Re: The Division Is Ubisoft's Fastest Selling Game of All Time

RoosterCogburn

@get2sammyb How do you feel about it so far Sammy? It looks like a game that would be right up my alley, just not sure if I am fully committed to the hundreds of hours of grind that will commence to fully experience it. Plus I generally loathe the way Ubisoft handles their mission structure in their games.

Re: The Division Is Ubisoft's Fastest Selling Game of All Time

RoosterCogburn

I was really on the hype train for this one, and then it just derailed for me at some point. Not sure if it was the protracted wait from the initial reveal or if I am still suffering from a Destiny hangover. It looks pretty cool, but something has turned me off to it. All the talk about No Man's Sky last week and the announcement of the release date, which is pretty close IMO, certainly didn't help the Divisions case. So if anyone here has put in some extended time into division, lemme know how it plays for you, I just might bite.

Re: Hooray, Star Ocean 5's English Voices Don't Sound Too Bad

RoosterCogburn

Not quite sold on this yet. I dig the art style (except for the faces) but with so many good jrpgs releasing this year I am not sure I will ever get around to it. Way off topic here, but does anyone know the launch window for FF15? Really hoping they don't launch this game around the same time as FF, it deserves a shot and probably won't get one of it releases to close to FF.

Re: Soapbox: Why Do We Treat Gaming Like a Chore?

RoosterCogburn

@ShogunRok This is exactly how I feel. I use gaming strictly for fun and relaxation. Once a game loses that feeling, I am done with it, and may or may not revisit it. As for trophies, I only hunt them in games I TRULY adore, which is probably less than 3 a year, and sometimes only one.

Re: Soapbox: Why Do We Treat Gaming Like a Chore?

RoosterCogburn

When I was younger I definitely felt like I had to finish a game before I started a new one. These days I have stopped that type of thinking. I only get an hour or two a day to game, if that, so I use it as time to wind down from work and relax. Whatever is most fun for me at that time is what I will play. Sometimes that means leaving a game half done to start a new game that released that is more appealing. Right now though that means that while I am playing I secretly wishing I had a copy of No Man's sky and am counting down the days!

Re: Hands On: PS4's No Man's Sky Is Gorgeous, Ginormous, and Potentially Great

RoosterCogburn

This game is garnering ALOT of attention, especially being over 4 months out still. Such a great idea for a game IMO and I think the visual aesthetic Hello Games chose is absolutely perfect for this. Almost looks like what Star Fox SHOULD look like, lol. Really liked the addition of the languages and how it can effect dialogue in different ways. Excited for this one, already have the limited edition pre-ordered. Only thing I am upset about is I can't get the ship figurine with the ps4 limited edition, but I am honestly most interested in the comics thay give extra background lore to the game. SWEET

Re: Talking Point: Would You Upgrade to a Supercharged PS4?

RoosterCogburn

@Dodoo Microsoft has this habit of throwing alot of things out there, telling us it is going to come, and then not really delivering. They went on and on about the cloud over two years, and still nothing. Big deal made out of the Hololens, and probably will amount to nothing. I think this whole upgradeable idea from Microsoft is pretty spin honestly. They are gauging the reaction from fans, bc in the long run I really think it will be all about Windows and pc for them. To further fragment their consumer base would be dreadful imo.

Re: No Man's Sky Will Carry An Intergalactic Entry Fee on PS4

RoosterCogburn

@rjejr Sorry about the misinterpretation there. I understand what you are saying and it makes sense, but I also think every now and then an INDY cess along that can't be categorized with its peers. Take Witness for example. It's a puzzle game, and it's 40 dollars. Many were outraged before it released that an INDY game would cost that mucj, especially only being a puzzler. After releasing most realized how great it was regardless of its indy status, and that it was definitely worth its asking price. Maybe NMS won't live up to its AAA price or our expectations, but it sure seems to be doing everything right thus far and it must be something special the way Sony has paraded it, and cradled it, along the way.

Re: No Man's Sky Will Carry An Intergalactic Entry Fee on PS4

RoosterCogburn

Honestly, I think we all should calm down on this price point. This isn't even offical, lol. Could have been wrong, since it was taken down. I will pay 60 if that's what it os, but alot of conclusions being jumped to here. I am of the opinion that the size and length of the game lends itself to a full priced AAA title. Small teams back in the day made tons of games that were full priced, and Noone bothered to complain then. Team size and development company size should not determine whether a game should be full priced or not. Quality, polish, depth, originality, visuals etc. should be what determines a price. If they think what they have ever created deserves that price tag, I am OK with it personally

Re: No Man's Sky Will Carry An Intergalactic Entry Fee on PS4

RoosterCogburn

@thedevilsjester I think they haven't shown alot for a simple reason. They don't want to spoil what they have and let leak to other devs what they are creating. Yes it is procedural, but this isn't your granddads procedural game. I know any are skeptical but I think it will really live up to the expectations it has garnered.

Re: No Man's Sky Will Carry An Intergalactic Entry Fee on PS4

RoosterCogburn

@Churchy Totally agrred, I think I would be gutted if it was only 20 bucks. Then I would know it is a smallish, simple game that can rightfully only charge a twenty. At 60, that tells me this has full production values and is a massive game. Someone said the visuals don't look AAA, I say they look BETTER then most AAA games these days. It's not all about realism imo.

Re: No Man's Sky Will Carry An Intergalactic Entry Fee on PS4

RoosterCogburn

@themcnoisy The price of new AAA es have stayed static for MANY years now, as long as I can remember it had been 60. If you are thinking of this as an INDY along the lines of Axiom Verge or something similar, your probably wrong. Sony reportedly stepped in to help with lroduction, server issues, publishing, funding, marketing and on and on. This is not your typical indy my friend, this the SUPPOSED price tag. It's not even official BTW.

Re: You Won't Be Reading Any The Division Reviews on Launch Day

RoosterCogburn

@Ewflex I also think that if you are expecting a good story to be included in what is essentially an online shooter, you will probably be dissatisfied. The focus will be on the shooting first and foremost, with story somewhere far behind, imo. I could have made this educated guess without seeing any videos on the game, knowing how big devs develop online shooters these days.

Re: You Won't Be Reading Any The Division Reviews on Launch Day

RoosterCogburn

@Ewflex IMO the MANY hours of YouTube videos of the game play and the two betas are plenty enough for me personally. I say sheep as a joke really, because people have become more and more reliant on supposed professional "gaming journalists" telling them what is good and what isnt. Take it as you will.

Re: Mass Effect Andromeda Will Enter PS4's Mass Relay Next Year

RoosterCogburn

I think Horizon will make it this year personally. I really want a Master Effect Trilogy remaster though. Never got to play the original as I was a ps3 owner and by the time the trilogy was released for ps3 I already had part 2 and 3 and couldn't be bothered with it. (Plus I hear it needs some SERIOUS updating)

Re: PS4 Continues to Smash Sales Records

RoosterCogburn

VERY impressive indeed! The ps4 is just a sexton piece of tech and has mass appeal for core gamers as well as younger gamers and casuals. IMO it represents how good consoles can be and how well they can cater to the customer.

Re: Japanese Sales Charts: Unimpressive Software Numbers Can't Stop PS4

RoosterCogburn

I think many will continue to make the transfer to mobile devices. The gaming landscape has changed drastically and many of these devs were left playing catch up due to not being able to adjust to the new trends in gaming. Unfortunately mobile gaming is low risk, with a chance for high reward. Oh how I hate it, imo it is the bane of the gaming hobby.

Re: No Man's Sky Will Carry An Intergalactic Entry Fee on PS4

RoosterCogburn

@JaxonH It's not really an INDY per say at this point though. Sony has stepped in to help with funding, production, and publishing if the internet can be believed. I think Sony realized early on how special this game could be, especially if they want it as an exclusive for their vr. I have payed sixty for games and gotten alot less, but you are right, it must be judged as a full fledged title and not given the cheap indy treatment.

Re: No Man's Sky Will Carry An Intergalactic Entry Fee on PS4

RoosterCogburn

@MikLSP Exactly, kids these days don't really know the history of video games. This project is quite obviously AAA quality and I don't think it really fits into an INDY or AAA or whatever label. I have extremely high hopes for this, and am happy that Sony stepped in to help with production etc. For what is on offer 60 seems very fair, especially considering games like Battlefront, Evolve, Titanfall, and The Order were all full priced and offered MUCH less. Get tired of the complaints about pricing honestly, especially when this is being made by a group of very passionate individuals that have dumped everything they have into its success. I will gladly pay 60.
