@Godot25 Great idea, cause VG budgets to balloon even more than they already are. Publishers need to get a handle on this ASAP, bringing back 6 year generations will make the problem worse.

With all this stuff about VG budgets ballooning out of control, I'm sure physical releases will be the first thing on the chopping block (well, second after people's jobs).

Yeah I think Sony made the right choice there. Maybe the new routine they'll settle in to is releasing stuff day and date on pc then releasing on PS+ Extra (and maybe Xbox??) about 2 years later.

@Czar_Khastik 'Luckily', I don't have a ps5 (yet) and I doubt my laptop could run half of my steam wishlist, so I'd be surprised if I buy more than 1 or 2 games a month, now.

I'm guessing GOT2 in 2025, then something from NG in 2026. Maybe Horizon 3 in 2027? Plus one or two things from Insomniac, too. But after all that live service stuff, I'm guessing 2024 will be a bit barren for 1st party SP games from Sony.

@Czar_Khastik I've got such a massive backlog and less time to play video games that I can't remember the last time I didn't buy a video game on discount.

My main worry is: 'Is the game so difficult to play on one path due to being underpowered that you're almost forced to play one way'? That was my main issue with Vampyr

Is just me or do these Spiderman video games get more abuse from weirdo fan boys than average? Or does that the fact it's such a bit IP make it feel that way?

The idea of what's essentially a portable PS5 to go along with the PS6 sort of makes sense (although I struggle to see the point exactly), but a completely separate portable system with it's own games sounds ridiculous. Even Nintendo don't support two systems at once anymore

The maths checks out. Surely this new game won't release for about 4 years after DS2, so 2029 or thereabouts. Adding 2 years to the (new) usual 7 for COVID/supply crisis stuff and 2028-2029 sounds like a reasonable guess for when the 10th gen will start. TBH, the ps5 pro and those new rumoured Xbox Series whatever models (late 2024?) are probably a way to keep this gen chugging along after such a slow start. Almost like the new models are the 'real' 9th gen and these 4 years were a weird transitional period.

@matekomlosi I think we'll get something from SP first, then ND next. Over the next couple of years. The big question is, how far in advance will Sony announce them?

I must admit, any video game about liberating whatever gets me suspicious. I'm worried it'll be a far cry esque busywork filled grind fest. Cautiously interested, but as always I'm going to wait for reviews

Yeah but doesn't the fact that it's more an 'interactive movie' game than a 'game' game make a regular movie of it even more pointless? TBH, I've never understood VG movies and I've never found one worth watching. Unless they tell a new story, I don't see the point. If they make a prequel or sequel movie to until dawn, that could be interesting.

@RBMango I may play it if 'free' or a £10 upgrade for folks who have the PS4 version

I loved Until Dawn and j guess if they're remastering for pc, they may as well make a ps5 version while they're at it. What on earth is the point of a film of what is essentially an interactive movie? Who's that even for?

I love how FMV video games have made an (admittedly niche) comeback.

Didn't the story go a bit off the rails in 2 & 3? Maybe a full dead space-style remake of KZ1 with the potential for a rebooted 2 & 3 with more grounded plots would be a cool idea.

Imagine how many Greed Fall's, Robocop Rogue City's and Plague Tale Innocence's you could have made for how much this rubbish cost.

@carlos82 Imagine how much fun doing that again and again for literally ever will be? Destiny 2/Apex Legends/Fortnite fans will all drop the games they've sunk hours into and flock to this is drives, you mark my words.

Well Anthem, Evolve and Avengers said all this stuff and they're all money-printing powerhouses, now. So I'm not worried. Can we please see the reviews for this game ASAP so we can all move on?

To be honest, if a fairly major video game just gets given a release year, it'll probably end up being released late that year due to internal delays etc.

There's a lot of fairly old games on my PS4 wishlist with no discount at all...

Shame, none of the indie titles on my wishlist have got discounts...

I have nothing against each publisher having their own online presentations (and have no nostalgia for E3 whatsoever), but why can't publishers at least release them in the same week in June? Why are they now spread out from June to September (or more)?

God knows why anyone would want a 'career' (can it even be called that?) in video game development after this year.

I notice that $70 sometimes means £70 and sometimes means £60. A bit of a difference.

@PixelDragon So am I. I'll never take RE/SH fans concerns too seriously after I saw an RE fan moaning that the RE2 remake was going to be bad because Ada Wong was wearing a coat in the rain.

I think this will be a good-to-great modern remake of SH2. (Why are people worrying about Bats track record on story stuff when the OG story, or it's broad strokes, will be used?) However, I bet die hard SH fans wanting everything except the graphics to be exactly the same will be disappointed.

@zupertramp Could be, Devs getting frustrated with Konami as a publisher doesn't sound unlikely to me, at all

I do agree with this, but I wish we had a proper example of what PS5 (non live service) exclusives we can expect in 2024.

I really hope they make their own Bond (Hopefully based at least partially on the book characters) but at the same time there are 'costumes' to look like the other Bond actors.
