Re: Digimon Story Time Stranger (PS5) - Monster Taming RPG Squanders So Much Potential

JamieF1

I feel like people put way too much stock in reviews. Back in 2000, Digimon World got fairly average reviews, and it's a cult classic. So many times I saw Dragonball games when I was a kid get low reviews, and yet I loved them.

I really enjoyed the demo, and I'm fairly certain I'll enjoy the full game. I enjoyed Cyber Sleuth, and this seems like a big step up, so I've no reason to believe otherwise.

As for the FPS, I've not had a single problem so far. I don't feel like it's that big of a deal either.

Re: Talking Point: Sony's Investing in Anime, But Why Isn't PlayStation Leading the Charge?

JamieF1

There's definitely a market, but it needs to go beyond what we usually get. More gacha games or arena fighters isn't the way forward.

Take Solo Levelling, for example. I'm sure someone could make one hell of an RPG out of that.

Whether it's an existing IP, or a new idea, the art style lends itself to great visuals, but there needs to be good ideas behind it instead of the unoriginal stuff we've been getting for years.

Re: The Plucky Squire (PS5) - Joyful, Inventive Adventure on Every Page of PS Plus Gem

JamieF1

Obviously everyone is entitled to their own gaming proclivities, but I'm surprised that some people here are being quite negative towards the game.

Personally, I find it very charming. From the art style, to the story, and even the collectables. It all shows a lot of love that went into the game and after a good hour and a half with it last night, I'm looking forward to playing some more, and then sharing it with the kids too.

Obviously it's not particularly challenging, but not every game has to be. I'm just enjoying the ride that it's taking me on.

Re: Support to End for F1 Manager 2022 Less Than Two Months After Launch

JamieF1

I don't really understand the hate this is getting. Other than the very rare occasion, which hasn't happened the last few times, having a SC bug, the game is absolutely fine. I've been enjoying it with no issues. I think it's a really solid start to this series. Not all games need constant live service updates.

Looking forward to seeing what they add with the next game. If it's much of the same, then perhaps I'll see a problem, but for now, I don't get the negativity.

Re: F1 Manager 2022 (PS5) – Frontier's Management Sim Takes Pole Position

JamieF1

Maybe it's just me, but I think some of these comments are a little bit harsh. The game isn't perfect, but for a first effort, I'm finding it really enjoyable.

Just over halfway through the season, and it's been fun trying to take Williams up the grid. I was a little concerned that choosing a team higher up the grid would make things too easy, so this has hit the sweet spot for me.

I think some people expect too much as well. But personally, I'm enjoying this more than I enjoyed Motorsport Manager. But I guess it comes down to personal preference.

Re: F1 2021 (PS5) - Great Additions Make This the Best, and Most Accessible, F1 Sim

JamieF1

An 8/10 is quite surprising for me. From what I've seen, other than the addition of the story mode, nothing really seems any different, and the story mode itself, which seems to be scenario based is certainly not something that interests me at all.

I've heard that the DS5 triggers make throttle and brake control a lot better, so there's that at least, but it'll be a pass from me. Hopefully those who get it enjoy it though!

Re: F1 2021's Braking Point Story Mode Gets First Details, Screenshots

JamieF1

@ORO_ERICIUS For getting it right. With how poorly they've implemented the post race press questions in previous games and how incoherent they were in comparison to what actually happened in the race, I don't see how they can make something much more in depth come out anything but disjointed without venturing down the route of race scenarios. Either way, I hope people enjoy it, and I hope they can prove me wrong!

Re: Knockout City: Tips and Tricks for Beginners

JamieF1

I was wondering how people were curving the damn ball! 😂

The becoming the ball technique is a great one though, I've been able to save the team a few times by sacrificing myself to become the ball, and it's so damn satisfying!

Re: Sony Giving Away Free PS4 Games as Play At Home Initiative Returns

JamieF1

@rpg2000 Yeah, I don't anymore now that I better internet, but where I was before it took a long time to load anything and the app just seemed unstable in comparison to how it is now. Whereas using Netflix, Prime, YouTube, Twitch, I had no issues. The wwe network was pretty shocking too after they updated it.

Re: Sony Giving Away Free PS4 Games as Play At Home Initiative Returns

JamieF1

@ThomasHL If you have decent internet, then Funimation is okay, but the app itself is far from being a good streaming service unfortunately. Before I moved, trying to watch MHA on my PlayStation on there was often times painful.

Having said that, this ties in really well with season 5 of My Hero Academia, so should be the perfect time to re-sub!

Re: Diablo 2: Resurrected Goes to Hell on PS5, PS4 in 2021

JamieF1

I loved the original Diablo as a kid despite not being very good at it. Enjoyed Diablo 3 when it came out on PS3 and then absolutely loved playing through it with a friend on PS4. We must have played it for hundreds of hours in the end.

Diablo 2 slipped me by because I never had the opportunity to play it on PC, so this is really exciting. About a year ago I went back to Diablo and completed it and thought about doing the same with Diablo 2, but I'm glad I waited now.

Re: UK Schools Suggesting PS4 for Home Learning During Lockdown

JamieF1

It's a tricky time, but schools being closed is still the best thing at the moment. In Europe, there are plenty of examples of kids not starting school until they're 7, and those countries actually have better results long term than children in the UK who start at 4/5. So for the young primary school children, it's not strictly necessary.

As for the older children, closer to exam age, they need to take responsibility for their learning and should understand the weight it carries more so.

One of the most frustrating things is that no matter what the government does, people complain. They've not handled it as well as they could have, but it's a tricky one to balance. They relax the rules, people complain, the tighten things up, people complain. On some level, people need to take responsibility and put the onus on themselves instead of having someone tell them what to do. We're adults.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 346

JamieF1

I had the original Diablo on PS1 about 18/19 years ago, so I decided to finally go about completing that game, after downloading it on GoG. Took about 10 hours, but enjoyed my time with it!
Now I've got the temptation to play Diablo 2, as it's the only one of the three titles I haven't played.

Re: Best Free PS4 Games

JamieF1

@andreoni79 Definitely worth a shot even if you're playing solo! Admittedly I enjoyed it more with a friend, but still had plenty of fun on my own as well.

Re: Free-to-Play RPG Genshin Impact Is Out Now on PS4

JamieF1

I'll give this one a go. Looks like it could be enjoyable.
Not sure what all the fuss is about it being F2P. Warframe is F2P as well, and I maintain the opinion that it's one of the better games this generation.
F2P doesn't automatically mean bad, and certainly shouldn't turn you off if you were interested in it before.

Re: Rumour: Diablo 4 Is Much Darker and Grittier than Diablo 3, Might Be Open World

JamieF1

I'm certainly not opposed to a darker Diablo. I remember playing the original Diablo on PS1 when I was young and didn't get very far. Never played D2 as I wasn't a PC guy, but Diablo 3 is my all time favourite game. Bought it for PS3, fell in love with it on PS4, bought it for a friend, and bought it for Switch 😂
I'm so ready for Diablo 4 now, not to mention the rumoured Diablo 2 remaster.

Re: An Update for PixelJunk Monsters 2 on PS4 Promises Big Changes

JamieF1

Surprised at the comments here, I loved the first game and equally loved the second, not to mention it looks beautiful.
It's easy to start off with but the harder levels do pose a challenge on certain stages.

My only gripe with the game is that playing multiplayer with friends is actually quite difficult, not at all intuitive and quite a frustration, so if that's fixed then I'll be very happy.

Re: Pokémon-Like MMO Temtem Is Coming to PS4

JamieF1

Looks a bit like Pokemon meets Digimon and to be honest, I think it looks good. The art style is really pleasing to the eye, and I'll be keen to see how they manage any kind of "story" is it's solely online.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 213

JamieF1

A Way Out. I can't say enough nice things about it. My friend picked this up for £25 and I was able to play the whole game with him online with the full game trial for free, though in retrospect, I'd be more than happy to play it for that amount. Everything about it is fantastic, the co-op elements throughout never feel stale, and they are always throwing fun little things in there to do throughout, which I won't spoil.
The story itself is brilliant as well. Only took us about 5/6 hours to complete for one playthrough but we plan on going back and changing our options to see how it effects the story.
Seriously worth it for anyone on the fence.
