Re: The Last of Us 2 Began Life as Open World Melee Epic Heavily Inspired by Bloodborne

KilloWertz

I'm not even sure why they were considering that route. I understand trying something different, but that would have been way too extreme of a departure from the formula. The downtown Seattle part was great, but it was also still very much The Last of Us.

Just keep it like Part 2 in terms of gameplay for Part 3 and it will be golden. I hated how the story progressed, but the gameplay itself was amongst the best I played all last generation.

Re: Rumour: Even More Xbox Exclusives Coming to PS5 Than Already Reported

KilloWertz

If they aren't even going to keep their own exclusives on their own platform/service exclusively, then what's the point? I know some people will say that it shouldn't matter and it's all console war crap, but to make their fans wait all of these years for good exclusives and then have them be multiplatform in the end anyways kind of stinks for them.

Re: Poll: How Would You Rate the Latest State of Play Showcase?

KilloWertz

I thought it was good, but still a bit disappointing considering almost everything that was shown we already knew about. Obviously it's good that we got dates for Rise of the Ronin and Stellar Blade, but it would have been nice to get something from actual 1st party that we didn't already know about.

Also a bit disappointing that Ronin is releasing a month after Rebirth, as I know there's no way I'll finish Rebirth in time, so I'll have to pass for the time being. Given the complete lack of anything coming after Stellar Blade so far, I'm not sure why they are having one big release a month.

Overall, it was their best State of Play in a while (the bar was extremely low), but I just can't bring myself to say it was amazing or anything. Basically anything major we already knew was going to be there. A date for Stellar Blade keeps it from being bad alone, but the last nugget (other than the FF7 Rebirth SoP that I will be skipping) being that Kojima is making an exclusive spiritual successor to MGS was met with a shrug by me as it won't be out until the PS6. Great for at least 6 years from now, but again, that's did little for me now.

Re: Talking Point: What Can We Expect in the Next State of Play Show?

KilloWertz

I'm happy we're getting extended looks at Stellar Blade and Rise of the Ronin (especially the former), but hopefully we at least get something that we didn't already know about (and not just some throwaway game).

I'll still be happier with this show than most of PlayStation's of late even if most of the best games are ones we already knew about, but sadly that's still an improvement over what they've done over the last year or so.

Re: Deus Ex Game Reportedly Cancelled, Almost 100 Devs Laid Off

KilloWertz

They should have never bought all of these studios and IPs if they had no intention of keeping everything as is. Other than layoffs of course since almost everybody is doing it and it would have likely happened anyways.

I've never played a Deus Ex game, but obviously people were looking forward to this. In the end, it still sucks that this is happening as it could happen to more of the things they acquired. Luckily Tomb Raider got picked up by Amazon.

Re: State of Play Announced, Covering More Than 15 PS5, PSVR2 Games

KilloWertz

I'm already interested with an extended look of Stellar Blade being announced as part of it. It was annoyingly absent from everything last year, so it's nice to see that.

On the fence with Rise of the Ronin at the moment as I don't like Souls-like games, but knowing this is going to be made more accessible than other Team Ninja games has me interested in seeing how it turns out at least.

Hopefully the rest of the games aren't just second or third party titles though and we actually get something that we didn't know about already from PlayStation themselves. At the very least, I know it won't be a total bust for me like a lot of their shows over the last year or so.

Re: Until Dawn Reportedly Set to Receive New PS5, PC Versions

KilloWertz

Sure, a fresh coat of paint could make it look even better than it already does, but there comes a time when enough is enough with remasters and such. This was a great game, but I still have my PS4 disc. How about more new games than a semi-steady barrage remasters for this gen?

Re: Game of the Year: #1 - Marvel's Spider-Man 2

KilloWertz

@PALversusNTSC
The whole game was basically about the group trying to make the world the best they could for their people, eventually by destroying the crystals. They come up with a plan to try to defeat the main bad guy and discuss multiple times about how they would hope for the best in regards to how the world will be for their people after Clive and his brother hopefully succeeded. Not once did Clive ever give the impression that sacrificing himself and not coming back to Jill as promised was ever remotely part of the plan, but while up there during battle he magically decides to do so to give the game an emotional ending where the main character sacrifices himself for something far beyond their plan.
Honestly, I would have much preferred the game ended the way their plan suggested it would. They still win and they all (outside of Joshua) live happily ever after and make the best of the world they live in after the battle. Nope, the hero has to sacrifice himself for an outcome far overreaching what they were supposed to do just so it can have an emotionally sad ending.

Re: Game of the Year: #1 - Marvel's Spider-Man 2

KilloWertz

If I had managed to play Baldur's Gate 3 (something I'm considering remedying this year at some point), maybe things would have been different for me, but I can't exactly argue with the choice as it would probably be my current GotY out of what I have played. Either that or Resident Evil 4 after Separate Ways elevated the game for me.

Final Fantasy XVI would have been that, but the ending absolutely killed the game for me. Phantom Liberty would probably be my content of the year, but I'm trying to be "fair" and only consider full games.

Has a Spider-Man game had the same impact on me that the first one did on PS4 years ago? No, but Spider-Man 2 was still a game I happily played from start to finish. I do hope Spider-Man 3 elevates things though. In the end, I could care less what won GotY here.

Re: Game of the Year: Best PS5, PS4 DLC of 2023

KilloWertz

It has been a pretty incredible year for not just games in general, but DLC too. It would have been good if we had gotten just one of these in a year, but Separate Ways, Burning Shores, and Phantom Liberty are all fantastic (never played Dreams).

I just started Phantom Liberty today, but I have little doubt I will love it and it will be my #1 as well. Absolutely loved Separate Ways. In a way, I think I actually enjoyed that more than the main game. As a huge Horizon fan, obviously I loved Burning Shores as well. I have an issue with the relationship in the game, but not the usual internet hate of it. I just thought it was poorly handled and severely rushed, but I still thought it was great DLC.

Re: PS Plus Essential Games for January 2024 Announced

KilloWertz

A rare month where I will gladly claim all 3 games (I only claim it if I think I will actually play it).

I'm glad I waited on Requiem. I know it's been "free" on Game Pass this whole time, but I waited and played Innocence until the PS5 version came out and was glad I did. The DualSense features were great on that game, and I fully expect to feel the same about the sequel.

Re: GTA 6 Hacker Ruled a High Risk to the Public, Sentenced to Life in Hospital

KilloWertz

@J2theEzzo Autism is not an excuse for doing criminal acts, especially when you're in police custody. If this was his first time, I understand being lenient, but he's done this countless times and at this point shows clear evidence of having no interest in stopping.

I say what he is getting is perfectly reasonable and deserved. There's a limit to how much the sympathy card can be used. It's clear he needs help, and whatever was going on prior to him being sentenced clearly wasn't working, so maybe he can finally get it and finally stop. Or at least getting a job someday to put his obvious skills to good use.

Re: GTA 6 Hacker Ruled a High Risk to the Public, Sentenced to Life in Hospital

KilloWertz

It shouldn't matter how old he is or if he has something wrong with him. He's done it several times now and he clearly hasn't learned. It doesn't matter if it's to big corporations or not, the punishment should be harsh. It's still a crime, and a crime he clearly doesn't want to stop doing.

It's mildly amusing that people think this is ridiculous. Maybe you'd feel differently if some of that information he hacked would include your personal information or if you worked for any of the companies that got hacked.
