The titles aren't even written in the exact same way, not to mention that the comic's title isn't just Clair-Obscur. The artstyle is a far cry from the game, the subject matter is probably completely different.
Who the f*** would ever confuse the two properties? And what do they think they're doing acting like that about a generic art term?
The first two games were both decidedly too long, the gameplay/boss fights couldn't keep up with how powerful your character and monsters could become by the last third of the story and it got beyond dull, especially in 2 with its abysmal "story".
The demo is already more engaging than anything in either of the previous games, if they keep the level of presentation up and cutscenes/story beats are similar to what's in the introduction to the story it's already the a massive win to me. Especially sicne they seem to have gotten rid of the AWFUL, tacked-on multiplayer features that only ever served to lock better skills and gear behind the most atrocious implementation of coop I've ever seen in an rpg
I wasn't even aware that this HAS a coop mode. Granted, I'm not interested in the game in general, so I never checked out PR blurbs or the psn page, but saying it has multiplayer in both and then requiring you to finish the game once to unlock that is beyond idiotic.
At that point half the magic of playing a game in coop is gone because one person already knows every level, the enemies and the story. I know many people these days see multiplayer games as something you jsut bumrush with friends but a huge part of the coop experience, to me, has always been experiencing those things together. And for the first time.
Upgrading now would be THE dumbest thing they could do. Part 3 is probably going to be revealed this year and be out by the end of the next, because they have this expertise now. They have a team that 100% mostly stayed the same. And they also have assets ready to go for areas from Remake and Rebirth to return to/reuse.
A lot of that is also why companies like FromSoft are as efficient as they are about their dev cycles. Yeah, elden ring took a while after 3 and Sekiro, but a lot of what's in those games has been repurposed and reused over and over, again including the expertise they gain with each new project.
@Oram77 iirc, people were outright mad about the A-1 adaptation /seasons 1 and 2 and I guess the monkey's paw went a little too hard on their wish for a new studio.
No MonHan nor Khazan has me a little bummed, not gonna lie.
Out of the picks on offer I'd choose the boring answer, though. Clair Obscur is just great (almost) all around. Ironically the characters are the thing I like the least about that game.
I really like Grace just from the very, very few actual personality traits we got a glimpse of of her so far. And maybe it's because I'm a little b***h myself when it comes to horror games but I think that's because I can 100% sympathize with being scared out of my mind lol
It's easy to dismiss their explanation /goal for having two very distinct playstyles in the game but they're not doing this since yesterday, and 7 - and parts of 8 - are proof they know how to craft some genuinely terrifying, tense moments. I also think Grace outright allows them to have those in 9 at all, because I can't see Leon ever reacting as strongly as someone like grace or even Ethan to even some of the scariest parts in both of the previous games. And I'd argue he's been that way since his introduction, including his portrayal in RE2R. He's been Mr. badass cooldude since damn near hour zero. If grace turns out a good, interesting character having her alongside Leon probably makes both characters more engaging in requiem, given they have some pretty solid setup to play off of each other.
"But as hunters made their way through the main story and eventually stumbled into endgame hunts, the cracks started to show"
Lol, lmao even... Technical issues on PC aside this is THE best high rank only game in the series. I hope people who rode the world train into the ground eventually realize they just don't like monster hunter
I'm stuck in an eternal cycle of getting excited whenever I see Bub in a news thumbnail only to be let down when it's another Bubble Bobble game, and not Puzzle Bobble 😢
If the price is close to what you have to spend on a low-mid range pc with similar specs it's going to be for the people who want a pc but not have to build it and keep up to date with the usual rat tail that comes along with gaming on PC /through steam. No one else.
And that crowd is miniscule.
Deck was a nice additional thing for enthusiasts who game on PC. This is only for convenience or for people who want to break INTO pc gaming, no one who already has a powerful setup is going to buy this unless they literally have more money than brains and it's going to be an ICNREDIBLY tough sell for "casuals" if they don't price the machine competitively.
Thank goodness you're here is a must play. The game's only, like, 2-3 hours long and entertaining AS HELL. I'm not from the UK or a native English speaker so I'm sure a few references and jokes went slightly over my head but the humor is deathly hilarious and some of the scenes legitimately had me wheezing.
I honestly think it was worth full price to me and as a psplus freebie it's a no-brainer.
Unless you don't like having fun, that is.
@CielloArc world had less unique monsters at launch and got one new one per TU, wilds already got one additional one in TU2, compared to that. The only reason Rise got multiple monsters in a couple updates was that the game was HELLA unfinished at launch.
Legitimately don't get what people expect from this series anymore but I can only assume it's the usual shtick of starting with world, binging content grifters' YouTube Videos and thinking these games are MMOs
I hope none of the people who bitch about the roster for the talisman rewards praise world's endgame because that s*** was abysmal. The only worse system were 4U's guild quests because you got f***all in those if you didn't play the game like your life depended on it.
Also, just in general, stop treating Monster Hunter like a series you play for hundreds, or even thousands, of hours, maybe. It's not. It's never been. And wilds is all the better for NOT having systems like that, imho.
Playstation already knows how old I am, just f***ing put a flag in my online profile for 3rd party titles to check for and stop with the dozen accounts and launchers for every publisher under the sun. Just stop.
They figured out that certain breeds of fans will fork over money for anything. A behind the scenes book would've been awesome to have, probably super interesting to just get official info like that, at least to an extent that's possible for a studio like naughty dog.
But this? Feels like a cash grab, honestly. I can't wait for Intergalactic, and for ND to maybe, finally move past TLOU
@ear_wig afaik almost all of their non-pokemon titles are meh at the absolute best.
I think there's one exception on...Wii or NDS but that was close to 20 years ago now. They're not a particularly good dev studio and I doubt this will turn out that different from the rest.
I played the companion game/predecessor to this, in a fairly high ranking guild, for a couple years and I seriously doubt this will turn out much better in the long run. Grand Cross/the other game is a constant barrage of new, highly limited characters, you have to spend a TON of the game's currency to even guarantee getting the new characters, power creep out the ***, systems upon systems for endless, mindless grinding just to keep up with whales who have significant advantages even if they don't outright max out characters.
I might give it a shot, just to maybe have some fun with my old guild mates - who almost all burnt out just as hard as me on the first game - but I'm not getting my hopes up. Netmarble have shown who they make the game for and it might as well not be a free to play game at all, if they keep the same stuff up with Origin.
Damn, Sand Land and Soul Hackers are two I had my eyes on for a while. Great month just for those two (and I do legitimately not care about any of the rest)
Edit: I also missed A Wonderful Life in the list. Make that three games I was interested in.
So far, a 7. Probably. I never played it back in the days and I honestly don't think some of these quests would've blown my socks off when I was younger, either. It's quite bland with some good moments from what I've seen so far. I've not gotten too far into any of the factions yet, tho.
I can't find a physical in stores around where I live, I haven't seen anything but the trailer at Tga last December but I'm very intrigued and at 45€ it's easier to just jump on board "on a whim" (it obviously gets an insane reception, and I'm into the type of game so I'm probably gonna enjoy it a lot)
Might order it and hope it gets delivered when I'm actually home. Postal service in my area is dogwater 😅
