Re: Soapbox: Why I Don't Hate The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Anymore

Oh just you wait. Wait till you are in those infernal skellige islands that all look identical and require outlandish travel time for next to nothing in return. Or when you have went through your 100th time of get a quest, find a monster, kill said monster and repeat wash and rinse. Wait until you see the SAME face on another villager for the 100th time. Yea, I want to like it but I just cant. I respect it for what is, but it is certainly not for me and definitely asks for to much of my time with to little in return and the same old tired fantasy stories get so old. Of ocurse, opinion and all.

@ShogunRok Seems like with the strategy style game play with the grid based combat the touch pad could have really been utilized in a cool way. Wish more developers would take advantage of it honestly.

Re: The Witcher 3 PS4 Patch 1.12 Is Out Now

@T7L3RB Probably games you have already played or considered. Fallout and Bloodborne for sure. If your into it Rockets League is always a blast. Dragon Quest Heroes was a pleasant surprise, along with Tearaway, though both are somewhat childish. If you want top notch FPS action with some rpg elements and a light sprinkling of strory, then the taken king can't be overlooked. For me personally though, this year was all about Bloodborne in the first half and fallout in the second half.

Re: Rumour: Shadow of the Beast Holds Back the Blood as PS4 Exclusive Is Delayed

RoosterCogburn

Alienation will NOT be ps plus filler any time soon. They have done their service in giving us resogun, quite possibly the best plus game for the ps4 to date. I think Sony sees great potential in them and will allow them to turn their profit before offering to put the game on plus for a lump sum. I could see HouseMarque turning into another one of the great Sony first party studios, if that is what they so choose.

Re: The Witcher 3 PS4 Patch 1.12 Is Out Now

RoosterCogburn

@Mega-Gazz No matter when you play Witcher, if you have already played bloodborne you will be let down. IMO the combat is just soooo wonky man, and next to the silky smooth combat of bloodborne, it is down right awful at times. Also, be ready for ALOT of repetition and a huge beatific world that feels barren and very much the same all over. It is a great game no doubt, but I could name four or five that were better this year IMO. I really believe that all the goodwill they garnered over their DRM practices and "being for the players" really helped sway the minds of voters for goty. Just my opinion of course.

Re: PS5 Could Launch as Early as 2019, Reckons Analyst

RoosterCogburn

@BAMozzy Agreed, although I do believe current success can lengthen a console generation. Case in point, the wildly successful ps2 carried on for nearly a year after the 360 released. IMO Sony was in no hurry, as their console was still doing really well. In some instances the commercial failure of a console can hasten the next gen, and vice versa.

Re: PS5 Could Launch as Early as 2019, Reckons Analyst

RoosterCogburn

@rjejr Seems like the controller will be the portable version of the NX, as the entire face is rumored to be a touch screen with analog sticks and triggers for good measure. I think Ninty realizes their bread and butter is in the handheld market at this point. So make a console that is competent and can keep up with the ps4 and X1 but that also comes with the most powerful handheld to date. The problem I see in this is the games and 3rd party developers especially. Will they be forced to make 2 versions of every game? Will the handheld component be strong enough to run the games exactly as the home unit? Doubtful. I really hope they have learned from their mistakes, I am just wary that they actually have.

Re: PS5 Could Launch as Early as 2019, Reckons Analyst

RoosterCogburn

@BAMozzy I agree cometely, and maybe didn't make myself quite clear enough. Many around the net are proposing that Microsoft will announce a new console within 2 years or so, thereby forcing Sony to do the same. Their reasoning behind this is Sony's large lead in console sales. I am simply saying I don't think this is true and predict 3 or more years until we get a new console. Probably 2020. Microsoft and Sony are both doing great and the One is outselling it's predecessor, no need for a reset yet imo.

Re: PS4 Exclusive Horizon: Zero Dawn Doesn't Place Importance on Map Size

RoosterCogburn

@swordofdestiny95 Now that is a game I haven't thought about in awhile, but is definitely on the radar. Makes sense they wouldn't include fast travel as they are going for 100% realism, which I think if done correctly could be awesome. I am actually pretty burned out on the fantasy genre but Kingdom Come looks be a medieval style game set in a realistic world. Any idea on a release date? I know it is a small studio so could be awhile I guess.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 100

RoosterCogburn

Loved that cleric beast battle, such impressive boss battles in bloodborne. Some of the best ever in gaming history IMO. For me it will be Fallout. Started a new playthrough and have already had so many different experiences, love it. Building up caps as we speak to get the overseers guardian. Such an OP weapon yet so much fun.

Re: PlayStation VR Will Cost You at Least $400 Says Research Group

RoosterCogburn

@thedevilsjester Sorry mate, thought you were coming off a little negative. Of course a lack of software and games is always a worry with new tech lile this. The one thing that really gives me hope is the rumors that it will very much compatible with the ps5, giving it long legs. I also hope that since it is for the ps4, a set console, that developers will be able to make quality experiences much easier and be more inclined to develop for it not needing to worry about multiple pc configurations lile the oculus. I am all in because I want to support it and Sony and want it to do well, plus it just looks to cool!

Re: PlayStation VR Will Cost You at Least $400 Says Research Group

RoosterCogburn

@thedevilsjester The option is there though, and that was my point. There isn't a question of if it will have netflix, it already will be able to and may have an advanced vr Netflix app in the future (we hope). It's there for people to use and alot of folks who stream Netflix aren't getting true HD anyway. I guess what I am saying is you seem to be very negative about all of them, and that is fine. Many of us here are excited and happy that they are trying these new pieces of tech and would rather stay positive. Plus making a statement like it may not even have Netflix is just patently false.

Re: PlayStation VR Will Cost You at Least $400 Says Research Group

RoosterCogburn

@Sunnyviji To be fair, Sony is refuting the price and even Amazon said it was incorrect. 800 seems a little outlandish and rumors are that it was a "joke" to stir up trouble and maybe force Sony's hand in releasing more info, especially with all the vr talk the last few days because of the oculus listing. Of course that could all be wrong and it could be 800, I'm all in either way, lol, but would rather it not be that much:)

Re: PlayStation VR Will Cost You at Least $400 Says Research Group

RoosterCogburn

@thedevilsjester Considering you can use it in theater mode to watch any movie or tv, why wouldn't you be able to use netflix? From the reports literally anything that is coming out of your PS4 can be viewed with the headset in theater mode. That doesn't mean it will have head tracking and all the cool tricks, just strictly as a viewer. I think that helps the appeal immensely.

Re: PS4 Owners Have Terribad Music Taste

RoosterCogburn

Was really happy when they added spotify, we use it almost daily. Works great with my sound bar and fallout running. Granted the most popular songs are not usually my cup of tea but I don't mind checking out what the youngins are listening to these days once in awhile.

Re: PlayStation VR Will Cost You at Least $400 Says Research Group

RoosterCogburn

I have tried all 3 major headsets and I have to say in terms of comfort and ease of use, it's psvr by far. Was able to see Eve Valkyrie on Rift and psvr and I literally couldn't tell the difference, though I was told by rift enthusiasts that there was a difference. The cool factor is definitely in psvrs favor as well. It comes down to target audience though and I don't think these two will really be competing for the same market.

Re: PlayStation VR Will Cost You at Least $400 Says Research Group

RoosterCogburn

@ShogunRok What is crazy to me is people all over the world are willing to spend many hundreds of dollars on a new phone every year and yet some still say that 400 will be to much for a device that should last you many years. In fact most of what I have read on the interwebs (lol) is stating that psvr will be fully compatible with the ps5. If that is the case and it will be easily attached to the ps5 then this thing could have a VERY long life. That makes a 400 dollar price tag not seem to bad IMO.
