"But as hunters made their way through the main story and eventually stumbled into endgame hunts, the cracks started to show"
Lol, lmao even... Technical issues on PC aside this is THE best high rank only game in the series. I hope people who rode the world train into the ground eventually realize they just don't like monster hunter
I gotta ask... Besides Lumines - which I'm not even sure is 1st party/Sony published? - have they actually released new games for the thing themselves this past year? Really felt like they just released psvr2 and called it then and there from an "outside perspective"
I'm stuck in an eternal cycle of getting excited whenever I see Bub in a news thumbnail only to be let down when it's another Bubble Bobble game, and not Puzzle Bobble 😢
This one looks so damn cool. Stellar Blade never really interested me, probably because I'm not really into the character designs (or costume designs, I guess)
But this f**** HARD. If it's half as fun as it looks it's gonna be a banger. Hope it's not too far out.
If the price is close to what you have to spend on a low-mid range pc with similar specs it's going to be for the people who want a pc but not have to build it and keep up to date with the usual rat tail that comes along with gaming on PC /through steam. No one else.
And that crowd is miniscule.
Deck was a nice additional thing for enthusiasts who game on PC. This is only for convenience or for people who want to break INTO pc gaming, no one who already has a powerful setup is going to buy this unless they literally have more money than brains and it's going to be an ICNREDIBLY tough sell for "casuals" if they don't price the machine competitively.
Thank goodness you're here is a must play. The game's only, like, 2-3 hours long and entertaining AS HELL. I'm not from the UK or a native English speaker so I'm sure a few references and jokes went slightly over my head but the humor is deathly hilarious and some of the scenes legitimately had me wheezing.
I honestly think it was worth full price to me and as a psplus freebie it's a no-brainer.
Unless you don't like having fun, that is.
@CielloArc world had less unique monsters at launch and got one new one per TU, wilds already got one additional one in TU2, compared to that. The only reason Rise got multiple monsters in a couple updates was that the game was HELLA unfinished at launch.
Legitimately don't get what people expect from this series anymore but I can only assume it's the usual shtick of starting with world, binging content grifters' YouTube Videos and thinking these games are MMOs
I hope none of the people who bitch about the roster for the talisman rewards praise world's endgame because that s*** was abysmal. The only worse system were 4U's guild quests because you got f***all in those if you didn't play the game like your life depended on it.
Also, just in general, stop treating Monster Hunter like a series you play for hundreds, or even thousands, of hours, maybe. It's not. It's never been. And wilds is all the better for NOT having systems like that, imho.
Playstation already knows how old I am, just f***ing put a flag in my online profile for 3rd party titles to check for and stop with the dozen accounts and launchers for every publisher under the sun. Just stop.
They figured out that certain breeds of fans will fork over money for anything. A behind the scenes book would've been awesome to have, probably super interesting to just get official info like that, at least to an extent that's possible for a studio like naughty dog.
But this? Feels like a cash grab, honestly. I can't wait for Intergalactic, and for ND to maybe, finally move past TLOU
4 hours of recording for Gustave actually makes him look hella professional. That stuff isn't easy, especially when you only dub and don't do motion capture yourself, and he absolutely nailed it.
So.. No Charlie. You're just about the opposite of a fraud lol
@ear_wig afaik almost all of their non-pokemon titles are meh at the absolute best.
I think there's one exception on...Wii or NDS but that was close to 20 years ago now. They're not a particularly good dev studio and I doubt this will turn out that different from the rest.
I played the companion game/predecessor to this, in a fairly high ranking guild, for a couple years and I seriously doubt this will turn out much better in the long run. Grand Cross/the other game is a constant barrage of new, highly limited characters, you have to spend a TON of the game's currency to even guarantee getting the new characters, power creep out the ***, systems upon systems for endless, mindless grinding just to keep up with whales who have significant advantages even if they don't outright max out characters.
I might give it a shot, just to maybe have some fun with my old guild mates - who almost all burnt out just as hard as me on the first game - but I'm not getting my hopes up. Netmarble have shown who they make the game for and it might as well not be a free to play game at all, if they keep the same stuff up with Origin.
Damn, Sand Land and Soul Hackers are two I had my eyes on for a while. Great month just for those two (and I do legitimately not care about any of the rest)
Edit: I also missed A Wonderful Life in the list. Make that three games I was interested in.
So far, a 7. Probably. I never played it back in the days and I honestly don't think some of these quests would've blown my socks off when I was younger, either. It's quite bland with some good moments from what I've seen so far. I've not gotten too far into any of the factions yet, tho.
I can't find a physical in stores around where I live, I haven't seen anything but the trailer at Tga last December but I'm very intrigued and at 45€ it's easier to just jump on board "on a whim" (it obviously gets an insane reception, and I'm into the type of game so I'm probably gonna enjoy it a lot)
Might order it and hope it gets delivered when I'm actually home. Postal service in my area is dogwater 😅
Leaderboard rewards have no place in Monster Hunter in the first place. I hope they actually got the message this time and stop with the f***ing stupid faux-mmo nonsense.
@AndyKazama BBI/Dark Arisen was made without Itsuno's involvement.
I'm not expecting s*** for DD2 and the people who keep shouting about an expansion or even just a collab with monster hunter are beyond delusional, but him not being at Capcom anymore doesn't mean we can't get another dlc like what they did for 1.
@PloverNutter Rise/Sunbreak was missing only four of the flagships - Azure Rathalos (MHG), Lagiacrus (MH3), Bracchydios (3U) and Nergigante (MH5/World)
They just like having flagships return in general, and for good reason. Most of them are among the cream of the crop (Kushala sucks in every other iteration, Azure Rathalos is just a subspecies..)
I really enjoyed 2018 but SOMETHING about its sequel just lost me around 10 or so hours in - probably less. Might be the lack of puzzles/how mind numbingly boring the exploration part of it is with combat just...being the same for the most part.
The gameplay systems in these are so f***ing good, if you're into that you can EASILY get a hundred hours out of both games (and I sure as heck did), but it sucks how hard they fumbled both games' stories when the settings, or rather the mythology, of both is so damn interesting. On paper.
These warnings are literally what's included in (age) ratings, so people who are actually worried about depictions of certain themes can check if a game tackles them before deciding on whether or not they want to buy /play those games.
Played Wukong for the past couple weeks and this just falls apart entirely towards the end. Chapter 5 was already VERY hit or miss in its level and boss design and 6 is just plain bad so far (found and beat four bosses atm) and a friend told me it doesn't get better in the final battles.
Really shoddy pacing, overall. It takes until the end of chapter 2 before the combat starts getting fun, chapter 3 and 4 were a lot of fun, 5 is suddenly a fourth of the length with some really lame optional bosses and..like I said, the final chapter is just tedious so far. I get why they called that one "unfinished" 😅
I do not understand how this was nominated for game of the year, I'll be real. It's a solid, fun game at its core but you have to work for it to be fun and by the time you have all the good tools in your arsenal the quality takes a steep nosedive. I just fired up SMTVV for now to get my mind off it for a little but if I end up not enjoying the remaining bosses I might honestly just drop the game 60 hours in

Looks interesting, would need to play it for myself to tell if gameplay is fun to me, of course, but I will probably check it out.
Hope it's not a gacha, kind of just want them to use their genshin money to make some "full" games like the Nikke(?) devs with Stellar Blade.

Re: Talking Point: The Game Awards 2025 Nominations Announced: Who Are Your Winners?
Monster Hunter 👏 Isn't 👏 An RPG 👏
Never has been, either.
And.. After feeling like the year has been kind of stacked, seeing the nominees makes me realize how...lame 2025 was, imho.

I 100%'ed Lies of P and played through it up to NG+4 and I'm still happy as can be with that addition.
