Re: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth 'Hugely Improved' on PS5 Pro, a 'Night and Day' Difference

KilloWertz

@ChromaticDracula For what it should've looked like if the developers weren't incompetent and/or lazy, the game in Performance mode does look awful. There's no way it should look blurry like it does, and it's really blurry. I opted to play it at Fidelity Mode because of how huge the difference was in the graphics department.

@mcdreamer The character movement is indeed slow/heavy, however you want to put it, but that also allowed me to be able to play it in Fidelity mode and not really have an issue with it. No, I shouldn't have had to do that, but playing this at 30 FPS didn't take away from it like it would've from some other games where the characters move quicker.

No, the PS5 Pro will not fix that for you if you felt they moved slow even at 60 FPS. Even though their game engine is obviously crap, the frame rate was always smooth, so it's always going to be the game no matter what you play it on.

Re: State of Play Rumoured for This Month As Sony Looks Set to Skip PS Showcase in 2024

KilloWertz

I've never been hurting for something to play this generation, but that's mainly because of a huge PS4 backlog along with 3rd party releases trying to fill the void.

It took me a while, but I'll join others in saying this generation has been a huge disappointment. I still like my PS5 and there's been some amazing games, but PlayStation's own lack of presence on their own console in comparison to previous generations is definitely a huge bummer. The extended development time can't be used as an excuse either as we are now nearly 4 years into the console generation and several of their developers have still failed to release anything new on the PS5, with nothing in sight as most of their developers have revealed nothing.

I've had enough of being disappointed by these State of Plays, expecting announcements from their 1st party and getting very little, so I will continue to not bother watching this like I have their last couple of State of Plays. I'd rather spend my time playing something than wasting time watching trailers for games I don't care about for the most part.

Re: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth 'Hugely Improved' on PS5 Pro, a 'Night and Day' Difference

KilloWertz

And their incompetence and laziness is "saved" by the PS5 Pro, exactly what was expected if Sony released a PS5 Pro.

They should not have needed a PS5 Pro to get the game to be where it should've been on the base PS5. Especially when Square Enix released 2 PS5 exclusives in a row that had a Performance mode that was a mess.

A shame as I highly enjoyed the game itself (outside of the extremely excessive side content eventually), but should've been able to play the game in Performance mode if I wanted to and not had the game look so damn blurry.

Re: PS5 Pro Announced, Costs $700 and Out in November

KilloWertz

@Titntin So you firmly believe in your own little perfect world that an unnecessary overpriced mid-gen refresh will have no bearing on what the PS6 will cost? That somehow a console that's more powerful than the PS5 Pro will cost the same or cheaper? I've never once tried to claim the PS5 Pro was anything but a luxury item, but that doesn't change how the price of it could have ramifications for the next generation.

Must be nice to continue to go along in your world not caring about prices because of the fact that you have plenty of money. Somehow anybody who is concerned about the price and rightfully is expressing their displeasure over it is wrong though.

Re: PS5 Pro Reveal Is Already Sony's Most Disliked Console Announcement

KilloWertz

@twitchtvpat What a small portion of the world was willing to pay for a console initially is not something to defend your stance of burying your head in the sand and criticizing anybody who thinks differently than you.

What you've said doesn't change the fact that this is a troubling path. An already expensive console as the initial console for the generation, and then an insanely expensive mid-gen refresh. If that becomes the norm, and that would be asinine, then the console that is initially released at the beginning of the console generation will end up being even more expensive than it should've been if people buy the insanely expensive completely unnecessary mid-gen refresh. That's the point I'm trying to make at this point, but for some odd reason you think we're wrong and it's better to just bury our heads in the sand because, well, I've got nothing because that stance just makes no sense.

Re: PS5 Pro Announced, Costs $700 and Out in November

KilloWertz

@Titntin No, nobody is twisting our arm, but there shouldn't be anything wrong with criticizing the price. It is indeed overpriced, but you were laughing at some people. We have just as much right to complain about the price as you do to make your choice to have fancy things.

It's not so much about the drive not being included. It's just the fact that the price is already ridiculous, so then having to spend $80 on top of that just makes it even worse.

In the end, this is troubling for future console generations. If $700 is the price for a unnecessary mid-gen upgrade, what's to stop Sony from charging at least that much if not more for the PS6? Will we get another mid-gen upgrade then that's even more expensive? Again, as I've said before, there was a purpose for the PS4 Pro. The biggest thing the PS5 Pro will do is hide the laziness and ineptitude of current 3rd party developers. Pricing will get out of hand, and that'll do nothing but drive people away and hurt the industry if this keeps up.

Re: PS5 Pro Reveal Is Already Sony's Most Disliked Console Announcement

KilloWertz

@breakneck No, it's not replacing the current one. That doesn't mean that the price isn't ridiculous though. Expecting people to not complain about it when it is indeed overpriced and completely unnecessary is just silly.

There's more to it than that though. If they plan on charging $700 for this, isn't it a possibility that the PS6 will be at least that much? If it seemed like everybody was ok with the PS5 Pro and it's price, then Sony would be even more likely to actually do that. 'Everybody thinks the price is ok? Alright, then let's see how high we can go with the PS6."

Re: Feature: Everything You Can Do in PS5's New Welcome Hub

KilloWertz

@LifeGirl No doubt. While it is a nice addition/change/whatever you want to call it, it got pretty annoying downloading update after update and it was never it. It's been in beta for far longer than something like this normally would have, probably at least 6 months.

I thought today's update actually was it finally, but again, nada. Then I just figured they are holding it back on purpose for the PS5 Pro, but nope, they are just incredibly slow. Like I said, it'll be good when it finally arrives, but it has definitely taken too long.

Re: PS5 Pro Reveal Is Already Sony's Most Disliked Console Announcement

KilloWertz

@Tchunga You hit the nail on the head. Like I said in my other comment, regardless of whether it is still cheaper than the PC equivalent, this is still taking away one of the major reasons people chose to game on video game consoles rather than a PC in the first place. $700-$800, depending on whether you need a disc drive (which is now stupidly selling out anyways), is simply not affordable anymore for a lot of people.

As much as I prefer to game on PlayStation in order to get some of the 3rd party blockbusters that you can't get with Nintendo or first party titles like Horizon, it's getting to a point where if I want to keep gaming I'll have no choice but to switch to Nintendo. They are extremely anti-consumer as well with their refusal to drop prices on games that have been out for several years, but at least you don't have to pay an arm and a leg to game overall. Maybe Horizon 3 will be out before the PS6 comes out, which is the one game I absolutely need to play as I need to finish the series that got me to buy a PS5. Then I might consider switching.

Re: PS5 Pro Reveal Is Already Sony's Most Disliked Console Announcement

KilloWertz

@breakneck There's nothing wrong with heavily criticizing Sony for the PS5 Pro. Yes, getting an equivalent PC would be a lot more money. It's always been that way. There are multiple reasons why a lot of people have chosen to game on video game consoles rather than PC, and that is because of cost, convenience, and such. Yes, this is still cheaper than PC, but it's to a point where there are a lot of people who won't be able to afford this. I don't care how many people on here say they can, as people on here are a small portion of the world. Add on the fact that it'll be nearly $800 for physical gamers, and it's borderline insane. That takes away one major reason people chose to game on video game consoles, regardless of comparisons to PCs.

This machine doesn't even need to exist in the first place. What does that mean? There was a need for the PS4 Pro. The rise of 4K. We don't need a mid-gen upgrade for a machine most of the 3rd party developers are just simply too lazy to take advantage of. Now with more power, the games will look and perform better, but only because the system is more powerful.

Re: 'It Felt Like Putting New Glasses On,' Claims First PS5 Pro Hands On

KilloWertz

So, as people thought when talk about the PS5 Pro started, they will use the hardware as an excuse when in reality they just simply suck at optimizing their games. There's no reason why somebody has to spend $700 (plus more if you have the disc version) to get a version of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth that we should've gotten when it came out.

As for people questioning the image, it's been a while since I played it, but it did look horrible in Performance mode. Really blurry in comparison to the Graphics mode. It is possible that is altered somewhat, but it did look horrible in comparison imo.

Re: PS5 Pro Announced, Costs $700 and Out in November

KilloWertz

@Titntin There's expensive and there's absurd. $700 and it doesn't even come with a disc drive, something for me that is essential since I still have a lot of physical games. I'm not even going to bother watching the video on it now as I know I'll never be getting this. It doesn't matter how much better it is over the base PS5, that's a price point that is absolutely ridiculous, especially for a console that doesn't even need to exist in the first place.

Re: Star Wars Outlaws' Instant Fail Stealth Sections Will Be Reworked in Upcoming PS5 Patch

KilloWertz

@KillerIsD34D That actually would go a long way to helping make those sections less frustrating. I have found certain ones of them annoying and others just fine, but more frequent checkpoints would be nice.

That and the ability to save more often. I can just be walking around looking for somebody and I still won't be able to save, which makes no sense. Or autosaves taking up more slots, as there's basically just one save slot that continues to override itself most of the time, so you can lose quite a bit of progress if you want to backtrack.

I'm still highly enjoying the game as a whole though. I'd say a decent amount of the hate is from people that didn't even play the game yet and just want to give negative comments on it.

Re: PS5 Pro Showcase Set for Tomorrow, Hosted by Mark Cerny

KilloWertz

The only good thing about this imo is the fact that at least they'll finally announce something substantial for once, as it's been a while for the most part outside of one thing here and one thing there.

The thing is, there was a reason for a PS4 Pro. The rise of 4K. To do yet another one this gen is just stupid. Sure, the PS5 can struggle with running some things at 4K/60, but a decent amount of the issues are developer related, not the hardware. If the developer would put in the effort to properly optimize their games like developers such as Insomniac do with ease, then there would be less issues.

On top of the fact that mid-gen refreshes take away a good chunk of the advances the next gen would've provided. Again, I get why they released a PS4 Pro, but they should've saved all of the advances they are going to claim to make for the PS6.

I'm not saying I won't buy one someday, but there's no reason for me to buy one now. My near-launch PS5 still works perfectly fine, and the vast majority of the shortcomings from games that bothered me were because of the developer, like Square Enix not knowing how to optimize 2 straight games they designed specifically for the PS5.

Re: Sony Execs Seem to Think the Company Doesn't Have Enough Original IP

KilloWertz

I agree with everybody else saying how much dead IP they have been sitting on all this time, but I suppose the one positive from the interview is him acknowledging that they will be creating new IP moving forward. Yes, they could just revive some of the MANY ones they have been sitting on, but at least it seems like they'll be creating more new games going forward rather than be content with just using the handful of IPs they've been relying on for a while now and trying to use other companies to fill the gaps. That philosophy, while it has managed to get some solid 2nd/3rd party exclusives along the way, isn't PlayStation.

Re: Sony Flop Concord Axed Two Weeks After PS5, PC Release

KilloWertz

They really should give everybody a refund if you can't play the game anymore a month after release.

A shame the developer wasn't allowed to just make this into a single player game. I never played it, but it seems like there were enough good elements there that it could've been a solid single player FPS.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 544

KilloWertz

@ApostateMage It's fine. Maybe you've taken too many trips to Night City and your brain is permanently fried.

Yeah, the lockpicking isn't that bad once you really pay attention and it clicks (no pun intended). I still have no problem with games doing the very simple lockpicking, but this isn't bad once you get the hang of it. I haven't done the eating mini game yet, but I did look it up, so maybe at some point I will try that.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 544

KilloWertz

@Ravix Thanks for the very detailed help there. It actually did click for me yesterday. Initially I was being stupid and just hitting it the first time instead of completing all of the "beats" before putting it down to Easy and then eventually getting it out of sheer luck. Now I'm actually paying attention.

I'm sure your comment will help others.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Star Wars Outlaws?

KilloWertz

@Malaise The rant is fine. I end up going on them at times too. Yeah, in regards to playing their games, I could care less about what goes on behind the scenes. I play and watch what I want regardless of what happens behind the scenes for the most part.

I do normally wait on Ubisoft games, but it can depend on what else is coming out around their game at the time. Other than Astro Bot, for me there isn't really much coming out right around now, so I felt there was no reason to wait. If the reviews for Outlaws were all fairly negative, then that would've changed things, but that would've been the only way the reviews would've swayed me. The 6/10 from here is out of the norm. Judging whether I wait will likely apply to AC Shadows once I actually look at the release schedule for the rest of the year.

There is an option in the menus to turn down the difficulty to easy, which makes it a little better. I'll probably get better at it the more I play the game, especially trying to take my time instead of trying to just power my way through it whenever I get a little frustrated. It's also so much different from most game's lockpicking, so an initial adjustment period of sorts is not that surprising I guess.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 544

KilloWertz

@ApostateMage Slicing and lockpicking are two different things. Yes, the slicing in the game where you just guess what the three symbols are is easy. The regular lockpicking when you use the data spike in what is essentially a rhythm mini-game is what is giving people like myself some trouble early on.

There is an option in the accessibility menu to turn the difficulty down to Easy on it, which is what I did and it's not as bad. I'm sure @Ravix is having a much easier time with it. If I start taking my time instead of trying to rush through it, I'll probably get better at it. As I've said before, it's not something that is a dealbreaker by any means. It was just annoying at first for the most part.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Star Wars Outlaws?

KilloWertz

@Malaise Indeed. I haven't been criticized directly in this case thankfully, but I was covering my bases if somebody did as I know there are people out there that would think that.

Thanks. I hope it does too of course, but I have a feeling it will. I like Star Wars and I like Ubisoft open world games, so it was pretty easy for me to know I was going to like it well before it came out.

The only annoying thing is the lockpicking, which is still a bit annoying even when you go into the settings and turn the difficulty for lockpicking down to Easy. Nothing that gets in the way too much. They just tried to get a little too creative imo. I think really simple lockpicking that we've gotten in some games over the years has been just fine.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Star Wars Outlaws?

KilloWertz

Been playing it since Tuesday and have highly enjoyed it so far. I don't care if the game isn't getting GotY level review scores. I was really looking forward to it ever since it was shown for the first time and I'm happy with it so far.

I also don't care if people think I'm crazy for dropping $110 on a Ubisoft game, but I wanted to play it rather than some of the higher rated games that came out recently.

Re: Star Wars Outlaws (PS5) - Open World Pledge Produces a Superficial Space Outing

KilloWertz

I got the Gold Edition and have been playing it since Tuesday. I've been enjoying it. I pretty much knew I would already when it was announced, and I could care less what the reviews say. I'd rather be playing this than some of the games that have gotten better scores recently.

Not saying everybody will agree obviously, but I don't find it to be a 6 at all. The only annoying thing for me so far was the lockpicking, but there is an option to change the difficulty of it to Easy. Problem solved for the most part.

Re: Site News: Where's Our Star Wars Outlaws PS5 Review?

KilloWertz

Obviously you always hope for really high scores with any game you are looking forward to. This hasn't reached that level obviously, sitting at 77 at the time of me typing this, but I'm still really looking forward to my copy arriving tomorrow. It should still be a lot of fun, which is what I expected from Outlaws all along.

Re: Preview: Double Exposure Stretches Life Is Strange Across Two Gripping Timelines

KilloWertz

Really looking forward to both games as well. Like the article said, these games are perfect for palette cleansers, and are generally more reliable. Out of Life is Strange alone, I haven't disliked a single one.

I would argue that True Colors was good enough to contend with the original, so technically the series may not always be at it's best with Max as the main character. Still, I am glad she is getting another game with this one rather than another new character.

Re: This Is Your Last Chance to Get Dying Light 2's Ultimate Edition on PS5

KilloWertz

I understand why they are delisting it and going to relaunch it so to speak in this case, but it's not surprising that it will have several editions by the end of it all like Dying Light did. Wouldn't surprise me if they released another Ultimate Ultimate Edition someday too with The Beast back in it.

Yes, I will likely always be a bit bitter at Techland for selling both the Enhanced Edition and the Platinum Edition at the same time instead of delisting the Enhanced Edition right away. I figured I jumped on a really good deal when I got the Enhanced Edition for $12, only to see that there was another edition available that included even more content but obviously wasn't on sale. It's obvious they were trying to get people like me that didn't know any better to buy the lesser release that shouldn't even have been available anymore anyways. Dying Light has 4 editions, which is absurd.

Re: Lost Records: Bloom & Rage Charms with First Gameplay Trailer, Release Split into Two Parts

KilloWertz

@Athrum Since they are publishing the game themselves, there doesn't seem to be one. It wouldn't be surprising if another company like Limited Run stepped in and released one at some point if initial digital sales are strong.

I don't mind it being released episodicly, but I'll just wait until March for both parts. I'm sure I'll still have plenty left over from this year, so I likely won't have the urge to jump right in anyways.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 541

KilloWertz

@PuppetMaster That's a pretty reasonable comparison for Evil West. Sometimes a fun game is just as good as the GotY contenders in a sense.

Even with the combat being a tad repetitive, it is fun beating the crap out of enemies for a while. It's even better when you pick it up and play it after a day at work.

Yeah, at least they try to work in a few things to mix it up a little. I haven't had any truly challenging boss fights yet, but that's not actually a complaint. I'd rather be able to figure it out after a few deaths than be sitting there after a few dozen deaths and then finally do it somehow.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 541

KilloWertz

Evil West

It's not considered to be a great game, but around 4 hours in I'm having fun with it. Yes, the combat can get repetitive, but there is something to be said about the simple fun Flying Wild Hog games provide. They may never make a GotY contender, but they continue to make games that are entertaining.

Re: Two Star Wars Outlaws DLC Packs Set for Fall and Spring 2025

KilloWertz

@Flaming_Kaiser I get what you're saying and I don't fault you at all for waiting. I just will always think the complaining in regard to them supposedly offering unfinished products to be ridiculous. Like I've said, their main stories always have an end to them and then the DLC are just bonus side stories.

I know it gives the impression that it's held back content, but if it doesn't keep the game's main story from being complete, I don't care and I think people are being ridiculous for complaining about things that are just extra bonus side stories. It is what it is though I guess.

Re: Movie Review: Borderlands - As Bland As the Brand It's Based On

KilloWertz

Not a fan of the series. Even tried Tiny Tina's first spin-off/DLC game because I figured I'd give it a shot being a big Horizon fan (naturally then being an Ashly Burch fan) and didn't care for it.

I was hoping this would at least be entertaining though, as it was more the gameplay than anything else that I disliked. Can likely cross this one off the list then.
