Re: PlayStation VR's Price and Release Date May Be Incoming

RoosterCogburn

I honestly think at 400 they wouldn't take a loss, obviously wouldn't be much profit there but I still think at 400 there may be a tad bit of meat on the bone. People forget that Sony is a well versed hardware manufacturer. Think of all the viewers they have produced, and cameras, and move controllers, they can use their already preexisting tech to create their psvr. It's not like they had to make every part of it from scratch. Much of it was existing tech just assembled in a new way. I think this will allow Sony to reach a good price point and still make a little off each unit.

Re: Weird PS4 RPG The Technomancer Is Starting to Grab Our Attention

RoosterCogburn

BBF was OK at best when it released, still got it bc at the time there was literally no fantasy style rpgs on the ps4. Could be cool if they polish it up and take their time. What is the name of that other space rpg looking game? Noooo not mass effect, it had something to do with machines and the setting showed a person in a futuristic looking underground tunnel of sorts with large strange machines to fight. I want to say it is being developed by the guys that did Metro, could be wrong on that though.

Re: PlayStation VR Will Dominate Space if Less Than $500, Says Pachter

RoosterCogburn

Even if it means they have to delay it 6 months or so, I believe they will do whatever it takes to get the price point right. I would say around 400 for the base kit, with more expensive bundles available with varying degrees of additional hardware/software.
Sony is fully aware what a 100 dollar price difference can do for you. They have certainly not forgotten the debacle of the ps3 release (being to high priced) and the overall good will of the ps4 release. Give the consumer a great, quality piece of tech that looks and feels good at a decent price and you got em.
The biggest thing for Sony though will be the sheer number of ps4s in homes already once the psvr releases. Oculus and Vive are fighting over a decidedly smaller pie when it comes to vr ready PCs in the wild and those with those PCs being willing to buy a kit instead of spending that money on further advancing their pc.

Re: Feature: Happy 4th Birthday, PlayStation Vita

RoosterCogburn

I could see myself getting ALOT of use out of the remote play in the house when the wifey wants the big boy TV for something else. This would only work for me if the controls transfer nicely and I'd the games withhold at least a decent margin of their graphical fidelity. I know, I know, graphics shouldn't matter, but growing up in the 80s updated graphics were everything! Still hold some of that vanity I suppose.

Re: Feature: Happy 4th Birthday, PlayStation Vita

RoosterCogburn

Still thinking of getting one just for the remote play capability with my ps4. Couple quick questions if someone doesn't mind answering them. When using remote you do have to be on the same network as the ps4 correct? I noticed someone said they used the remote play when travelling to play fallout 4, so I am assuming they had to take the ps4 with them as well?? Also, how good are the controls and how closely do the games match their original console versions when played through the vita? Also, should I try and find an original OLED version or just snag the newer one??

Re: Review: Far Cry Primal (PS4)

RoosterCogburn

Hmmm, figured an 8 at least, glad I didn't preorder now. Just picked up Divinity and Automatron will drop for Fallout soon enough. That should hd me over until the inevitable Division, which I am still not sold on. Why can't June just hurry up so I can start playing NMS??

Re: So, That Other VR Headset Will Cost You $800

RoosterCogburn

Well the fact that it is getting close to that mythical June date does give it some credence imo, although deep down I still believe they will push it back a little. From a business standpoint it makes sense to push it back if you can. For one, they get valuable time watching and studying how the market reacts to the other two higher priced devices. Second, it allows cost to come down, even if only a little, as components will undoubtedly get cheaper now that the kits have hit the market. The main reason though that I believe they may push it back is for game development. Their is really only one scenario where i see it releasing in June, that is if NMS is psvr ready by then. If NMS is ready then they have the killer app they would need to go ahead with the launch, especially if it comes packaged with it. Haven't read up on it much lately so I am not even sure if NMS is still rumored to be a possible psvr compatible title, but would be awesome if it was.

Re: So, That Other VR Headset Will Cost You $800

RoosterCogburn

Psvr will probably launch at a time when there are close to 50 million ps4s in the wild, and counting. Would be interesting to know for sure, but I kinda doubt there is even close to that many able PCs out there to run Oculus or vive properly, and they have to fight one another for that presumably much smaller pie.

Re: So, That Other VR Headset Will Cost You $800

RoosterCogburn

Yep, it is considered the premium version as it were. My question though, is how do they intend to turn a profit with this? How many PCs are capable of fully supporting this, and then out of those PCs, how many who own one will actually buy it. Seems like their consumer base is small, and even smaller since they are essentially targeting the same audience as Oculus. These two kits will be for the hardcore pc enthusiast I am afraid, and may end up losing their companies quite a bit in their early iterations. I have said it before and still hold firm to the belief that Sony is best positioned to introduce VR to the mainstream and away from the gaming pc enthusiast. By the time psvr launches there may be close to 50 million ps4s in the wild, and they will not have to worry with fighting for a a third of the consumer pie since they will not be targeting the same audience as the other two. I am sure they are great products, but if VR has a legitimate future in the mainstream gaming and entertainment sector, it will have to be Sony that ushers it in, imo.

Re: Er, Fallout 4 Won Game of the Year at the DICE Awards 2016

RoosterCogburn

@themcnoisy Good thing about opinions and all. And honestly, no, I don't recall any of the bugs you describe. I am also not actively looking for them to have reasons to not like a game and I didn't start the game with a preconceived notion that all Bethesda games are buggy, therefore tainting my view of this specific game. It's a great game and for me personally is MUCH MORE enjoyable than Witcher. The amount of varied character builds alone warrant many play throughs.

Re: Fallout 4 Has a Secret that No One Has Discovered Yet

RoosterCogburn

I believe it. On my second play through I was finding new things in the exact same areas that I explored in the first play through. Heck, I found most of my X-01 power armor in a random building in town that never appears on the map as a fast travel location. You go in, find a hidden terminal, master unlock, and then a secret elevator opens and takes you deep.underground for the x-01 armpr

Re: Feature: 5 Firmware Updates the PS4 Desperately Needs in 2016

RoosterCogburn

@JoeBlogs It has just become a hip complaint. Everything you do recently stays at the front of the list, and the ps4 UI is quite intuitive. Never once have I been bothered by not having folders. If I want to scroll through my earlier stuff, the library is very handy and just as fast and snappy to access as everything else.

Re: Review: Layers of Fear (PS4)

RoosterCogburn

Yea I will take a game created using UE4 any day over unity. Seems lazy almost at this point that they can't get it to behave properly on ps4 when almost every title made on nearly every other game engine runs better on ps4 than on X1. I digress, seems like this interactive media thing is really catching on as of late. I would be interested in seeing the demographics of who primarily buys "games" like this, and gone home, and fire watch. I am pretty certain that it hits a certain demographic more so than the COD demographic. Pretty cool that they are making "games" for all types of folks these days, and not only pandering to a certain group.

Re: Review: Gone Home (PS4)

RoosterCogburn

Would be awesome if we could get more Night Stalker type walking simulators. Really dug the edginess of that title back in the day. Yes, I know, I am showing my age here, but it was good, lol.

Re: Review: Gone Home (PS4)

RoosterCogburn

So a walking simulator gets another immaculate score on push square, who woulda thunk it? Lol, I kid. I label this as interactive media, and that doesn't take away from the greatness of the title, I just don't consider it a "game".

Re: Reaction: Why Sony Won't Deploy PS4 Exclusives on PC

RoosterCogburn

@Gamer83 I don't think anyone is upset that more people get to play it. What is upsetting is that they deceived gamers into believing they had to own an X1 to play the game. Some people already had a capable pc and purchased a X1 off the assumption they needed it to play QB, now they know they didn't have to spend that money to play it.

Re: Reaction: Why Sony Won't Deploy PS4 Exclusives on PC

RoosterCogburn

It's not that it is a bad thing for pc players to now be able to play the game. That is good. What is wrong is how Microsoft touted QB as one of their biggest exclusives since the inception of the x1. The game is using dx12 on pc, so they have obviously known for quite a while tat it would also be a pc release. Why hide this? Why let people believe that they had to own am X1 to play this game? One simple reason, to drive sales and mislead customers. I can never agree with corporations willingly deceiving their own user base. Also, someone needs to go over to Dualshockers and explain this to Nelva. The guy has literally lost it, exclaiming this is a non issue in all cases, even for those that were negatively effected.

Re: Reaction: Why Sony Won't Deploy PS4 Exclusives on PC

RoosterCogburn

As I speculated on this very site many months ago, Micro$oft is slowly but surely pushing it's windows dominance. The xbix brand as a whole has always cost Microsoft alot of money, some speculate that the xbix brand is operating at a loss if you incorporate all 3 consoles. Windows is their bread and butter and the phones, and tavlets, and xbox are just a means to get to windows. I guess I would be a little I'll if I bought an xbox because of an exclusive like Quantum Bream only to have it be announced as a pc title mere months before release. It comes across as a bit disingenuous, especially since they probably knew they were going to do this for some time and let people continue to believe that the only way to play Quantum was to buy an xbox1. All about the Benjamins baby!

Re: Yu Suzuki Wants to Evolve the QTE with Shenmue III on PS4

RoosterCogburn

@FullbringIchigo Well the future of the franchise has been in question before, and he probably thought he would never be able to finish it. I think he has a story to tell, and it requires more than what he can fit into this game. Hopefully enough fans help out to ensure the conclusion of the story.
