Although I definitely did play 3&4 back when they released, I don't really remember that much about them, especially not the music.
My core memories are from 1&2, and not because they've already been remastered, but because I just sunk alot more hours into them.
Although it sounds like a few songs and various modes will be missing, they will still almost feel like new games to me as I just don't remember much about them..
I very much preferred the 2 minute timer type levels and it kinda lost its charm for me when the later games after 1-4 went to more of a free roam style.
My daughter is only interested in playing Roblox on her iPad..... she just can't get her head around playing with a controller in her hand and actually pressing buttons.
Occasionally she'll have a game of Mario Kart on the Switch but that's as adventurous as it gets
It kinda all rolls into one as far as I'm concerned
My point was that if you buy it at the right time (when it's on sale) it's actually very good value in my opinion (again assuming you don't just want the ability to play online)
It's got to a point now where I very rarely actually buy a new game because I've always got something to play (i subscribe to premium)
Regarding new games, unless it's something I really really (and I mean really) want to play... I tend to hold of because I'm sure one day it'll end up on PS plus in one form or another
This might sound like a strange analogy but hear me out.......
You buy yourself a really expensive designer pair of trainers (Forza Horizon).......You also get yourself a cheap imitation copy of those designer trainers (Motorfest)
The imitation ones still look and feel pretty good and to the untrained eye could possibly pass off as being the same thing.
However deep down inside you know their not real and you'll always prefer the proper designer pair because you know they're the real deal.
I'm aware that Motorfest isn't cheap and probably cost more or less the same lol, I'm just giving a silly comparison to a different scenario.
I'm probably in a minority here but I really disliked the open world style Underground games, I always preferred the 2 minute format of the first few Pro Skater games.
So I see this as a positive thing.
TBH I would have been happy either way as I'm just pleased to be getting some new Tony Hawks games, but yeah I definitely don't feel it's a bad thing
I think they need too, releasing their consoles at the same time as Playstation (give or take a few weeks) just hasn't worked for them these last few generations.
If they release on their time own a few years apart like Nintendo generally do then their new console will get more of the spot light and will be the latest piece of tech on its own instead of competing.
The way I see it, it's like having 5 children, obviously you love them all in their own way but you'll probably (secretly) have a favourite and least favourite.
If I we're to give you my order of preference it would be:
PS5
PS1
PS2
PS4
PS3
I guess I've listed them in the order that gave me the most enjoyment.
The PS5 is just a very good all rounder that does everything well
I think the PS3 was at a time in my life when I was out doing other things instead of gaming, also I had an Xbox 360 as well which I thought was the better console.
The one and only time I've preferred Xbox to PlayStation
I was lucky enough to be a day one adopter of the PS2. I still remember picking up my pre order from Electronics Boutique and proudly walking through town with it.
Thinking about it, it was probably the first console I actually bought with my own hard earned money.
Any consoles I had before that we're bought for me as either Christmas / Birthday's presents
My existing subscription expired on 31st January, prior to that the only thing I could do was upgrade my Extra subscription to Premium....It was roughly about 35p to upgrade for the remaining 10 days
I had to wait for the subscription to expire before it would offer me a 12 month plan at the discounted price
Yeah as you say, it's not the end of the world, just annoying as I'd purposely timed it so that it always expired when the sale was on. These extra days will probably take me past the sale period.
It wouldn't be so bad if you could stack the subscription as people were suggesting last time but Sony seem to have put a stop to that.
The sale prices are either for new subscriptions or to upgrade from one tier to a higher one
Just checked, mine's been added even though I wasn't affected by the outage (I was away that weekend)
I wish there was an option to opt out instead of it just automatically being added on, it's messed up my renewal dates now and I'll probably miss out on the January PS plus sale next year
I renewed my Subscription when it was 35% off so assuming there's a similar sale next year, these extra 5 days that I've been "gifted" will potentially cost me an extra £35 - £40 when / if I come to renew next time
I did play 3&4 back in the day but I definitely sunk alot more time into 1&2.
I was slightly older by the time 3&4 released, so it was a time of my life where I was more interested in going out than playing video games.
They will almost feel like new games to me, I do remember playing and enjoying them but I can't really remember any specific level's, whereas 1&2 I did remember the majority of the levels
PS4 Pro was only £50 more than the base model so it was very much affordable to anyone who wanted to treat themselves or just spend that little bit extra.
Assuming you only want the digital version, the PS5 Pro is more or less double the price of the standard PS5.
Once the diehards who simply have to have the latest tech regardless of cost have bought one, it's a hard sell to you're average consumer
I feel the same every time the Free monthly PS plus games get announced.
It doesn't matter how good the games are, even when it includes a AAA title or 2........ You can guarantee that the "no it's a crap selection" runs away with the poll.
People on here are either extremely entitled and difficult to please or they're just completely unrealistic in what they expect from the service
I'm struggling to work out whether you're agreeing with me or disagreeing.
Either way, in answer to your question.... I'd like to think that most serious gamers will have upgraded to PS5 by now.
It won't apply to everyone of course but I'd be willing to bet that an awful lot of Active PS4 users will likely be children who've been given it as a hand me down when Daddy bought a PS5.
As you say though, either way it's still a form of income for Sony so all good I guess
I can see the logic in what you're saying but I have to disagree with the bit about them not caring.
Of course they care .... is it good that people are still spending money on PS4 software? of course it is but would Sony prefer that money to be Spent on PS5 hardware and software if they could have it all their own way? I'm 100% certain they would.
I say this next bit in jest, so please don't take me too seriously but what you said reminds me of Microsoft trying to convince people that they're not bothered about selling Xbox consoles as long as they can sell Game Pass Subscriptions to people.

For its price it's definitely worth a go.
I didn't realise it was already available on PS5.... this article is refering to the PS4 release

For anyone that used to enjoy Sensible Soccer back in the day, Sociable Soccer 25 is well worth picking up, especially for it's relatively low price.
I have Sociable Soccer 24 on my Switch, took me about 7 or 8 games to get the hang of it but once I mastered it I couldn't put it down.
I'm sure I read somewhere that if you already own the 2024 version you get a free upgrade to 2025
edit, I knew I'd seen it somewhere ------- https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2025/03/own-sociable-soccer-24-youll-be-able-to-upgrade-to-the-new-game-for-free#:~:text=Now%2C%20the%20good%20news%20is,features%22%20from%20the%20upcoming%20title

It makes sense, if they don't want the hassle, let another studio work their magic on them
Re: PS Plus Essential Is Quietly Having a Great Year on PS5, PS4
@trev666
I think it all depends on what you're looking for or expecting from the service.
If you simply want the ability to play online, then yes I do agree it's not great value considering it used to be free.
However I personally don't play online, well..... you could probably count on 1 hand the amount of times I have since getting my PS5 in 2020 anyway.
I look on it more of a games rental service.
I bought PS Premium for just under £78 when it was on sale and I'm never short of anything to play.
If you break the £78 down it works out around £6.50 a month which I genuinely think is amazing value for what we get
Re: PS Plus Essential Is Quietly Having a Great Year on PS5, PS4

Re: Don't Worry, Forza Horizon 5 Won't Require All 165 Trophies for the Platinum on PS5
@Americansamurai1
I'm assuming you're refering to Burnout Paradise
I recently bought Burnout Paradise as it was on sale for under £3.
To put it politely, I played for about 15 minutes and uninstalled it.
I've been completely spoilt by Forza Horizon and there is simply no comparison. Forza stands head and shoulders above it.
For an arcade open world racer nothing come close to Forza Horizon in my opinion

Re: April Could Be a Colossal Month from Xbox on PS5
Only really interested in Forza Horizon 5, I've already traded in my copy of The Crew Motorfest as it will be completely redundant now.
Motorfest was a decent game but just didn't quite hit the same as Forza

Haha yeah I know what you mean, that awful fear of being mugged.
On the flip side though waiting in for something to be delivered can be just as agonising.
My next purchase will be a Nintendo Switch 2, ideally I'll pre order it from Smyths meaning I can collect it myself and park right outside the door

Re: Blurred Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 Art Leaks Ahead of Reveal
I'm probably more excited for this than most games I can think of in the recent past.
Tony Hawks Pro Skater 1-4 (1&2) in particular were the highlight of my teenage gaming years
I never really took to the more open world style in Underground, American wasteland Project 8 etc.
For my money the Peak of Tony Hawks games were 1-4 Pro skater (Just my own personal opinion obviously)

I'm pretty sure you can Race in vehicles in Mario Kart that go "Vroom Vroom"
Shall we start comparing that to GT7 as well?
Re: Xbox's Forza Horizon 5 Snatches April Release Date on PS5, Priced at $60
@EfYI
Forza Horizon and GT7 are completely different games. Forza Horizon is an open world arcade style racer.
If it were Forza Motorsport that was being released then you're statement would possibly be more relevant

Didn't realise it was only available in the USA.

I hope you're right (about the Multiplatform bit) and in fairness you probably are.
But I just have this niggling feeling they might make it a timed exclusive now that they own Activision
Re: New Tony Hawk's Pro Skater Reveal Teased for 4th March
I hope it's not Xbox Exclusive
I know like most games it would come to PlayStation eventually but this is something Id really want to play day 1
Re: Rumour: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 Will Launch on PS5 During Xbox's Summer Showcase

However if this turns out to be true I will first in line to buy it

Re: PS Plus Members Are Upgrading to Higher Tiers on PS5, PS4
I've just upgraded to Premium as it was on sale (35% off) when my ps Extra subscription ran out at the end of January.
For the year it was only an additional £2 for Premium compared to Extra so it was a no brainer really
It was £77.99 one off payment for PS Premium which I didn't think was too bad

Re: Consoles Are Alive and Well As PS5 Hits Over 75 Million Units Shipped Worldwide
They'd have probably sold even more if they stopped releasing cross gen games alot sooner
There will be plenty of people who think to themselves "why bother buying a PS5 when I can still play most of the games I want to on my PS4"
