Halo PS5 Rumours Intensify in Aftermath of Forza Horizon 5 Reveal 1

Xbox boss Phil Spencer has already indicated that Microsoft is going all-in on third-party publishing, so it was no real surprise to see the long-rumoured Forza Horizon 5 announced for PS5 overnight.

Of course, the confirmation has led to inevitable speculation that it’s only a matter of time before the remainder of Xbox’s supposed “big three” make the transition, with both Halo and Gears of War on the docket.

Writing on X (or Twitter), Windows Central’s Jez Corden said that the “Master Chief Collection is first, I heard”. He followed up: “We’ll see.”

Rumours of Halo on PS5 have been rampant for quite some time, with trusted industry tipster NateDrake teasing it earlier in the year. That same leaker went on to nail the reveal date of the Nintendo Switch 2, basically confirming his credentials.

While it all fits with Microsoft’s current strategy, Halo releasing on Sony’s console would be a milestone moment, as Master Chief has typically been seen as the mascot of Xbox.

But recent financials revealed slumping hardware sales for Microsoft’s gaming division, and the inclusion of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 in Xbox Game Pass only led to 2% growth in content and services. CEO Satya Nadella has talked at length about the division increasing its revenue by bringing more games to more platforms.

There’s no question that Forza Horizon 5 is going to be a colossal hit when it releases on PS5, and we’d expect similar results for Halo: The Master Chief Collection should these rumours be accurate.

All in all, it’s looking increasingly like Microsoft will be leaning on PlayStation’s fanbase to boost the income of its business.
