Re: Feature: PS5 Price - Why Does It Cost So Much in 2026?

Member_the_game

I've just been out and bought a PS5 Pro, currently on sale for £639.99 in Smyth's and Argos.

Been seriously considering it for a while but today's news gave me the Push I needed before the prices sky rocket

I was half tempted to wait it out for a PS6 but I can't see that arriving any time soon and god only knows how much they will want to charge us for it when it does arrive

I'd love this to be released again somehow to be able to play it on modern consoles.

In fact I'm amazed that we haven't already seen a collection of all the old Simpsons games bundled together similar to the Ninja turtles Cowabunga collection.

Granted most of the old Simpsons games are terrible but I guarantee lots of people will have a lot of Nostalgia for them so there would be plenty of interest.

Re: Opinion: I Wonder if Xbox Helix Will Force Sony to Break Its PS6 Silence

Member_the_game

I was one of the people who fell into the category of being in no rush for a PS6 and happy to wait for at least another 3-4 years.

However.... the last week or so I've been seriously considering upgrading to a PS5 Pro (despite me insisting I never would lol)

My main reason for wanting to upgrade is to double my storage space and then there's all the reports I've been reading on the new PSSR update which definitely makes it sound more appealing.

On the flip side if we are likely to see a PS6 in roughly 18 months time I'd rather hold off on the Pro and just wait for a PS6.

Without confirmation of Sony's plans one way or the other though, I sort of feel stuck in limbo and not sure when to make my next move.

Don't worry I knew you were just kidding, as was I 🤣

But PC gaming does genuinely scare me, I bought myself a fairly high spec Samsung 4K gaming monitor to try to get the best out of my PS5. It cost me around £700 so more than the PS5 itself.

It was stressful enough tinkering with that to get the right settings so the thought of having to maintain and update my own PC gives me all kinds of anxiety that I just don't need in my life.

I have friends who are into it and they know what they're doing but it's just not for me haha

Re: Physical Game Sales Hit All-Time Low in the US

Member_the_game

I've gone from being 100% Physical to about 70/30 in favour of digital

It's mainly down to laziness and I put it down to my massive collection of PS Plus and PS extra games.

There's often times where I fancy playing a game but because it's on disc I just can't be bothered getting up to put the disc in so I'll play something that's already installed and ready to go lol

Re: Rumour: GTA 6 Pre-Orders Incoming as Game IDs Are Finally Added to PS5 Database

Member_the_game

I remember going to a midnight launch for GTA 4, no pre order, just get to the store around 10pm and wait in line.

The excitement that built up in those 2 hours watching the queue getting longer and longer knowing everyone was there for the same reason. It was a great atmosphere.

Unfortunately with modern digital downloads (as handy as they are) that excitement and situation can no longer be replicated

Re: Video: Silence as PSVR2 Turns Three Years Old - Is Sony's PS5 Headset Dead?

Member_the_game

Unfortunately it was dying as soon as they announced the original price.

I'm not suggesting that the tech inside doesn't justify it's cost but when you announce an accessory that's more expensive than the Console you need to play it on they were basically on a hiding to nothing.

Obviously there will be a small audience for it but at it's insane launch price it was never going to appeal to the masses

Re: For Some Reason, Sony Apparently Got Gran Turismo 7 Running on Switch 2

Member_the_game

I can't see it ever happening but it would be pretty cool if it did.

At this point because the games been out for so long , most playstation owners who want to play the game will have already bought it by now, especially given the fact that it was also available on PS4 so that more or less excludes people upgrading from PS4 to PS5 from needing buying it.

Releasing it on a rival platform at this stage of the games life would be a great way to sell a shed load more copies.

As the article suggests, if it can run on PS4 in theory there's no logical reason it couldn't run on Switch 2

@Bluemoon2008

I'm still not sure I completely agree with your logic, I think we'll just have to agree to disagree lol 😆

Although I guess with the FIFA (sorry EA Sports FC) thing, it's almost so popular that the majority of people who want to play it will have already bought it anyway, this inadvertently makes it a Niche product to give away on PS plus as it's only the people who probably weren't interested getting a new game.

Although in theory you could make the same argument for all games given away on PS plus in that whatever the game, if people really want it they will likely have already bought it lol

@Bluemoon2008

I mostly agree with everything you said however I do have to disagree about Golf being a "Niche" Sport

To me the word Niche means something really obscure that hardly anyone would be interested in.

Golf is an extremely popular game played literally all over the world.

You may not personally like golf and your well within your rights not too (no problem with that whatsoever), but no way in the world is Golf a niche sport

Re: All PS Plus Games Available Now

Member_the_game

This is actually very helpful / useful

Trying to browse the games on the console can sometimes be a complete mess and a minefield.

It's fine if you know what you're looking for because obviously you can search for the specific game you want but for general browsing it isn't great

Re: Sony Will Offset Soaring RAM Prices by Further Monetising PS5 Players

@LiamOliver

I keep telling myself I'll do the same but every time it expires or is due to expire they seem to have it on sale.

I'm not sure if it's a coincidence or just targeted marketing.

Mine expired at the end of January, my intention was to renew on just the basic Essential tier which was £59.99

It was offering a 35% discount on Premium at £77.99

So it's basically cost me an additional £18 to have premium for another year

Re: This Is How PS Plus Premium's Time Crisis Will Play with PS5, PS4's Gyro Controls

Member_the_game

I think it could work pretty well.

I've been playing Mario Galaxy 2 on my Switch 2 using the Pro Controller.

The point and click to collect and shoot star bits works in a similar way, having to press R1 to reset back to the centre of the screen.

It can be tricky trying to shoot and control Mario at the same time, but with time crisis the only thing you need to focus on is the actual shooting

Sounds very promising to me

Re: 6 More PS5, PS4 Games Will Be Removed from PS Plus Extra Next Month

Member_the_game

@Axelay71

The rental service cost next to nothing in comparison though and it's a great way to try games you wouldn't normally try.

To put the costs into perspective, just last week I bought a year's subscription of PS plus premium (on sale) for £78

The basic PS plus essential that's required for online play etc was £60.

So for an extra £18 (not per month but for the whole year) I've got access to play literally 100's and 100's of games

So what if I'll never own them... for £18 a year who really cares lol

Then at the end of the day, if I really like a particular game and want to keep it the option of buying is still there. 😊

Re: 6 More PS5, PS4 Games Will Be Removed from PS Plus Extra Next Month

Member_the_game

@Axelay71

The whole buying physical vs digital is a completely different discussion

As @naruball pointed out, PS extra is a rental service... people know what they're signing up for and whether the games are given to you physically or downloaded digitally, they still don't belong to you and can only be played for a limited time so in this particular instance it literally would make no difference

Re: Opinion: The Euphoric Reaction to PS6's Rumoured Delay Really Confuses Me

Member_the_game

I'm not sure celebrating is the right word but I'm definitely in no rush whatsoever for a PS6

And I say that as someone who always buys new consoles at launch.

The way I feel is that PS5 has literally only just gotten going, we've finally (just about) managed to shake off Cross gen PS4 releases Which I feel we're holding the games back slightly.

Let PS5 have it's time to fully shine

Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Extra, Premium Games for February 2026?

Member_the_game

@CaptD

Yes I seem to remember when ps plus sales have been reported on in the past Sony definitely seem to pick and choose who the sales are offered too.

The options available to me last night were, Essential for £59.99, Extra for £99.99 or Premium with a 35% discount at £77.99 .

There was no discount at all on Essential or Extra

Premium was working out £22 cheaper than Extra.

As you say it probably helps with their stats if they have people subscribed to the higher tiers but at that price I'd have been silly not to go for it.

Re: What Time Is PlayStation's State of Play for February 2026?

Member_the_game

Yeah I'll be watching live, I'll have a few cups of coffee this evening to try to keep me awake.

A 10pm start isn't a problem, it's staying awake for over an hour to watch it that can often be the issue lol

As always I'll try to keep an open mind... hope for the best and expect the worst.... that way it avoids disappointment

@LogicStrikesAgain

Haha maybe on here (so far) but on the official playstation UK Facebook page there's plenty of toxic comments as you'd expect 😂

As I said I'm generally quite positive about the games we get offered, there will usually be at least 1 that I'm interested in but this time there's just nothing that catches my eye.

That said if we all had the same taste in games these messages boards would be a boring place because everyone would just be universally agreeing with each other lol

Re: PS Plus Essential Games for February 2026 Announced

Member_the_game

I usually try to be positive about the Monthly Essential games, it does my head in when I see nothing but moaning in the comments section, but even i'm struggling this time.

1st time in a long time I won't even be bothering to add a single one of them to my library

Just not to my personal taste at all
