TimeSplitters Future Perfect PS2 PlayStation 2

The TimeSplitters series was beloved back on the PlayStation 2, but it sadly fell by the wayside as Free Radical Design began to struggle. The licence for the franchise has rested with Crytek for some years, but nothing has been done with it, despite vocal fans calling out for it, and even attempting to forge remake themselves.

However, Koch Media has bought TimeSplitters, giving them the ability to create new games and re-release the old ones. It seems the company won't be wasting its time either, as it's hinted that a new game could be in the works. Klemens Kundratitz, head honcho of Koch Media, released a statement on the acquisition.

"We are hugely excited to have acquired Timesplitters. The original games gave fans a massive content offer and provided a pure and genuinely fun arcade shooter experience. We have many fans of the Timesplitters series among our own staff who are passionate about creating a product that will thrill todays gaming audience."

Creating a product, eh? We'll have to wait and see what happens, but this is the best chance of seeing a new TimeSplitters game in many years. Would you be excited to see a potential TimeSplitters 4? Get all nostalgic in the comments below.
