That joke doesn't really work. I'm pretty sure already downloaded SP games mostly work without online, and MP physical games still are essentially useless without online. Not to mention physical games usually need tons of patches etc.

@ironcrow86 Honestly I'm sure it's very good. It's just it's hard to fork out the £70 when there's so many games and so little time. I'll probably end up buying it around black Friday 2025.

Making a good game isn't enough to make money, you need to make an amazing game. It's not easy. Also, turning DA4 into a live service wouldn't have guaranteed success.
Lastly, if they'd planned it as a normal SP game from the outset, it's budget would have been lower.

@PuppetMaster Whenever there's a sale I only check my wishlist and buy what has the best discounts. I keep an eye on news websites when a ps showcase or whatever announces new stuff and I fill my wishlist that way.

The problem is, that requires following VG news pretty closely. More casual gamers don't do that.

The thing I don't get is even a piece of crap 'game' is going to cost some time and money to make, and they can't sell all that well. (They're rubbish and have little to no marketing). So what do the people who churn this stuff out even get?

On the one hand, these strategies of Microsoft's will force a ceiling on Xbox and Game Pass sales (although I'm sure a non-3rd party games version of GP will eventually reach PS), but on the other hand, MS will make a lot of money from selling these famous Xbox/Activision/etc. games. It's hard to tell if it's a good move or not. God knows how it'll affect the 10th gen.

Did the collection remaster Halo 2 as well as Halo 1?

Really looking forward to this game, but I'd rather buy it when both halves are out. Especially as I've got a massively large backlog, anyway.

@themightyant To me it translates as 'wait for the inevitable complete edition with all the DLC, free updates and fixes'.

@Stevemalkpus I just add anything that I'm super interested in to my wishlist and just check that during sales. There usually at least one thing there that's very cheap

Already bought a load of PS5 games over Black Friday but I'll definitely get Oxenfree 2.

I really hope they don't try and develop it's own games. That just wouldn't be sustainable. It should either play PS5 games or 'lowest setting' PS6 games. (I'm assuming a 2027-28 release as far as tech is concerned)

I'm genuinely very surprised. I thought they kept a smaller team to do the DLC?

@ShogunRok How accessible is this game to people pretty much completely new to Dragon Age? Witcher 3 was very accessible to newbies, is this game, too?

I (almost) feel sorry for devs and publishers at this point. If it's $70, gamers moan about the expense, if it's $50, gamers moan about a possible catch. No wonder there's so much playing it safe with remakes.

'Young Bond' is a bit vague. The movie Bonds tend to be about 35-50 years old. So I'm assuming a 'young' Bond young be late 20's? About 5 years before getting '00' status? I think anyone assuming a teenager or whatever are getting the wrong end of the stick.

I think 'spin-off' is a bit unfair. It's presumably not a kart racer. It's an anthology sequel or standalone sequel

Apparently it's set in 1603 Hokkaido. Good idea to make it an anthology series. Hopefully the third game will be set in 1800's Edo period!

@michaelf Yeah, I'm going to buy the ps5 slim on black Friday and that'll be my console for 6 years at least. If I have to wait 4 years to buy the PS6, that's fine. I can't imagine it'll be that graphically different to the untrained eye, anyway

Hell, the original PS5 is too expensive, still. Especially with the 'PS6 in 2026' rumours. I'm kind of paralyzed on buying any ps5. What a joke. I'd pay £350 for a PS5 slim with disc drive.

I'm going to be blunt. I can't justify paying £700 on a games console. TBH, I can't imagine your average casual gamer doing that, either. The online hardcore gamers will love it, though.

Never say never with Sony doing the same. Even if Xbox's ecosystem stays at 30M, that's still 30M untapped potential customers.

I've literally got two PS4 games left and a mountain of games in the 'when I get a ps5' pile. When will the pro be announced? Really want to get a ps5 pretty soon.

The thing of releasing a big free update along with some kind of paid expansion seems to be the done thing, now. Quite a nice idea.

@Yusuo Neither have I. It'll probably do 'surprisingly well' for a few months, then numbers will drop and it'll vanish off the face of the earth. Just another looter shooter. I find the idea of them so boring at this point

The graphics remind me of Zelda crossed with HD versions of the old Harry Potter games. I kind of suit that kind of game, TBH.

@belmont The weirdest thing about the Gollum game is apparently the story was decent and the studio previously made visual novel type games. Why didn't they just make a Gollum visual novel? It'd have been better and cost considerably less to make.

That being said, I'm surprised 'LOTR: Total War' and some kind of LOTR action RPG (Do the Shadow of Mordor games count?) hasn't been made yet

@Frmknst That's a really good point. If the 'AAA' gaming industry collapsed into oblivion, we'd still have AA and indie games. Steam is absolutely packed with them.

Sigh, still no discount on Star Trek Resurgence, or that QOL patch for Signalis...

I'd pay $60 for hd remasters of the 'trilogy' if there are as good as that earlier remaster collection. $20 for essentially a port is ridiculous. At least the RDR1 port looks a bit better and (I think?) runs in 60fps.

The constant use of the word scoundrel in promotional stuff is starting to grate. Sort of like how every PR guy needs to say 'Merc with a Mouth' at least 3 times a sentence when talking about Deadpool.

@breakneck I believe it's from Deck Nine/Square Enix. Don't Nod are doing 'Lost Records: Bloom & Rage' which looks like a spiritual successor. It'll be interesting to see which is better. Hopefully both are really good

To be fair, depth of gameplay is much more important than map size.

@Oxy For sure. I've got a list of about 30 ps5 games I'm pretty sure I'd really like so I will get it. Just need to see if the pro is worth the extra money, first.
