Re: PSN Down as PS5, PS4 Players Report Offline Issues

Fizza

Glad I got my Marvel Rivals matches for the day done this morning in that case, I remember the last outage went on for a whole day so hopefully it doesn't get to that point again πŸ˜…

@Boybeales Hmm that's an interesting coincidence, is there something in the latest system update which caused online connectivity to get tangled up I wonder?

Re: Vampire Survivors PS5 Spin-Off Over Double the Price of the Original, But It'll Be More Than Worth It

Fizza

Good lord I already had Darwin's Paradox and Pragmata on the slate for April, now Vampire Crawlers is coming out near the end of the month as well? XD

Very happy to see this though, I've been keeping up with Vampire Crawlers pretty much since the moment they announced it as a big fan of both Vampire Survivors and deckbuilders/roguelikes so I will absolutely be on this day-one πŸ™Œ

Re: Street Fighter 6's Incestuous New Storyline Divides Opinion

Fizza

@UltimateOtaku91 The aspect that makes this whole storyline so bizarre though is that Capcom generally does not do s*** like this in their games. Yes there is the occasional sus moment in earlier Ace Attorney games (back when there wasn't the expectation that the series would leave Japan) but by and large Capcom designs their games with an international audience in mind and while this type of story development isn't particularly taboo in Japan, it is extremely frowned-upon basically everywhere else in the world so why they thought something as creepy as this would go down well with a character as long-established as Alex is beyond me πŸ’€

Re: Street Fighter 6's Incestuous New Storyline Divides Opinion

Fizza

I don't necessarily mind them making Alex into a family man (kinda like a new-age Guile if you will) but having him get together with his adoptive sister who was also confirmed in the same game to be blood-related? Jesus man I have no clue what Capcom was thinking with this, especially when the Arcade/World Tour content heavily indicates they thought this would be perceived as wholesome instead of horrifying πŸ’€

I'm personally hopeful this will be retconned into oblivion soon enough (especially given the suspicious silence from all the SF socials following this revelation becoming known) but good lord man this is such a profoundly idiotic writing choice 😭

Re: PSVR2 Takes Another Hit as Sony Nukes Exclusive Shooter Firewall Ultra

Fizza

Jesus this is an absolutely terrifying precedent to set: they legit just made this lost media out of nowhere for anyone who didn't already buy this beforehand 😭

Yes you could say 'but what about Concord!' but at least that had a PC version and physical release to try and kickstart a preservation effort, this didn't have either and now its just....gone.

Re: Tekken 8's Huge, Game-Changing Season 3 Balance Update Available Now on PS5

Fizza

@MrPeanutbutterz
Untitled
I'm praying they go back and retcon it entirely with a different slate of lore pieces because Capcom managed to do the impossible and make themselves the main target of ire today rather than the Tekken faithful getting yet another dud patch (which given the nuclear reception to T8 Season 2 is truly a feat for the agesπŸ’€).

Re: Sony Decides VTubers May Be the Best Way to Save PS5 in Japan

Fizza

@Reyzore Still blows my mind that Sony hasn't capitalised on the anime gacha market yet outside of a single limited-time collab with Genshin and Horizon a couple years back. Gacha games like Hoyoverse's output are consistently some of the top-performing games on the PS Store, Sony's desperate for a proper live-service hit and people have been wanting Sony to break away from hyper-realistic visuals for their games for quite some time now (Astro Bot being a particularly prominent example of the success such a move can have from recent history).

Re: Opinion: God of War: Sons of Sparta Is the Smaller PS5 Game Fans Want, and I Hope We See More

Fizza

Completely agree personally, though at the same time if we are to get more games like Sons of Sparta in the future, I'd like for them to be able to stand on their own two feet as great games rather than 'flawed but promising' like SoS is currently πŸ˜…

oh and if we are to get more smaller-scale Sony titles in the future, can they PLEASE not be attached to the currently-dominant list of IPs (God of War, Horizon, The Last of Us, etc.)? More indie/AA-tier releases is the perfect opportunity to finally bring PS1/2-era franchises that people have been begging for back into the spotlight (imagine a Parappa game by Brace Yourself πŸ™)

Re: Out Today: Marathon's PS5 Launch Puts Sony's $3B Live Service Gamble to the Test

Fizza

In the same boat as @IOI myself unfortunately, I knew it was coming out soon but I was thinking late-March rather than NOW XD

I feel a bit spiteful towards Marathon overall as I've grown to dislike Bungie as a company a lot over these past number of years but I won't be playing it myself and therefore I won't judge those who give it a chance by extension. Time will tell if its got the legs Sony and Bungie are hoping (or more accurately praying) for but I wish all who are hopping on a good time πŸ‘

Re: Highguard Permanently Shuts Down on 12th March

Fizza

How many Concord's must we go through before this live-service poison stops infecting the minds of every game studio around 😭

My sympathies go out to those who will lose their jobs over this but man the writing was on the wall from frame-one with Highguard unfortunately, no matter how much Geoff glazing it received after the fact.

Re: Opinion: If Sony's Doubling Down on Its Most Popular Franchises, Where's Uncharted?

Fizza

Uncharted was my first proper exposure to Sony's first-party output (always been a Nintendo guy first and foremost so it took me a while until I had the means to properly play Playstation games XD) and to say its left an impression on me would be one hell of an understatement. I have yet to play UC4/Lost Legacy as of now but UC2 is one of my favourite games ever made and while UC1/3 are quite flawed in comparison, both still have so many memorable moments that endeared me greatly to the video game equivalent of Indiana Jones.

At the same time though....do we really need more of it? I do recognise that there's potential in bringing back Uncharted as a Split Fiction-style co-op platformer but given that story and characters were such a crucial element of the series and the story in question has been given a definitive ending point with UC4, I can't help but feel like bringing it back now would basically be reviving it for the sake of reviving it and not much else.

then again I will absolutely be there day-one should they put out a new one anyways so who am I to judge XD

Re: Marvel's Wolverine PS5 Release Date Announced

Fizza

jesus I was in the middle of playing through Infamous, you can't jumpscare me like that 😭

Definitely very happy to finally have a date for one of my most anticipated releases of the year (and a fairly predictable one at that) but man the timing of this really feels like Sony wanted a quick and easy way to get away from the Bluepoint backlash and I feel a bit soured on the announcement as a result πŸ’”

Re: Some Fans Think Fatal Fury PS5, PS4 Is Delivering Better Street Fighter Content Than SF6

Fizza

A tale as old as time really: SNK's development side makes the coolest stuff ever for their games while constantly being dragged through the mud because of the actions of their marketing department 😭

Still though, CotW's post-release slate of support has been pretty exemplary for a modern fighter and I hope its able to continue into the future as well (especially if certain individuals at the top of the SNK food chain stay the hell away from meddling with its image even further πŸ’€)

Re: 'I'm Confident in the Direction We're Headed': Under-Fire PlayStation Boss Tries to Explain Baffling Bluepoint Closure

Fizza

@themightyant I will concede there isn't direct evidence (as in people on the inside have said that is what's happening) but simple analysis of Sony initially wanting to put out 12 live-service games by early-2026 and the graveyard of cancelled projects from many first-party studios which primarily specialise in single-player output (Insomniac with a Spider-Verse multiplayer game, Naughty Dog with TLOU Online and Bluepoint with a live-service God of War game) heavily indicates that, while single-player game pitches would've still occurred, the only types of projects Sony was willing to actually greenlight in the early-2020s were multiplayer endeavours and its only after the implosion of Concord that they pulled away from that, at the cost of countless developers' jobs and livelihoods.

Obviously situations like this are never wholly black and white but I can't really understand how anyone could interpret Bluepoint's closure as being Bluepoint's fault when they did pretty much everything their parent company asked of them to a tee, even more so than other members of PS Studios.

Re: 'I'm Confident in the Direction We're Headed': Under-Fire PlayStation Boss Tries to Explain Baffling Bluepoint Closure

Fizza

It truly boggles the mind why Sony would not only put Bluepoint on a project such as GaaS God of War to begin with but then also bin them entirely as a result of a decision they made. Like take some goddamn accountability for your own actions for once man πŸ’€

My heart truly goes out to all the employees affected by this. While Bluepoint's remakes have been the focal point of much discourse in the hardcore gaming space, they undeniably put in a ton of effort for their projects and their PS3/4-era remasters were of supremely high quality. To cull such an obviously talented team breaks my heart and I hope the employees are able to bounce back as best they can πŸ’”

Re: Sony Makes Shocking Decision to Shut Down Bluepoint Games

Fizza

@UltimateOtaku91 Saying 'Creativity, innovation, and building unforgettable experiences for players remain at the heart of PlayStation Studios' right before gassing up the next fiscal report for investors is so emblematic of where the leadership's priorities really lie πŸ’€

Re: Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter's Success Sees Falcom Profits Soar

Fizza

The simultaneous global launch definitely helped a ton compared to previous entries but I think another thing which really catapulted Trails 1st's sales was all the positive buzz it was receiving (particularly in how it was one of the highest-rated games of 2025 at the time of its release). Its certainly what got me to take the plunge on it earlier this year and it ended up becoming one of my favourite RPGs around XD

Can't wait for Trails 2nd later this year and hopefully, if these sales trends keep up, Trails 3rd and Trails from Zero will get the remake treatment soon enough as well!

Re: No More Yakuza Kiwami Games After Kiwami 3 Story Changes, New Series Could Happen

Fizza

Them trying to spin the backlash towards Kiwami 3 as it being the starting point for a series reboot feels like a mad reach for me when, if this was meant to be a reboot, they wouldn't have marketed it as a remake or removed the original Yakuza 3 for purchase from digital storefronts. It feels like they're desperate to cling to the current profitability of the franchise while putting in as little effort to make actually good games as possible which pains me greatly given the adoration the series had enjoyed up to this point from pretty much everyone in the gaming scene 😞

Re: 20 PS5 Predictions for State of Play February 2026

Fizza

I don't expect to be right on most of these but I'll fire off a couple of my own predictions:

  • Wolverine release date
  • Dino Crisis 2 on PS Plus
  • a first-party live-service game everyone will roll their eyes over
  • Fantastic Four reveal for Marvel Tokon
  • something new with Castlevania (I don't care if its a new game or a collection of the N64/PS2 entries, the 40th anniversary is this year and I need something to believe in XD)

Re: New Hollow Knight Trophy List All But Confirms a Native PS5 Version

Fizza

Played Hollow Knight for the first time last year during the great Silksanity of late-2025 and while I didn't adore it like so many others, its still a terrific game that I'd highly recommend to anyone and everyone (even if I still prefer the Castlevania style of powertrip Metroidvanias myself XD).

also random question but if I have trophies on the original PS4 version of HK and then upgrade to the native PS5 version, do I lose access to that initial trophy list and thus lock myself out of a Platinum trophy?

Re: Try Pragmata's Hack-and-Shoot Action in Playable Demo, Available Now on PS5

Fizza

Took long enough for the demo to finally arrive on consoles but I'll definitely be digging into this once I finish work for the week. I've been looking forward to Pragmata for ages at this point but the make-or-break moment for me was always going to be how the hacking-based combat flows which this demo will finally let me experience πŸ™Œ

Re: Trails, Ys Dev's New Action RPG Kyoto Xanadu Slashes to PS5 This Summer

Fizza

Most of what I had heard of Tokyo Xanadu basically boiled down to 'Trails X Persona' so seeing SotN-style Metroidvania gameplay show up during the trailer surprised the hell out of me XD
Untitled
I'm currently on a huge Falcom obsession right now after wrapping up Trails 1st (its peak) so I really want to give Tokyo and now Kyoto Xanadu a go in the near future, especially given how much this trailer has won me over on the latter πŸ™Œ

Re: Highguard Player Count Is Actually Hanging in There as It Makes 5v5 Mode Permanent

Fizza

If I could be completely frank for a moment, the fixation the wider gaming space has on Highguard is kinda baffling to be honest. Like yeah it was silly for Keighley to place such a giant spotlight on such a generic shooter but I feel like I've heard discussion of it every day since and I'm just say here wondering why when the game itself is so milque-toast and unmemorable XD

whatever gets a discourse cycle going I guess πŸ˜…

Re: Today, You'll Finally Get to Form Your Own Opinion on PS5 Shooter Highguard

Fizza

I still think Highguard looks generic as all hell (very much the 'fantasy-tech' look we've seen countless times over in Western entertainment since the 2010s) but I can't lie the sheer bizarreness of its marketing strategy, or lack thereof, has definitely piqued my interest regarding it. I'm gonna wait for a proper reviews/impressions to come out (preferably without all the paid hotel and food expenses clouding influencer's judgement XD) but it is F2P so its not like I really have much to lose by trying it out ┐( ∡ )β”Œ

Re: Yakuza Fan Concerns Come to a Head Over Dodgy Kiwami 3 Graphics

Fizza

The various questionable-at-best issues pervading the recent slate of Yakuza titles (though particularly Y0DC and YK3 as we have direct comparison points with those two), from the needless narrative changes to the de-emphasisation of grittiness in favour of the 'lol random' side content, feel rather indicative of a team who have had almost all their creative energy burnt out of them by the series' annual release cadence. It reminds me a lot of Ace Attorney in a way where, while later entries are still good (some even being on-par and surpassing those of older age), the loss of a central series figurehead really hurt the consistency of each subsequent game made in their absence.

I do hope Yakuza can steer back in line soon but given how RGG seems a lot more zoned-in on Virtua Fighter and Stranger than Heaven currently, it feels like the series is in a 'continuing for the sake of continuing' spiral right now 😞

Re: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Now Has the Most Game of the Year Awards Ever

Fizza

this tidbit coming out around the same time as Ubisoft's implosion is remarkable timing XD

Massively deserved though! Its not a perfect game (and learning that it had a Gen-AI texture in it, even only briefly, certainly felt like a supreme kick in the shins) but Clair Obscur is still a remarkable JRPG that felt like a passionate culmination of elements the dev team loved from other games mixed into a truly unique end product that I can absolutely call my GotY for 2025 ❀
