads to the new features of the system. Virtual Game cards, Gamecube NSO, Gamechat are all draws for different people. And I haven’t included the brand faithful or the buying for social gaming crowds. Each of those reasons alone would contribute to sales. All of them applying to the same system makes sales a likely sure thing.

People game and buy for different reasons. The only uniting factor is that they happen to be buying the same product. Everyone’s motivation and experience is different.
