@Sqush-Pare I think it’s not so much as mad as Sony as limited ressources and the more they put on PC the less they have on the console that people paid good money for… one can’t really argue that the PS5 output from Sony has been low and in the meantime it seems a lot of their announcement is around PC…
Unless the plan is to make it VR I don’t see the point, while I haven’t played Forbidden West yet the difference didn’t seem massive.
They should take a cue from Disney who are all updating their old cartoon with current tech and while it must make some money people hate it and got tired pretty quickly.
If they want to remaster things, I’d say nothing after the PS2 is worth it at this point (although I kind of want something related to Motorstorm I would much rather like it to be new).
@SuperPotato316 Aren’t the PS4 and PS5 neck to neck on the amount of unit sold after their respective first 18 months? That amount didn’t prevent them from making PS4 exclusive back then.
@Northern_munkey I think the lack of exclusive is what makes previous gen still relevant platform, for all I care the PS3 could still be a viable platform on the power side as the switch is showing. Software drives hardware sales no console as ever been a must get platform by itself without software justifying it…
Hum… i guess it’s sting more because it seems to me like these are the only news we get from Sony lately…
Beside God of war release date it seems only PC got announcement over the summer. Maybe if we’re lucky PSVR2 will be compatible with PS5 and not just PC 😏
Edit : Oh I forgot the last of us remake, I guess it’s kind of new… then again maybe they only wanted to announce it for PC and then they decided to include PS5…
More and more I wonder why the PS5, almost at the 2 year mark and only first party exclusive that come to mind are Ratchet and Clank, Returnal and Demon’s Soul and that list seems more likely to decrease over the next 6 months than going the other way around…
@SinfulDestroyer Can’t help myself but thinking the same and then I wonder why I even bought a PS5, then I realized that buying a PC would have been much more expensive…
So is there something to DLSS coming to PS5 at some point? Not necessarily for this game but it seems it would help widen the gap with the ps4/last gen…
@naruball yeah… Apple goal seems to only have original content so there’s that. Also I think the monthly price is about 1/3 of Netflix. While they don’t have much I can vouch for Ted Lasso, For All Mankind, Severance, Mythic Quest and Prehistoric Planet is quite well done too.
@suikoden Well it could give a chance for those other games to get the experience better, quite a few game aren’t on their best self on release so I guess I’m the only one to wait a bit before playing the new ones.
@NEStalgia I see your point but I think you might be overthinking it, I don’t see Netflix as decreasing the value of my PlayStation because it not made by them, on the contrary, not having access to Netflix on my PS5 would decrease my perceived value of the console…
Funny a lot of people see this like Microsoft getting exclusives…. I see it more like Microsoft doing a power move against Sony to allow Microsoft to put GamePass on PlayStation.
Sony can either go acquiring big studios / franchise or simply pay close to nothing and allow gamepass on PlayStation…
Im no expert but lately I find Sony to closer to Nintendo than Microsoft in the way they play their card.
So just like with the NSO expansion pack, I expect that I’ll find the cost too important for what it is at least at first.
My biggest hope here is that if they get to emulate PS3 then I’ll be able to play the game I already paid for without further cost. There’s a few games I bought digital on PS3 that I’ve been meaning to play but don’t want to buy the PS4 version of dust of the old PS3… I just like the new controllers better.
Weird year I would say, it was my first year of PS+ since the PS3. I bought 2 year worth of subscription at the end of February as the service seemed on fire with games that interest me (TomB Raider, Control and FFVII where all on my wish list although I missed tomb raider).
Then it when downhill and haven’t got a game that I was looking for until Hitman and overcooked in September. Following recommandation I also ended up playing A Plague Tale which was ok.
The worst part for me was that not even 45 days in I was already getting repeats from the PS Plus collection which was a bummer as it was like lost main event game… Hopefully not many more games from the PS Plus Collection in the future…
@ShogunRok While I get your concern, I think that in this case the framerate was an artistic choice.
The fact that the framerate target 24 from what I read elesewhere makes it just more convincing as being a movie as most are shot at 24fps.
I remember watching movie with added frame on a previous TV to make it 60fps, it just made the movie look weird like it was shot on a home camera… In this case the fact that it’s 24 only makes it seems more like a movie and blur the line between wether it’s a video or not. I think this was the main goal and not so much to make it a game.
I might end up picking a few… I’m interested in picking up ghost of Tsushima, ratchet and clank, miles morales and last of us 2.
My only hesitation is that all these game are likely to go much lower or be given on PS Plus in the future and since I’ve skip the PS4, I have plenty of cheap game to play….
So I guess the PS5 will end up being the equivalent of a proprietary less expensive gaming pc if the trend continue at this pace and games are getting released so close after ps5 launch…
I don’t really mind I wouldn’t have bought a PC, but I’m kind of sad is PS lose their identity as a console. To me console war was less about exclusive but more about pushing boundaries and having different vision… My fear is that when everything is more or less the same the push for innovation to differentiate yourself and innovate will be slower.
Can’t help but think new consoles are somewhat underpowered for what was led to believe. It seems to always be a compromised between the 4K, the 60fps and ray tracing… When I look at the box of my PS5 where it says 8K; 4K 120, can’t help but feel a little cheated as I don’t see it ever happening as even 4K 60 is rare and that’s before ray tracing.
Nonetheless I’m having a great time with the console just wish I didn’t have such high expectation after marketing.
@AndyParkin79 This! I have a couple of ps3 games that I always wonder if I plug back the ps3 to play or if I buy the mostly identical PS4 version. I ended up waiting and wishing that at some point I can play them on PS5….
Just took one month of EA play to try FIFA, downloaded a bunch of game including burnout but now it has a good sale. Anyway to buy it to own? It only says download to console but I would like to own it as I don’t plan on renewing EA Play.
@Durnford40 Dude you need to chill out. I have everything that you just named and that is why I had to skip the PS4. I’m fine with them releasing games for the PS4, all I’m saying is that as of now it just feels like having a PS4 Pro V2, but you also get a lot of crashes with the OS so there’s really few upside at the moment.
It was the first time ever I bought a console within 3 years of the release I was maybe just expecting to see more of the difference of a new generation in what will be likely 18 months of its release (assuming these game won’t release before April 22).
You know when you’re an adult and you can finally afford the things you wanted as a kid but never managed to get? Well this is this for me, it’s just not what I was hoping it to be for the time being. Sorry if that rubs you the wrong way.
Not necessarily lying as pushing the truth. I was lucky enough to get a PS5 back in March and honestly I’m a bit disappointed. I skipped the PS4 and getting a 5 seemed more logic than getting a 4 at this point. My view is that I would pay more than further down the line and deal with some oddities but I would be able to enjoy the new generation from the start. We’re now 3 months later and I have yet to play something else than PS4 games, ratchet will be my fist real ps5 game. The way I see it I get all the downside of an early adapter (potential hardware problem, higher price, bugs and inconvenience of the OS) but not the upside of enjoying anything really from the start as pretty much every game I care for the foreseeable future will be on PS4 too.
So if I want to play the first one which version should I get? There’s 4 version on the Canadian PSN Dying Light for 20$ Dying Light The Following Enhanced Edition 40$ Dying Light The Following Enhanced Edition - PlayStation Hits 25$ Dying Light Platinum Edition 34$ with Ps+ (135$ without)
@TheRedComet Funny, from my experience from my experience physical games from Nintendo hod their value way better than PS games... I'm the complete opposite of you...
I’m really hesitant to grab shadow of the colossus. What are the odds of it falling more for my triple dip? I still have about a third of the PS Plus Collection to go trough before needing it but at the same time it seems to be the lowest it gets (beside Ps Plus freebie) over the last 2 years…

They need more studios/bigger teams/exclusives and IP because with Bethesda Xbox will have a ton of project, Sony need fresh blood too, I really like naughty dog and company but at the end of the day while you make much deserved sequel, there’s no new thing to fallback on if momentum is lost on one of those franchise.
