I think so. There's a rumour that seems to imply that Xbox is going to pivot to being more of a Steam competitor+ 3rd party publisher. I wouldn't be surprised if that rumored 2026 console was closer to a steam deck rather than a traditional home console. It's bizarre that the 'big three' might all be in slightly different niches in a few years time. Portable gaming, home console gaming and (sort of) pc gaming. Sony wouldn't have a direct competitor.

I liked all the LIS games to various extents and DON'T NOD seem to be doing pretty well at the moment. I never preorder anything but I'm optimistic for this.

@nessisonett TBH, those souls-like more complicated combat-heavy games aren't my jam anyway.

At this point, I can't really comment until they actually release some games. 🙄 I'll be really annoyed if they continue to neglect Deus Ex, though.

@WafflingHearts Let's say a season of Fallout takes 2 years on average. I doubt we'll get F5 until at least 4 years after TES6 (so 2030?). We'll probably get 3 or 4 more seasons of this show before F5 unless something changes

@LifeGirl It does make me laugh when people say 'streaming is worse than cable now'. I bet those people never really watched cable. Far fewer shows and movies to watch, no pausing or downloading to watch on the go, beholden to TV schedules, ads (or at least far more ads) and it cost a lot. I hate using the word 'entitled' but if people expect to watch the entirety of the mountain of stuff released today for like $15/month then what other word is there?

@LordAinsley 2 and 3 are pretty good (story wise, 3 is amazing) and Mafia 1 DE is awesome.

So far, I've heard about next gen updates, a sort of 'Mafia 0' set in Sicily and a Mafia 4 set in 70s or 80s Las Vegas. I hope they all come true, eventually

I'm cautiously optimistic about this. I'm guessing it'll be essentially Star Wars - Far Cry. But the different planets should slightly differentiate it from other OW games. My main questions are:
1. Will the story be reasonably good
2. Can I ignore the busywork and/or grinding and still enjoy the game?
3. Will it have actual side quests like Witcher 3 etc.?
If it manages these, and reviews well, I'll give it a go.

Still waiting for a 50% sale for RDR1 PS4, Star Trek Resurgence, The Expanse and Amnesia The Bunker. Also I'll get Signalis when the QOL patch comes to PS4. Definitely not buying it until then.

This confusion is really starting to get to me. I'm paralyzed on the ps5. It's has great games on it that I'd genuinely love, by I don't: a) Want to spend £450 ish on a ps5 slim that could be made obsolete by the ps5 pro or b) spend £550+ (I'm guessing) on a ps5 pro that could be made obsolete by MS and/or Sony starting the 10th gen in 2026. Why is this even a conversation when games are already so expensive! It's genuinely like executives have gone insane.

Ooh, I wonder what'll happen to those new hires when that game's released?

@OldGamer999 I'm worried it'll ger much worse when the PS5 pro releases. We'll probably be lucky if big games barely manage 20FPS on the standard PS5.

@jt887 This performance stuff is worrying. I don't have a ps5 yet, but I'm concerned that games will barely work on the normal PS5 when the ps5 pro releases, at this rate

@LiamCroft Sounds like a patch to make the enemies a bit less bullet spongey would go a long way

Hmm, I'm assuming the PS5 slim will drop to £420 when this releases. I'm imagining this being £550? Surely it wouldn't be more than that? (Also I'm sure both will have discless versions that cost £60-£80 less).

@MaddieTian Merging DLC and sequels (essentially resurrecting standalone expansion packs) might be a good solution. I don't need endless new mechanics and maps with every sequel if the base gameplay loop is good.
I could have played 5 sequels to Deus Ex Human Revolution with the same gameplay and graphics as long as the maps were interesting and dense with a few fun side quests.

@trev666 Fallout 1 and 2 remakes in the style of Wasteland 3 will QOL improvements would be amazing.

I will say that I had zero interest in this (as I do most VG adaptations) until I learned it's actually telling a new story in a new location? Now I'm actually interested. Will characters from other West Coast Fallout games cameo in it?

@WolfyTn I can't imagine they'll do DLC and that Venom mini-sequel, right? Maybe, I suppose...

This kind of looks like the reverse of GreedFall 1. Looking forward to it, I really enjoyed the original and it's dlc.

@colonelkilgore Sort of a Majora's Mask to it's Ocarina of Time. I've never understood why every AAA doesn't do this (I guess dlc expansions are kind of the same thing).

I just hope Sony execs don't think they can repeat the success of Helldivers by releasing a (or even more) similar LS game and expecting them to all do as well as Helldivers. That'd be lunacy. Surely the best route is so make the 8th gen a bit longer, get budgets/gamer expectations under control and make first party games on timed exclusives? Maybe PC one year after release and Xbox two years after release? Thank god for AA publishers

@PaperAlien I think it genuinely is. Everyone expanded too fast during COVID, console sales (and graphics, imo) are hitting a ceiling, and games are getting too expensive too make (under current budgets, at least).
Lastly, I believe simply too many games are being made. Nowadays we have so much more things competing for our time (work and stuff to do in free time) that a 'meh' game among hundreds just won't sell that well.

I'm not 100% sure what to think of this game. I loved GOT and was intrigued by this games time period and apparently realistic setting. On the other hand, I've never played a TN game before and noticed an enemy in a trailer that looked straight out of RE4. 'Realistic'? Like all games now, I'll see what the reviews say before buying.

I really hope MS release the Rare Replay collection to pc, switch and ps.

@Thumper Plus we read the reviews. So many of these LS games fail miserably (and they can't be cheap to make either)

I'm trying desperately to work out the price of this. I think the PS5 pro was £100 more than the slim, so I'm guessing the ps5 pro will be at least £500 if the slim gets a price cut to £400. £500 is a lot of money.

Jokes aside, I wouldn't be at all surprised if some (some!) PS exclusives eventually come to Xbox maybe 1-2 years after their PS/PC launches. I'm unsure how that'd work for MP games, though. The hang wringing over this doesn't make sense. Most people who would buy a ps5 just for an exclusive have already bought one, and the percentage of PS owners who even buy exclusives is fairly low. Hence why Sony us worried in the first place. I find the idea of the 10th gen collectively playing all console games kind of exciting, TBH. Especially if BC keeps on being a thing. The consoles are pretty damn similar as it is.

@Godot25 Great idea, cause VG budgets to balloon even more than they already are. Publishers need to get a handle on this ASAP, bringing back 6 year generations will make the problem worse.

With all this stuff about VG budgets ballooning out of control, I'm sure physical releases will be the first thing on the chopping block (well, second after people's jobs).

Yeah I think Sony made the right choice there. Maybe the new routine they'll settle in to is releasing stuff day and date on pc then releasing on PS+ Extra (and maybe Xbox??) about 2 years later.

@Czar_Khastik 'Luckily', I don't have a ps5 (yet) and I doubt my laptop could run half of my steam wishlist, so I'd be surprised if I buy more than 1 or 2 games a month, now.

I'm guessing GOT2 in 2025, then something from NG in 2026. Maybe Horizon 3 in 2027? Plus one or two things from Insomniac, too. But after all that live service stuff, I'm guessing 2024 will be a bit barren for 1st party SP games from Sony.

@Czar_Khastik I've got such a massive backlog and less time to play video games that I can't remember the last time I didn't buy a video game on discount.

My main worry is: 'Is the game so difficult to play on one path due to being underpowered that you're almost forced to play one way'? That was my main issue with Vampyr
