Sorry, PS3 Users, Netflix Is Dropping Support for Sony's 20-Year-Old Console Next Month 1

It's not often we get to report on PS3 news these days, but it seems Netflix hasn't forgotten about Sony's last-last-gen machine.

As seen on Reddit, if you boot up the Netflix app on PS3, it now says it'll "no longer be available on this device" from 2nd March, 2026.

The streaming service first came to PS3 via Blu-ray Disc in 2009, and a native app followed about a year later in the US. It was approaching 20 years of support on the console, which is pretty impressive.

It's always a shame to see services and features retire on ageing consoles, but it only makes sense as the number of people still using them grows smaller and smaller, especially now we're two generations down the line.

Sony attempted to shut down the PS Store on PS3 (and Vita) a while ago, and was forced to go back on that decision after public outcry to keep it alive.

It's still a pretty functional console, then; despite losing Netflix next month, the PS3 will at least remain the only console of its generation with a working digital store.

Are you still using Netflix on PS3? Tell us in the comments section below.
