While it would be welcomed, it's also funny that it would absolutely blow away their absurdly priced DualSense Edge controller in battery life if true. Probably for half the price too.
I'm good. It was a good episode, but like others have said, it told the story. Yes, obviously scenes and such could be fleshed out, but we still got the gist of all of it.
I wonder if they'll be able to "capture all of the unique pageantry of college football" by having 80% of the players enter the transfer portal and sit out their bowl games every season in Franchise mode...
After wrapping up my 2nd playthrough last weekend, I started up Phantom Liberty that same weekend and I've been loving it so far. Not that I didn't expect to anyways, but it's been great and I expect that to continue for the duration.
Glad to see it's really successful so far. I'm late to the party even though I had Phantom Liberty pre-ordered because I wanted to replay the whole game again before playing it, but I started the expansion last weekend and I'm loving it so far.
@PALversusNTSC The whole game was basically about the group trying to make the world the best they could for their people, eventually by destroying the crystals. They come up with a plan to try to defeat the main bad guy and discuss multiple times about how they would hope for the best in regards to how the world will be for their people after Clive and his brother hopefully succeeded. Not once did Clive ever give the impression that sacrificing himself and not coming back to Jill as promised was ever remotely part of the plan, but while up there during battle he magically decides to do so to give the game an emotional ending where the main character sacrifices himself for something far beyond their plan.
Honestly, I would have much preferred the game ended the way their plan suggested it would. They still win and they all (outside of Joshua) live happily ever after and make the best of the world they live in after the battle. Nope, the hero has to sacrifice himself for an outcome far overreaching what they were supposed to do just so it can have an emotionally sad ending.
If I had managed to play Baldur's Gate 3 (something I'm considering remedying this year at some point), maybe things would have been different for me, but I can't exactly argue with the choice as it would probably be my current GotY out of what I have played. Either that or Resident Evil 4 after Separate Ways elevated the game for me.
Final Fantasy XVI would have been that, but the ending absolutely killed the game for me. Phantom Liberty would probably be my content of the year, but I'm trying to be "fair" and only consider full games.
Has a Spider-Man game had the same impact on me that the first one did on PS4 years ago? No, but Spider-Man 2 was still a game I happily played from start to finish. I do hope Spider-Man 3 elevates things though. In the end, I could care less what won GotY here.
I had to vote Very Happy since I plan on claiming all 3 of the games, which is a rare thing for me. 19% saying Crap Selection either already own the games or just come in here every month and vote that.
It has been a pretty incredible year for not just games in general, but DLC too. It would have been good if we had gotten just one of these in a year, but Separate Ways, Burning Shores, and Phantom Liberty are all fantastic (never played Dreams).
I just started Phantom Liberty today, but I have little doubt I will love it and it will be my #1 as well. Absolutely loved Separate Ways. In a way, I think I actually enjoyed that more than the main game. As a huge Horizon fan, obviously I loved Burning Shores as well. I have an issue with the relationship in the game, but not the usual internet hate of it. I just thought it was poorly handled and severely rushed, but I still thought it was great DLC.
About to roll the credits on my second playthrough of the main game. Ran out of time last night and had to save it during the ending. After that I'll start up Phantom Liberty. Been looking forward to that for a while now.
A rare month where I will gladly claim all 3 games (I only claim it if I think I will actually play it).
I'm glad I waited on Requiem. I know it's been "free" on Game Pass this whole time, but I waited and played Innocence until the PS5 version came out and was glad I did. The DualSense features were great on that game, and I fully expect to feel the same about the sequel.
@J2theEzzo I get what you're saying, but at least for now I think the very harsh punishment is fair. You say he needs help and he can get it there. I do believe that eventually having him work for their government or something of the sort is a good solution at some point once he's deemed ready.
@J2theEzzo Autism is not an excuse for doing criminal acts, especially when you're in police custody. If this was his first time, I understand being lenient, but he's done this countless times and at this point shows clear evidence of having no interest in stopping.
I say what he is getting is perfectly reasonable and deserved. There's a limit to how much the sympathy card can be used. It's clear he needs help, and whatever was going on prior to him being sentenced clearly wasn't working, so maybe he can finally get it and finally stop. Or at least getting a job someday to put his obvious skills to good use.
It shouldn't matter how old he is or if he has something wrong with him. He's done it several times now and he clearly hasn't learned. It doesn't matter if it's to big corporations or not, the punishment should be harsh. It's still a crime, and a crime he clearly doesn't want to stop doing.
It's mildly amusing that people think this is ridiculous. Maybe you'd feel differently if some of that information he hacked would include your personal information or if you worked for any of the companies that got hacked.
Oh, my bad for criticizing ND remastering The Last of Us Part II. Expanding the guitar minigame makes it all worthwhile. Take whatever money you want from me now, Sony...
Works for me. As highly anticipated as the game is for me, I'm perfectly fine with sinking roughly 100 hours into it. Horizon Forbidden West was another very highly anticipated game for me and it was even longer. If it's a game I love, then it doesn't really matter how long it is.
@evildave333 That is indeed one reason. I only have so much time to play nowadays, unlike back in the day when I could play for hours a day. There's no way I'm going to spend the time I do get and have it end up being wasted because I couldn't ever beat a certain boss/character or had to start over again after a death. Knowing the frustration would ruin any enjoyment would be the other like I already mentioned.
It seems like this game at least remedies that by having a Narrative difficulty setting that was strangely not mentioned in the Game Informer article or here.
The news today about the game makes no sense to an extent. There's a quote out there from a recent interview about difficulty options in Rise of the Ronin, where the easiest one makes it more of a traditional game and not much of a Soulslike game. Then the interview for the preview from Game Informer has a quote saying it's still the same as previous games.
I guess the difficulty options is true and and it's only like the previous games if you play it on anything but Narrative. I hate Soulslike games and others of the sort as I don't find them fun at all, so if it all works out and Narrative difficulty is a normal game experience, then this went from an easy pass no matter how good it ended up to now being on my radar.
No interest in roguelikes, so I guess I'll have to miss the "valuable narrative" of the DLC. I'm not going to play through something I know I won't enjoy just to get extra story. It should have just been normal DLC if there was something worthwhile still to tell rather than locking it into a playstyle some people won't enjoy.
I've been at my second playthrough of the game for about a month now and I see it going on for quite some time. I'm ok with that since it's one of my favorite games of this console generation.
@Shepherd_Tallon Having two new single player games in the works is good news indeed, but my problem remains with what they are saying. I think it's a load of BS that they would have had to somehow ditch making any single player games at all just because of the new Factions. There's no way a studio that should be large like them could only handle one game at a time, no matter what kind of game it is.
@AlexPorto Because they basically said exactly that. They would have had to scrap making single player games if Factions didn't get cancelled, which like I just said above has to be a load of BS. There's no way a studio like Naughty Dog couldn't maintain and make new content for that while also making a single player game.
@2here2there @Shepherd_Tallon I don't really mean to be negative, but Insomniac has been carrying the PS5 so far while Naughty Dog has released nothing but remasters and a "remake". Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Miles Morales, Spider-Man 2, and Spider-Man Remastered. Wolverine may be out before Naughty Dog releases anything new.
As I commented for the article about the multiplayer game being cancelled, I'm still not sure how the hell a studio that should be big like Naughty Dog would be restricted to developing and maintaining a multiplayer game to the extent that they couldn't make a single player game too. It makes no sense given how Insomniac can obviously make several games at a time.
How is it possible that a studio that should be big considering how successful their games have been would only be able to make and support one game? That part makes no sense, especially since Insomniac and others can make multiple games at one time.
The PS4 would have been 4th otherwise, as other sites have reported it at #4 (likely ignoring the Portal as an accessory), so this is not that much of an accomplishment. Beating out a 10 year old console definitely at least earns it a virtual cookie.
Now, I won't be as negative as some. I'm sure it really did sell fine since it's totally sold out, but I would say to celebrate the fact that it was #4 is a bit much given the fact that the #4 spot is virtually empty otherwise since the PS4 only sold just short of 6,000 units.
It's a combination of it being digital only and having a horrid release date, coming out just after a few heavy hitters. I'd consider the latter being a far bigger reason for the lack of sales so far. There would have been a lot of people who would have passed on it because they were already playing something else, or at least wouldn't buy multiple games in a week's time.
If the 850k estimate is close to being true, then that's not so bad anyways. No, that's not Spider-Man 2 or Mario numbers, but that would put it in position to beat out Control. Word of mouth and such should help it over time, so I wouldn't be worried about it being a total bomb.
I won't be buying it anytime soon since it's a digital only release, but I also wouldn't have bought it yet anyways given what has come out lately and what will in early 2024. Also, I highly doubt the lack of a physical release was Remedy's decision. They were forced to be the ones to talk about it, but I'd imagine it was all Epic.
@ApostateMage I love Cyberpunk 2077 as well (I'm in the middle of a second playthrough now), but damn, I''m not sure I could have played it for over 600 hours this year.
For me it's far and away Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and then Star Wars Outlaws in second. I'm sure there will be others that get my attention at some point, but those two are so easily my most anticipated there's no point in me voting for anything else.
I agree with somebody else who doesn't understand the price hike complaints in regards to this. These games would have gotten removed regardless of the price hike. That's just how these subscription services work. Some games stay on there for a long time, but a lot stay on for at most a year. More money doesn't equal longer contracts.
I haven't played it, but judging by the review on here, it should be easy to second @somnambulance about The Missing. It's supposed to only be about 6 hours long, so it should be easy to squeeze in for people who aren't knee deep in something else right now.
The only way this makes it onto the PS5 is if Marvel tells them they have to. It's a genuine possibility, basically like MLB forcing Sony to put MLB the Show on other platforms.
I'd still bet against it not being an Xbox exclusive though. If Marvel doesn't care, it doesn't make sense for them not to keep it as an exclusive. It's not the first time they've been silent for no reason either.
Well, that explains why this is $9.99 and the Expansion Pass is $24.99. I thought that was weird, but the fact that this is just a dungeon is why.
If The Rising Tide is pretty good, I will consider getting the Expansion Pass and actually playing through both then. I'm not firing up the game again just to play through 3 or 4 hours of one dungeon.
Hands down the Sega revival trailer. I would have considered Final Fantasy XVI's DLC otherwise, but the ending to the main game killed the excitement I otherwise would have had for it.
@nessisonett "It’s a corporate event masquerading as an award show." That pretty much sums it up perfectly.
It's called The Game Awards, but it's really just a way to show commercials and trailers. Basically, a televised E3 without the show floor. I get that Judge's speech went on for far too long last year, but damn, Geoff went to the total other way.
I guess that it's time to accept he's never going to find the right pacing and structure for the show. He's had too many years now to figure it out and he clearly hasn't. If this was a way to try to shorten the show, that's not the way. I still saw comments about it being too long anyways.
Well, they had me until the word roguelike. No interest in playing anything like this. It's nice that it's free, but it's still extremely disappointing that this is the rumored DLC for the game.
I'll probably still enjoy the game, but this does make it easier to wait on it for the typical Ubisoft price drop. I have no time to play it for the foreseeable future anyways between what I'm already playing and then Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, so it's all good in the end.
And this is why all of us are still fans of PlayStation. Swooping in at the middle of the week providing us with some stability during these crazy times. Thank you, PlayStation, from the bottom of my cold dead heart.

I guess that it's time to accept he's never going to find the right pacing and structure for the show. He's had too many years now to figure it out and he clearly hasn't. If this was a way to try to shorten the show, that's not the way. I still saw comments about it being too long anyways.
Re: PS5 Console Exclusive Rise of the Ronin Out in March 2024
At least they made it easy for me to wait on it given that I'll still be playing Final Fantasy VII Rebirth even a month later.
Re: Life Is Strange Dev Returns with Lost Records: Bloom & Rage on PS5
Yes please. I love Life is Strange as well, so as long as this turns out to be good, this will be mine.
Re: God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla Announced, Free DLC Out Next Week on PS5, PS4
Well, they had me until the word roguelike. No interest in playing anything like this. It's nice that it's free, but it's still extremely disappointing that this is the rumored DLC for the game.
Re: Round Up: Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Reviews Are Torn on Ubisoft's New Open World
I'll probably still enjoy the game, but this does make it easier to wait on it for the typical Ubisoft price drop. I have no time to play it for the foreseeable future anyways between what I'm already playing and then Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, so it's all good in the end.
Re: The Latest PS5 Firmware Update Is Available to Download Now
And this is why all of us are still fans of PlayStation. Swooping in at the middle of the week providing us with some stability during these crazy times. Thank you, PlayStation, from the bottom of my cold dead heart.
