The TimeSplitters series was beloved back on the PlayStation 2, but it sadly fell by the wayside as Free Radical Design began to struggle. The licence for the franchise has rested with Crytek for some years, but nothing has been done with it, despite vocal fans calling out for it, and even attempting to forge remake themselves.
However, Koch Media has bought TimeSplitters, giving them the ability to create new games and re-release the old ones. It seems the company won't be wasting its time either, as it's hinted that a new game could be in the works. Klemens Kundratitz, head honcho of Koch Media, released a statement on the acquisition.
"We are hugely excited to have acquired Timesplitters. The original games gave fans a massive content offer and provided a pure and genuinely fun arcade shooter experience. We have many fans of the Timesplitters series among our own staff who are passionate about creating a product that will thrill todays gaming audience."
Creating a product, eh? We'll have to wait and see what happens, but this is the best chance of seeing a new TimeSplitters game in many years. Would you be excited to see a potential TimeSplitters 4? Get all nostalgic in the comments below.

Oh my....
That said, I think I'd quite like just a remaster of TS2. Really didn't get on with TS3.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE !
OK sorry for spam but every E3 I joke about a new Timesplitters but deep down I mean it a lot
ITβS TIME TO SPLIT π

FINALLY!!!!! Seriously, it's about time.
What you mean is THQ Nordic bought yet ANOTHER IP.
This makes me so happy π
Surely this just needs to be basically Overwatch with the Timesplitters characters. And you know, like more than two modes.
@johncalmc remaster with arcade mode as multiplayer is all it needs. The original games already offer more variety than most shooters released these days
@johncalmc I agree with @B-I-G-DEVIL here.
TS2 MP was spot on.
Co-op time splitters had so much potential, limited by the technology at the time. Hopefully this is done well and no random exclusive dlc situation that doesn't favor me lol.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring out TimeSplitters 1 & 2 & 3(Future Perfect) for the PS4!!! TimeSplitters 2(the best one out of the other 2) was one of my favourite games on the PS2(and most played mainly in the brilliant 4 player split-screen mode) Then do TimeSplitters 4 + I HATE Crytek for just ignoring the TimeSplitters series :-/
O hell yes. Remake of ts2 first please
YES!
I join the calls for a remastered trilogy, to re-introduce the franchise and get everybody hyped whilst working on TimeSplitters 4.
Just don't make it online-only or battle royale and I'll be a happy bunny.
I only got to play a demo of this back in the day, but it was one of those games that I never asked mom and dad to buy for me. But in Timesplitters defense it was the ps2 era aaaand there was usually always one or two other games out that I had to choose from so this always got put on the back burner.
I always enjoyed the demo but unfortunately at the time I never had anyone to try splitscreen multi player with. So i really hope they don't trade in splitscreen mp for online only mp this time around.
While I never owned any of the games myself, I did play TimeSplitters 2 with friends a lot and it was brilliant. Unfortunately, having become an old misanthrope that can't get excited for anything anymore, I don't trust the modern game industry enough to make a proper, good follow up. It'll more than likely be the same online multiplayer based shooter with microtransactions that we have been getting up to this point. I'd eventually be on board for a remastered trilogy, but that's about it.
I still play Timesplitters 2 on GameCube every now and then and still love the game, hopefully this'll be just as good as that game
Hopefully they can get some of the original team on board for this, whichever way they decide to go with it.
@johncalmc But why like Overwatch that game is nothing special good game nothing more. π
And they are the π€¬ers that made lootboxes a thing.
@RadoGoji Agree just look what happen to Star Wars Battlefront 1 & 2 with its loot boxes
Only ever played Timesplitters FP, but I absolutely loved it. I'd be so happy with a remaster of that (at least) before going for T4
I never played the games before, why do people love this franchise so much?
