Re: Could the Next Xbox Get a Head Start on PS6?

Member_the_game

I think they need too, releasing their consoles at the same time as Playstation (give or take a few weeks) just hasn't worked for them these last few generations.

If they release on their time own a few years apart like Nintendo generally do then their new console will get more of the spot light and will be the latest piece of tech on its own instead of competing.

The way I see it, it's like having 5 children, obviously you love them all in their own way but you'll probably (secretly) have a favourite and least favourite.

If I we're to give you my order of preference it would be:

PS5
PS1
PS2
PS4
PS3

I guess I've listed them in the order that gave me the most enjoyment.

The PS5 is just a very good all rounder that does everything well

I think the PS3 was at a time in my life when I was out doing other things instead of gaming, also I had an Xbox 360 as well which I thought was the better console.

The one and only time I've preferred Xbox to PlayStation

I was lucky enough to be a day one adopter of the PS2. I still remember picking up my pre order from Electronics Boutique and proudly walking through town with it.

Thinking about it, it was probably the first console I actually bought with my own hard earned money.

Any consoles I had before that we're bought for me as either Christmas / Birthday's presents

I'm probably more excited for this than most games I can think of in the recent past.

Tony Hawks Pro Skater 1-4 (1&2) in particular were the highlight of my teenage gaming years

I never really took to the more open world style in Underground, American wasteland Project 8 etc.

For my money the Peak of Tony Hawks games were 1-4 Pro skater (Just my own personal opinion obviously)

Definitely couldn't back in January.

My existing subscription expired on 31st January, prior to that the only thing I could do was upgrade my Extra subscription to Premium....It was roughly about 35p to upgrade for the remaining 10 days

I had to wait for the subscription to expire before it would offer me a 12 month plan at the discounted price

Yeah as you say, it's not the end of the world, just annoying as I'd purposely timed it so that it always expired when the sale was on. These extra days will probably take me past the sale period.

It wouldn't be so bad if you could stack the subscription as people were suggesting last time but Sony seem to have put a stop to that.

The sale prices are either for new subscriptions or to upgrade from one tier to a higher one

Re: Free PS Plus Compensation for Recent PSN Downtime Is Being Issued Now

Just checked, mine's been added even though I wasn't affected by the outage (I was away that weekend)

I wish there was an option to opt out instead of it just automatically being added on, it's messed up my renewal dates now and I'll probably miss out on the January PS plus sale next year

I renewed my Subscription when it was 35% off so assuming there's a similar sale next year, these extra 5 days that I've been "gifted" will potentially cost me an extra £35 - £40 when / if I come to renew next time

Very excited (if it turns out to be real)

I did play 3&4 back in the day but I definitely sunk alot more time into 1&2.

I was slightly older by the time 3&4 released, so it was a time of my life where I was more interested in going out than playing video games.

They will almost feel like new games to me, I do remember playing and enjoying them but I can't really remember any specific level's, whereas 1&2 I did remember the majority of the levels

Re: Sony's Pricey PS5 Pro Is Now Being Outpaced by PS4 Pro Launch Aligned in the US

Member_the_game

PS4 Pro was only £50 more than the base model so it was very much affordable to anyone who wanted to treat themselves or just spend that little bit extra.

Assuming you only want the digital version, the PS5 Pro is more or less double the price of the standard PS5.

Once the diehards who simply have to have the latest tech regardless of cost have bought one, it's a hard sell to you're average consumer

Re: Reaction: The PS5 Discourse Around State of Plays Is Becoming Draining

I feel the same every time the Free monthly PS plus games get announced.

It doesn't matter how good the games are, even when it includes a AAA title or 2........ You can guarantee that the "no it's a crap selection" runs away with the poll.

People on here are either extremely entitled and difficult to please or they're just completely unrealistic in what they expect from the service

It's just draining reading constant negativity

Re: PS Plus Members Are Upgrading to Higher Tiers on PS5, PS4

Member_the_game

I've just upgraded to Premium as it was on sale (35% off) when my ps Extra subscription ran out at the end of January.

For the year it was only an additional £2 for Premium compared to Extra so it was a no brainer really

It was £77.99 one off payment for PS Premium which I didn't think was too bad

I'm struggling to work out whether you're agreeing with me or disagreeing.

Either way, in answer to your question.... I'd like to think that most serious gamers will have upgraded to PS5 by now.

It won't apply to everyone of course but I'd be willing to bet that an awful lot of Active PS4 users will likely be children who've been given it as a hand me down when Daddy bought a PS5.

As you say though, either way it's still a form of income for Sony so all good I guess

I can see the logic in what you're saying but I have to disagree with the bit about them not caring.

Of course they care .... is it good that people are still spending money on PS4 software? of course it is but would Sony prefer that money to be Spent on PS5 hardware and software if they could have it all their own way? I'm 100% certain they would.

I say this next bit in jest, so please don't take me too seriously but what you said reminds me of Microsoft trying to convince people that they're not bothered about selling Xbox consoles as long as they can sell Game Pass Subscriptions to people.

Here in the UK we definitely used to be able to buy the subscriptions via a code for example on Amazon or Shop to, or CD keys....... As you suggested you could buy the code and keep it to activate it whenever you were ready. The codes were often a lot cheaper than buying directly from the PSN

But Sony seems to have put a stop to all that now, you can only buy PSN store credit via 3rd party retailers now not a subscription.

If I want to buy an actual subscription, the only place I can do that is on the PSN.

If you can still do it the old way wherever you are then you are very lucky and I suggest you make the most of it whilst you still can lol.

The only loophole I can think of for us is that occasionally, Amazon for example will have a sale on where you could buy £100 PSN store credit for £75, you could then use that store credit towards your next subscription.

(Just for reference £100 is equivalent to roughly $125 at current exchange rates)

That was kind of my point though, for whatever reason it never allows me to stack my subscription.

For a bit of context, when the sale was on in January I was on PS Extra.... the only option available to me was to upgrade to PS Premium for the remainder of my subscription.

I had approximately 10 days left and with the discount I could upgrade for something like 33p.

I had to wait for the subscription to expire before it would let me buy a 12 months subscription at the discounted price.

I have now upgraded to Premium as it was only an extra £2 for the year so seemed almost silly not too.

Maybe now that I'm on Premium and I can't go up to a higher tier as such it might let me stack another year next time there's a sale on..... I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

But trust me I tried everything, other than being able to pay 33p to upgrade the last few remaining days it was impossible to do anything else

Re: Free PS Plus Extension for All Members Affected by PSN Outage

Member_the_game

@breakneck

I'm assuming your comment about "Relying" on a discount is aimed at me.

Let me assure you that in no way do I rely on a discount.... I have enough disposable income to pay for a years subscription at full price should I need too.

I just found it rather annoying that's all..... I'm sure if you gave the majority of sane people the option of paying the normal price of £120 for a years Premium subscription or paying £77 with a 35% discount they would almost certainly choose the discounted price.

Very much a 1st world problem of course but doesn't make it any less annoying if it effects you personally

Sorry but I found your comment to be unnecessarily patronising and insulting

I don't really play online much myself so the reason I pay for PS Plus (Premium) is purely for the games collections.

I do however agree with you that we shouldn't have to pay to play online.

Or at the very very least there should be some sort of PS Plus alternative option where you can pay a small amount for your online play subscription but you don't get the benefits of the free monthly games or extra Bells and whistles.

As I previously said, it's not something I would be interested in as I enjoy having the "Free" games collections but there definitely should be a cheaper "online play only" option for those that want it.
