Fallout 3, New Vegas PS5 Remasters Confirmed by Bethesda

It has been rumored but these are the remasters that I have been waiting for. No longer trapped on PS3 for PS users.

Bethesda will do anything except work on Elder Scrolls 6

Oblivion remastered told me not to fall for this trick again.... but I would love to play New Vegas on my PS5

I want to get hyped. I really do. But damn it if this company hasn't burned up most, if not all, of its goodwill over the past decade.

Honestly, the one thing Xbox Game Studios had over PlayStation was quantity and a willingness to try new IPs. Other than that, PlayStation's made consistently better games for over a decade now.

If the new direction at Xbox is beating dead horses and the insane layoffs means calendars are half as full, I really don't know if I'd care much at all about their output.

Dunno... Maybe having half the people will magically make the games better... Kinda doubt the layoffs really hit the layers and layers of excessive management that likely compromised a ton of games, though.

Are these going to be ‘Let’s finally fix everything that’s straight up broken’ Remasters, or ‘Lazy sloppy port hiding behind the pretense of preserving the legacy of the originals’ Remasters à la Oblivion Remastered?

I think it's coming, but they haven't confirmed the platforms.

Fallout 4 was 10 year's ago and Skyrim was 15 years ago now.

@RoomWithaMoose Xbox has just released Forza Horizon 6—the highest-rated game of 2026 so far—and there’s still Fable and Gears of War: E-Day coming up (exclusive to Xbox/PC, not on PlayStation). We also don't have confirmation regarding Bethesda games yet, though I suspect they will come over.

@Mr-Cage Going with the spirit of the phrase "flogging a dead horse", neither Fallout or Elder Scrolls can be described as something that the main stream gaming audience is burned out on. If either series released a game tomorrow it'd sell like hot-cakes.

wasn't the rumor that the fallout 3 remaster was finished , now that its confirmed to be real , i'm guessing it could be a shadow drop whenever they feel like it releasing. not sure how far along new vegas is. i'd gladly replay fallout 3 though , one of my favorite games.

For PS5 though?

Dunno if I ever finished Fallout 3. It was fine but couldn't really get into it at the time, even with Skyrim. It was too much brown and weirdness going on, the Bethesda formula finally fully clicked for me with Fallout 4 for some reason, went back to Skyrim and enjoyed it more afterwards.

@Bot_Bot_69 Not GTA type sales but they would sell quite a lot on every platform there's no reason to think otherwise.
Both Skyrim and fallout 4 sold really well when they came out.
Resident evil requiem came out this year I see both of these easily doing the same if not better than that game at release.

Yep, I'll probably play these again assuming that they don't run like garbage. I'll wait a bit to see if they do that, though. Is Oblivion Remastered even properly fixed yet?

Nice… been waiting for confirmation on Fallout 3 remake for a while. I’ll be happy to plat New Vegas again too.

@Mr-Cage I guess if we ignore remakes, rereleases, each series' MMO, and external IP saturation, sure.

Though I more meant it sounds like Xbox intends for them to become dead horses. Given that we just heard they plan on focusing on established IP, then got this random announcement of 3 Fallout games all at once with no fanfare.

I'm am still quite excited for Fable, though. And I'm hoping E-Day is phenomenal, but I'm not holding my breath.

So we have Fallout 5, new Fallout from Obsidian, and two Fallout Remasters coming? And people thought the Horizon IP was milked with three games 😂.

If they're anything like the Oblivion remaster, they can keep them. I sincerely hope that they outsource them to another studio who's good with the engine.

@MidnightDragonDX They never said they were coming to PS5... Could be Xbox exclusive for all we know. Depends on what Asha plans to do with Xbox

@Questionable_Duck i would think if they've been worked out before she joined on , then they would keep to that. i could see fallout 5 ( assuming shes still there) being exclusive , but those games are so far out with no dates even mentioned being exclusive.

Wonder if they will be Oblivion style remasters with fully updated graphics, or simple “it’s 4k60 now” updates. Hopefully the former, even with Oblivion not being perfect, it still looks gorgeous at least.

Nope. Remaster is literal wasted money to me at this point. If it's not a full remake, then it's a hard pass at this point.

@Balaam_ with what we know about modern day Bethesda it is definitely the latter.

It's amazing what a giant kick in the butt can do to motivate production. Although I'm sure outside "contractors" will be brought in to push these remakes out, then will be let go upon release and there will be no patch support.

What funny I lived in Bethesda for such a long time until I realized Bethesda was actually in Bethesda (more Rockville than Bethesda )

@get2sammyb if what MS has been saying and the IGN article about Elders scrolls and Fallout going Xbox and PC exclusive is to be believed. I don’t think these are coming to PS. I think the day’s of single player content coming to PS is done in 2026. Xbox already said they want 1-2 exclusives every year. IGN was doing a crying and whining article on how many in the industry believe MS is keeping Elder Scrolls 6 as an exclusive. It’s early and a lot can change. But the bread crumbs aren’t lining up for these to PS.

Remastered to look like a ps3 game instead of a ps2 one? Fallout looks awful. We all just accept that, it's not why we play them, doesnt need a remastered, sooner they put all resources into the new game. Can't blame them though, the lure of that remaster free money is too strong. People keep buying them so we're going to get more and more of them.

I wonder if they will update the mechanics at all, RPGs have moved on an awful lot since these classics originally released.

I do feel that Bethesda really have fallen behind their competitors by some margin when you consider the likes of Witcher 3, Cyberpunk and Baldurs Gate 3.

Too little too late for me. I already played Fallout 3 and New Vegas over the last few years due to the TV show. I'm not going to play them all over again just because they finally took the time to do something they should've been allowed to do years ago.

@get2sammyb I don't think they have confirmed platforms just yet. With the new strategy of having some exclusives, you shouldn't just assume they'll be on PS5

@UltimateOtaku91 I'm not really on the side of people who say Horizon is being milked. I think it's a reaction given how much more attention it is getting compared to so many other franchises (with which I agree, being a fan of very neglected Sony franchises).
Since the launch of the PS5, we have had: Horizon: Forbidden West, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, PC ports of both games and the remastered version, the PSVR2 game, Horizon Lego Adventures, and they have shown two Horizon live-service games, having also confirmed that a new singleplayer focused one is on the way.
It still looks far far more than what is going on with Fallout, which hasn't had a new mainline game in over 10 years.

@Bot_Bot_69 what’s wrong with Oblivion? I already have 200 hrs in and no issues I would notice. Even runs well. Good old oblivion with updated graphics.

@HonestHick They will most likely release remasters on PS5, but the ES6 and Fallout 5 will most likely become exclusive. If MS wants to sell consoles they need exclusives. And there are very little franchises that would drag so much attention. Elder Scrolls and Fallouts are such franchises.

Never played New Vegas, but will wait and see how it turns out after hearing about the state of Oblivion Remastered.

FO3 & New Vegas are games i would love to revisit on Modern Hardware. These games performed terribly on PS3.

I mean for access to them sure, other Fallout stuff in the mean time sure.

But I mean these games have a lot going on in them that might not fit modern standards. I haven't even played the games and I'm like oh I see this being ruined in the modern versions for sure to fit modern standards.

It's what I think makes the games so interesting, they had a lot of interesting story telling and details in them.

I have my PS3/360 era copies I got cheap but not played yet. They aren't really my type of games though. I respect the series and their ideas, but they aren't really my type of games.

@Leinad7 Yes in my brief stint, I didn't play far enough to get regressive performance but I experienced enough to make me wanna wait for a patch.

Three things off the top of my head would be micro stutters, large fps dips near Skingrad and broken screen space reflections around the Imperial City lake.

I've played the original across 360 and PC for hundreds of hours, so I was fine waiting for some patches. The Switch 2 release might mean some fixes reach other platforms, though I've given up, if they do come then that'll be a nice surprise.
