Re: Final Fantasy 16 DLC Is Now an Option Being Considered by Square Enix

Nalodart

@KaijuKaiser exactly I agree, every game is repetitive but when people are aware and mention it it’s because the game loop is tiresome, Elden ring you you just press dodge and 3 attack buttons but has build variety to keep it fresh and makes you want to experiment, which was my point I made earlier.

So if they tweak the combat with stuff like the suggestions I made earlier and make it an actual rpg with deeper mechanics it would go a long way keeping it fresher.

The same combat can stay the same as it’s well done, just add more to it.

P.s to people complaining that, people say it’s not a final fantasy game.
Save yourself the annoyance, to THEM it doesn’t feel like final fantasy.
They are welcome to that opinion as much as you are to say it is a final fantasy game.

Final fantasy constantly changes and switches which similar elements and threads it keeps which is a blessing and a curse.
Because of this the draw back is depending on who you ask final fantasy can mean very different things.

To some it’s the themes and core settings, crystals eikons /summons/chocobos/Cid (lol)etc.

To other is the fact that final fantasy is an rpg, with parties and classes.

To others it could simply be turn based jrpgs

If the someone sides more with the later that won’t feel like a final fantasy game to them.

Are they wrong or their statements incorrect?
I don’t believe so, no more than the next person that feels it’s very final fantasy.

It feels like final fantasy to me, but I wouldn’t turn around and say someone is wrong if it doesn’t feel that way to them.

In a perfect world I'd make the Clive have a playable party but I know the game isn't designed so that being said...

I personally don't even want story (unless it's about giving Jill more to do other than Clive's love interest and support system after her mini arc was done)
So please for the love of shiva give the game RPG depth, make elements on the eikons actually matter when choosing eikons (give me a better reason to experiment other than "this looks cooler" with the exception of garuda really).

Make the world have material drops to enhance and tailor your accessories and weapons to a build more unique to the player like more crit and element affinity, and let accessories have more than one trait slot (for a price of course), so I can truly make Clive my own other than superficial tweaks.
Put them in hard side dungeons too to give me a reason to explore the world other than hunts.
They don't even need to be big (I don't need much) just a worth while reason to look around.

The combat is a great foundation but that's what it feels like a foundation, now build on it.

Hell bring in leviathan the lost if you want another lore eikon, add the water element too.
(But no more cutscenes in-between boss fights and no qtes too).

I'd rather a overhaul with deeper mechanics and more boss fights then extra story personally.

Final fantasy to me is a RPG first, and while the combat is fun there is definitely more SE and creative business unit 3 can do.

Because by the end I was just doing the same thing over and over, so when it came to final fantasy mode I was burnt out, I had no drive to do it all over again just remixed.

I'd actually buy the game back if they did this (I sold the game after a week 🤣)
And the score would definitely improve it would go from a 7.5 to a 8.5/9 depending of the improvement.

But if all the dlc is, is more hunts with the same battle mechanics and more extra story I'll most likely pass, I can't do the same stuff over and over mindlessly 🤣.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Final Fantasy 16?

Nalodart

I’ve come around on the game a bit at least.

As an action game it is a 9 but as a RPG game it is a 6

So as an action RPG it averages out to maybe a 7.5 out of 10

They really dropped the ball on the RPG depth and even though it's final fantasy in theme, this game lost SOME of the final fantasy magic, in terms of colourful ragtag team of party members, mini games, exploration/discovery and unique classes that made FF special.

Still a great action game (aside from the heavy reliance on QTE sequences) in its own right but as a Final Fantasy action rpg game it's all (action) style no (rpg) substance.

Re: Poll: What Do You Think of the Final Fantasy 16 PS5 Demo?

Nalodart

@Justin113 the first playthrough I had them on (didn’t realise they were on by default on the challenge demo)
But I played the demo a few times to try and fully grasp as much as I can from what it had to offer.
So less QTEs thankfully (still too many for my taste, they are not even hard so feel even more pointless).

After my 3rd playthrough the combat felt better once I took a eikeon away so I was only using 2 not 3 (switching between 3 I didn’t like).

So it was better but still not great for me, but I knew that going in the combat gave too may DMC 5 vibes.
Some parts feel good like parrying with Titan, some part feel bad like having the standard parry on the attack button or torgal and the items being bound to the same button(nothing more frustrating than thinking you are doing the torgal flourish at the end of your combo to find out you wasted a potion 😂), or no sprint etc.

And the rpg elements in this action rpg felt very shallow, as if you could replace exp/ability points with red orbs and the flow of the game generally wouldn’t change much.

But it’s not all bad like I mentioned before the characters, story and music and overall production values(aside from the level/world map structure)are 9-10 and set a new standard for ff games.

It’s just the act of playing the game I’m not a fan of really, it’s tolerable enough but if future ff games follow this type of DMC/rpg lite gameplay with no party members it will be a hard sell for me unless the story is as good as this one seems (which is a tall order)

Re: Poll: What Do You Think of the Final Fantasy 16 PS5 Demo?

Nalodart

It win me over enough to buy, the combat and the level structure really is still the low points but the story, characters and music did enough for me to push it over the line.
The combat definitely isn’t as bad as I feared and there is some satisfying parts for sure.
But too many qte’s and the interface is busy as hell.
(I think the dev certainly achieved their goal it does feels like a roller coaster, but at times almost feels on rails.)
Hopefully the next mainline game will bring back playable party members too🙏

Re: Poll: How Was Final Fantasy 16's State of Play Showcase?

Nalodart

I watched the gameplay parts of the video, and I’m still not sold I need to play the demo.

The combat really isn’t grabbing me (I’m not a DMC fan at all)
So I need to see how it feels first.
This game seems more like an action hack and slash game with rpg elements.
Which isn’t bad, but not what I’m looking for

I do like the people behind it though (the devs) so I hope it does well enough, although if all future ff games follow this blueprint I think I’ll move away from the mainline games.

Re: Vampire FPS Redfall Was in Development for PS5, But Was Canned After Xbox Buyout

Nalodart

@GrimReaper

Competition can breed innovation yes, but it’s your “good for everyone” comment I respectfully disagree with.

A Ps5 owner that wants to play redfall, how is this good for them?
It isn’t, they can shell out more money for a PC or an Xbox but if they don’t have that kind of money they are out of luck.

Therefore it’s not “good for everyone” it’s just good for some people (maybe even a lot of people but not everyone, exclusives never can be because someone will always be locked out)

Re: Some PS5 Fans Think This New Firmware Feature Is a Potential Spoiler

Nalodart

I want the option to turn it off, it’s not a feature I wanted.

Playing wo long and saw I’m a 3rd done, the first feeling I got was disappointment because now I’m thinking about the game length and wishing it was longer before the game even booted back up.

That should 100% be an optional feature, OR just make the game progress be something you actually have to select in order to see that would work too.

I mostly play rpg games so it’s not a welcome feature at all, urgh!

Re: Poll: How Do You Feel About Final Fantasy 16?

Nalodart

I like yoshi-p and the MOST of the big names behind this, and I’ll definitely play the demo
And I’m sure it will be successful.

But the DMC combat worries me, the lack of party members worries me (Clive isn’t appealing to me for some reason).

And the lack of optional dungeons worries me

I’m sure the story and music and presentation will be right up my street, but the gameplay ouch.

I hated dmc5 a lot.

Luckily I have ff7 rebirth so even if I don’t like this I have a ff game I’m looking forward to

Re: Preview: Final Fantasy 16 Is Shaping Up to Be a PS5 Game of the Year Contender

Nalodart

I just hope the lock on/ camera is better than DMC 5.

I literally stopped playing the game because controlling those felt so janky.
That is my only concern with this game ever since I read who was in charge of the combat.

I will definitely need to play the demo to see how I feel about it.
Everything else about it is a day one for me, but the combat is make or break

Re: Monster Hunter Rise (PS5) - A Fantastic Port of the Series' Best Outing

Nalodart

Loved world and genU, couldn’t get into this one.
Wasn’t a fan of the wire bugs really, and I think MH fatigue took hold, as most of the monsters are the same as world and genu.

The hubs were lovely though, the best even and some armour was good, although the female armour sets are not always on par with the male counterparts unfortunately

Re: Game of the Year: Best PS5, PS4 Developer of 2022

Nalodart

CDPR shouldn’t be on here for a port, and cleaning up their mess.
It’s good they did those things but to put them on the list for best developer and not Santa Monica is laughable 😂😂😂😂
(They didn’t even release a new title this year just two current gen upgrades)

Re: Game of the Year: Robert's Top 5 PS5, PS4 Games of 2022

Nalodart

This is certainly a list… 😅
I mean I enjoyed cyberpunk for what it was spent 70 hours in it, but I felt it was undercooked especially in some of the lesser side quests, but that world isn’t for me in general so whatever lol

I’m just waiting for a Witcher game where I can create my own Witcher 🙏

Re: Overwatch 2 (PS5) - More 2.0 Than a Full Sequel

Nalodart

Started playing it, trying to earn coins by doing weekly challenges and the game randomly reset the counters for a few, after checking Reddit this doesn’t seem to be isolated incident.
I put the game down not long after that…🫠

Re: Street Fighter 6 Confirms All 18 Characters at Launch with Super Stylish Opening Movie

Nalodart

I want quality over quantity, I’d take 18 well crafted characters over 30 half baked ones any day.
Plus the game seems to have a substantial single player effort and some new modes, so as long as the package feels complete and full I ain’t gonna whine about less characters especially when I will only use like 3 max 😂 (I feel if the leak didn’t happen people wouldn’t be moaning as much, which is why leaks are bad)
