Polyarc, the studio behind PSVR classics Moss and its Book II sequel, has shut down as of today, 11th September 2026.
The developer's LinkedIn page broke the news, stating: "After nearly 12 years riding the joyous rollercoaster of emotions that is making video games, our time together has come to an end. As we wind down active development, we are saying our farewells to each other."
It added: "Working together over all of these years has been an honor. Bringing surprise and delight to those who played our games has been a privilege. Thank you to everyone at Polyarc, our work is now finished."
Founded in 2015, the Seattle-based Polyarc created Moss and its Book II follow-up, then released a standard version of the two games that you didn't need a PSVR2 headset to play. During that time, it also developed a live service spin-off of the series named Glassbreakers.
In March earlier this year, Polyarc underwent a round of mass layoffs after it failed to secure funding after a big project was cancelled. Now, the whole company has gone under.

This is sad. I thought those were quite good games for PSVR2.
People always calling for different genres of games but then always expect other people to buy them lol
Really sad to hear. The moss games were some of the PSVR's killer apps. I do hope the devs find a job soon because they were some of the best VR games I have played. Also, I love Quill, she's so adorable lol
@GamingGod Sadly I've been saying that since forever.

Sad to hear it
Very sad to hear. Moss was one of my favourite games last gen. And Moss II was excellent. I loved these guys.
Damn.
Yeah that's very sad. Hope these talented devs find work in VR game development elsewhere, although that could be really tough in this market.
It's a weird time for VR at the moment. Commercially it's not doing well but at the same time being a VR gamer has never been better with the recent onslaught of VR mods for flat games. Well on PCVR at least...
That's a shame.
How disappointing. I really enjoyed Moss in the PSVR infancy.
